The UK did particularly badly considering it's an island and we had plenty of warning. NHS was already on its back foot from austerity and the Tories didn't want to admit it.

What kind of person puts a member of their family in a nursing home anyway? And if they were visiting then it's there fault for not taking steps to prevent catching it it's not the government's job to give out common sense

Am I the only one wondering why this "inquiry" has never asked whether lockdowns were the correct policy, rather than just focusing on places like old peoples' homes, and individuals (less than 5%) who were at high risk?
The Tories were completely in charge during Covid. They had a massive majority and every decision made was entirely down to the Tories. Labour had absolutely no say during Covid and no power to do anything because they weren't in charge. This is entirely on the Tories.

Jail? It’s an inquiry, not a court case. There’s absolutely no prospect of jail, or even a fine. There is no punishment here. They’ve only done it so that people can point the finger, and they’ve dressed it up as “being able to act more effectively if something like this ever happens again”. Another colossal waste of tax payers money. This is the reason nobody can afford their own house nowadays. Posh people all around the country stood in big rooms talking about things which don’t matter whilst the state pays them all 100k+ per year.
Hollowing out the NHS and ignoring Exercise Dygnus were key mistakes. They are still happening. NHS needs rebuilding and Cygnus recommendations followed.

So much for the experts opinion which is very much under scrutiny. The government went with the science so maybe question the science and the source of the infection that would be a start. Thank goodness the Tories had the money to spend.
I disagree with all those saying this was a waste of money. We need this to be formally acknowledged, studied properly and evaluated to make improvements. Without this, Boris et al could carry on saying he did a good job. This is now on the record. This is definitive. It was a shambles and the pages of this report detail exactly how.

I'd like to express my disappointment on not having the traditional Chinese vaccine available in the UK. I do not want all the mRNA ones available, but I'd love to be vaccinated with a traditional style vaccine. Please, bring the Coronavac to the UK!!!!

The fix is in. The old pandemic preparedness was inadequate. The new regime we forced through was not fast enough, not hard enough, not long enough. Track, trace and isolation was woeful. We must do better next time. Buckle up folks v2 will be a lot worse than last time. The only glimmer of hope was the inclusion of independent experts to avoid group think. Do you think this means the experts who were cancelled, ignored and even punished for questioning the orthodoxy? I don’t, it will be another group parroting the narratives.
