Following the death of Clive James Australian critic from Leukemia on 24th November 2019 this is interview he gave with Mary Beard from his Cambridge Home
A wonderful " LARAKIN " , DEAR , Mr.Clive James , through words life ,Joy , Sorrow , Honesty...So much to be thankful for , Our Dear Clive James ,,, ....
What a wonderful, gently persuasive interview by Mary Beard which brought out so much of Clive's work and life. Another one of my heroes sadly missed, bon voyage cobber!
I read & thanks , more to come ; You live Clive , thank you very much : I will meet you through 😢words , again & again : ....Missed but never forgotten .,!
I watched the postcards from Sydney and London episodes and ended with this interview. It’s tough to see that 30 year transition. I was already crying (just a little bit..) after a few mins. Farewell Clive.
So many gifts wrapped up in one personality. Mary refers to Clive as an Australian migrant, insulting to people of his generation. Born of Britain even in its beginnings as a penal colony, the connection for Oz royalists has never been broken.
