New MP action for Teachers of the Deaf ❗
Numbers of Teachers of the Deaf are continuing to drop. Emma, a qualified Teacher of the Deaf, tells us why their support is vital for deaf children.
As Emma says, deaf children can achieve anything their peers can. But our analysis shows that in England, deaf children achieve, on average, a whole grade less at GCSE than hearing children.
For this to change, we need to recruit more Teachers of the Deaf, and stop them being cut year after year in a money saving exercise. We hope the Government’s response to the SEND Green Paper will include plans to address this urgent issue.
