In this entry we’ll be taking a closer look at the mind of Simon Gruber from Die Hard with a Vengeance. Thanks for watching! If you have any comments feel free to let me know below. #evil #diehard
I disagree that Simon didn't care about Hans, at least to a degree as the dialogue between he and Zeus shows: Zeus, "Man didn't I hear you say you didn't even LIKE your brother?!" Simon, "There's a difference between not liking your brother and not caring when some dumb Irish flatfoot drops him out of a window." I also always admired Simon and his group more as they seemed far more principled than Han's group. John, "There was never any bomb in the school was there?" Simon, "Of course not. I'm not a monster, though I sometimes work for monsters." Even most of his organization go out of their way to avoid killing more than absolutely necessary,(The exception being the metro bomb, the one guard and John's friend from the NYPD which arguably were somewhat necessary for the plan to work) when Zeus hands the bomb back to Simon's men disguised as cops, they express horror at the idea of just leaving it as "Some kid could..."(find it) and so they take it with them, they use tranquillizers on most of the security guards and they even let Simon go the first time he's in their clutches instead of killing him. Simon to me is much like Cooler from the DBZ franchise. He's clearly the more level headed and practical than his brother and he's not so much avenging his brother out of love or hate, but rather a conception of family honor(that admittedly he might not have even done if John hadn't been in the same city as the heist).
Dude, Cooler was basically like Ursula's sister Morgana from _Little Mermaid 2._ A character who is basically an inferior version of a previous character written off as a surprise sibling. Simon is NOT that.
The tranquilizer thing could be a tactic to avoid getting the x rating or whatever is after "r rating", and yes, I always compared gruber brothers to frieza and cooler from dbz. You know what they say, frieza was cool but his brother was cooler
Simon Gruber? Didn’t John McClane say his name was f**k head? That aside, curious as to what the dynamic was between Simon and Hans growing up in the Gruber household
It would be great if you'd complete the set and do Colonel Stuart from DIe Hard 2, Thomas Gabriel from Die Hard with a Vengeance, and Yuri Komarov in A Good Day to Die Hard
It wasn't garbage. Sure it had it's flaws, but I liked how the bad guys were ex-military and actual terrorists, moreso then either brother. I admit I'm one of the few who has the second one as my favorite.
@@TheFunctioningInsomniac Evidently ya aren’t aware of their bannin of political parties or police state actions that began in the early 70s, their first intelligence service the (Gehlen organization) as well as all their industrialists and a former chancellors direct connections to the angry Austrian. apparently, reactionary political catchphrases is all ye need; rather than the context that makes his statement laughable.
