At the end of the year, my school announced they will be doing this next year! I already put my name on the audition list, and I hope I get cast as Vanessa, because I've been practicing her parts, I can sing all the high notes, and that's my name!
Dude i stopped breathing when i saw this in real life. I was like "I am ready to die now. I have seen 9600 live. LORD TAKE ME AWAY!" it was AMAZING!!!!
I loved this musical! My Advanced drama Class and i got to do a workshop with the musical director i think (?) and one of the main characters dropped by on surprise! She was so sweet we loved her! We got to ask her lots of questions about her life style, and how she got on broadway! So we learned this song and it was so cool! I wish i could go back to NY!
lolgurl141 Sadly no. I wish. Must be for research (ie university/college project or thesis or if you are going to be performing/mounting a production/revival, etc)
I saw this with 90% of the original cast (Karen Olivo was gone because of West Side Story and there was also a new Kevin, and Eliseo was off that day or something), and it was absolutely the best performance of anything I've ever seen. 96,000 and Blackout were absolutely balls-to-the-walls amazing. The whole show was, but those two scenes were my favorites.
We're performing the biggest numbers of In the Heights for the Fairfield Follies. it's such a great number and we have an extraordinary cast doing it. I'm Kevin, also the Piragua Guy understudy. WHOO! I can't wait, haha.
It's finally happening, for sure this time! Rights acquired by Warner Bros due to the Weinstein scandal, release set in 2020 and Anthony Ramos will play Usnavi!!
My only issue with the original cast is Sonny. Rather than cast him younger they put a short actor in the part. I understand why, experience and voice, etc. but it still bugs me.
