My wife and I got to fly on the EAA's 1928 Ford Tri-motor at Grimes Field in Urbana, Ohio as part of our 5 year wedding anniversary. Our flight got cut short and only lasted 20 minutes because thunderstorms were moving into the area. It was still a very memorable flight that we will always cherish.
At 20 minutes that was probably close to the full flight experience. I usually describe the Tri-Motor ride as being much like the bus ride in the movie,"It Happened One Night".
Another GREAT video, Chuck, thanks! Who has not wondered what it was like to be in a Tri=Motor when it was under way. Like the Model T, the Tri-Motor looks like it was stripped to the essentials.
I got to fly in a Ford Tri-motor back in the early 70's with my Dad . It was at the Quad cities airport for it's 50 or 60th anniversary. I wonder if that plane is still flying?
wow chance of a lifetime so from your view could you make out the gauges on the right engine nacelle I always thought this plane needed 2 pilots for that very reason & looks like it got off the ground fast
