I'm a 45ACP fan for carry as a civilian. At 66 I've been carrying for a long time. And in my job I had to point weapons at threatening people many times. Two things I know. #1. Rifles are more accurate and in centerfire more powerful. #2. Handguns shoot less powerful cartridges and are less accurate because of their design. Why then carry a handgun? You all know why. It can be concealed, and in the right hands save lives. The ARX inceptor in 45ACP is in my opinion the best self defence round made for handguns. My Colt Gold Cup and Ruger P90 with 5 inch barrels both showed around 1350 fps. My Glock 30 Gen4 1300 fps. With no more ( I felt less in my opinion) felt recoil that standard 230 grain target ammo. Busted through a 4x4 and vaporized the contents of a full 2 ltr soda bottle behind it. Velocity matters more so than bullet weight. I actually carry this ammo now for everyday use. Whys? One, it does the job as well or better than any other 45 ACP choice out there. Two, 118 grain in weight versus 230 grain bullets times 14 rounds means your firearm weighs much less. But the this is only my opinion, albeit an experienced opinion. Do your homework, try different cartridge offerings and pick what's best for you. Be safe fellow 2nd amendment lovers!!
I carry these in my Beretta 92A1. I like them because you don't have to worry about a hollow point clogging and the recoil is significantly less. In 9mm the recoil is like shooting a .25acp.
Those ARX bullets is no joke. A guy while target shooting was shot through the upper quad of his leg with the 9mm round. His leg had a hole through and through exit that you could see into the wound. That bullet did exactly what was designed to do.
Let's crunch *THOSE* numbers! That water jug caught a cold - it sneezed like there's no tomorrow. I guess it was a bit allergic to philips screwdriver bits.
In the early 90s I found a box of .30 .30 called Excelerators. It had a small projectile (.223 I think) with a plastic sabot. I had no chrono but they WERE extremely fast compared to normal .30 .30 rounds. These remind me of those.
@@thomasraahauge5231 They would be REAL FAST! Seriously, just going off of the sound of those hitting a 110 yard target, they must have been close to 2/3 or more faster than my usual rounds.
Upside Downdog: So, when do we get to see that stuff? Is it for hand loaders, or is there some obscure company out there, that deals with things like that?
@@thomasraahauge5231 It came in a green box so I think it was Remington. I haven't ever seen any besides that box. In 93ish 20 cost almost 30 bucks USD!
Nice shootin a glock and hi- point. Never owed a glock but ive had hi points for a lloooonnnnnggggg time. I got them old ones. No hold open no slide lock and a mag release is a metal clip on the bottom. Way back when i got em it was what i could afford. And im no fan of gettin ride if guns so they always stayed with me. Thats some hot ammo who-tee-who ill be sure to look for it here.
I kinda want a hi point just because everybody hates them so much. lol I never shot one, but by just looking at the video, looks like the heavy slide keeps the muzzle flip tamed a little. Gonna have to try out some of that ammo too.
@@WHOTEEWHO I'm going to have to get one just to have around, and add to my little collection. I've had a few different guns that had a bad rap, but turned out to be good guns.
I carry those rounds in my 1911 And my smith and wesson 45 shield. They are Light weight, light recoil ,High energy, consistent and accurate. They will turn the Insides of creatures On 2 or 4 legs into a red slushy And if it hits bone It explodes.
My FMJ 230 grain 45acp is around 850, all my defensive 45 acp rounds are 404 lbs of energy and 900ft per second… I just bought this ammo it’s rated for 1400+ ft per second
Nothing wrong with a high point. They function just fine, very reliable. A high speed - energy 45 acp. I like that, caught me flat footed on it. Trade a little weight for speed energy....with a .45 cal frontal area that is nasty...
@@WHOTEEWHO If i lived closer i'd let you use mine. They are hard to get i think even now. But not big $$. It will surprise you. You have done large VS small before but not quite like this. Yes the ammo is $$ when found. All i'l say is if i had to carry it - no prob at all. But i do not carry by choice - due to my states laws.
