@@rr7firefly That's grenadine you're thinking of which isn't related to grenadilla (even though the name sounds similar). Grenadilla (Dalbergia melanoxylon) is part of the rosewood family along with kingwood and cocobolo and is also called African blackwood or mpingo. Also called ebene in French, but it's not related to ebony.
No. Completely different. Oboes have a conical bore whereas clarinets have a cylindrical bore. They’re completely different in how they produce sound and how the key mechanism works. They aren’t even made from the same type of wood.