I would be interesting to see the companies that manufacture these ARX rounds to manufacture a 556 ARX round and ask the military to try it out and see what they think of it. The m4 carbine for example May benefit from a type of round with such a high velocity because the benefits of the m4 unfortunately come with trade-offs as well like effective range the effective range being slightly better with an M16. I would be interested to see how a polymer tipped 556 round would perform.
In my experience which is almost all in the military where there is no choice and what kind of ammo you use I think that whatever works best for you is whatever works best for you if you trusted there's a reason you trust it. The military does not use hollow points after getting out of the military kind of discovering the hollow point because I never hunted growing up or anything it was my first experience ever with the civilian side of this stuff I did notice that almost every time there was any kind of feeding problem it was never with an FMJ I think it's just that there are a lot of companies making a lot of different types of hollow points I'm sure that they're good ones out there but in my past experience I would rather put reliability before the so-called stopping power which is a real thing but the last thing somebody wants or needs in a self-defense scenario is to hear a click when they need it to function the most.
l was able to obtain some of the bullets and brand new Norma brass that was primed and pushed the 118 ARX bullets to 1547 FPS with NO pressure signs! Glock 21 pistol using a Wilson Combat Barrel. 230 x 786 = 316 lbs muzzle energy 118 x 1547 = 627 lbs muzzle energy. Load: 11.3 grains Long Shot. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. I take no responsibility. I'm just letting you know what I used and did. Brass fit in the barrel with finger pressure and pulled right out with my fingernail easily. No flattened primers and nothing to make me consider I was running too hot.
Hi point has gotten better on its reliability Had a Gen 1 45 not long after they came out. Always had at least one jam per magazine But they still aren't good enough to be allowed as duty carry or duty back up on 99.9 percent of law enforcment depts around the country
Id say try shooting them all before you buy them if u can. Everyone is different and they are all good. Hard to beat a good 1911 but they can be pricey
@@WHOTEEWHO Yeah, I'm leaning towards a Smith 1911. Cry once right? LOL. I just missed out by about 30 minutes on a mint HK Mark 23 for $1200 CDN. That was a crazy good deal. Thanks for the vids my man. Be well.
Lol was just at smga and seen these in 9,45,380 for 9.99 a box so I grabbed 2 boxes figured wth right lol. Got home and searched and look who I found lol 👍
Them looks like cooper shells they make them in 22 L.R and they run as fast as 22 mag. C.C.I makes them they are called 22 copper. They destroy anything that you shoot
Since mass and velocity are equal contributors to something I call impact I see a spreadsheet in the future. Also, the HiPoint may have better lockup than the Glock....at least fps was slightly better.
Eddie Huff: A commentator on one of Paul Harrells videos said something like this: "the powder in the cartridge causes an explosion, and the explosion uses the projectile to transfer that explosion to the target. A small explosion yields a small damage, and a large explosion causes a large damage. Light or heavy projectile, it comes down to the explosion." Well, it was something down that alley. Does that make sense in any way?
@@thomasraahauge5231 After much thinking, I would have to equate an old bicycle with a classic Colt or Smith & Wesson revolver insofar as they are lovely to look at and with minimal care will always be there for you when you need it. LOL. How's that? Hope you're well Thomas.
Matthew Pearson: Just the answer I was looking for. So my trusty old bicycle is my equivalent to a classy colt or S&W - and S&W just happens to be my favorite revolver brand. You're my huckleberry :) Got a sore throat, just like half of my home town, but apart from that, I'm fine. And you, all well in your part of the world?
@@thomasraahauge5231 Sorry to hear about you not feeling well. I'm in Ontario Canada and things are good except for the fact our idiot prime minister Trudeau is thinking about a nationwide ban on handguns and "assault weapons'. Apparently he thinks this will solve problem of gang violence in Toronto and Vancouver. What a moron. Merry Christmas to you and your family Thomas.
@@WHOTEEWHO sounds like its gonna be a physics project . like using a bullet puller adding a cavity in the center of bullet then reassemble the bullet just to see what happens .. I know yer busy (holiday/family/work) could be interesting . thank ya sir for a great vid , Luv the 45
