Thanks for this lesson. About 30 years ago I played diatonic harps in a bluesband beside guitar, then I quit playing it, because the band broke up. For a few months ago I had a cardiac operation and because also my lungs were affected, the medics habe me some toy to train my lungs. I got bored with it, remembered my harp playing, so I bought a chromatic harp, only to find out, that on a chromatic harp blues doesn't come that naturally as crossharp on a diatonic. In this video you've answered all the issues, that I had about the third position in a chromatic. I can allready play a lot of songs in the chromatic, but just didn't achieved playing blues in it. I'm very grateful for the insights, you're giving me!

these are really helpful tips. i got the diatomic pretty well in several positions. i’ve just ordered the east top forerunner 2~valveless and looking forward to try some of these techniques

cheers bud. I've have been learning to play "in the Bleak Mid-Winter and in that score you play the A slide in for the Bb. Silly me was jumping to the 4th hole to play the B# . Then I discovered the Bb on the 3nd hole. LOL Thats save save my playing and made it smoother.

Hi Ross. As always you have produced a very interesting and informative lesson. Thank you for that. I have recently started dabbling at playing along with some bluesy type songs on a chromatic harmonica. I have chromatics in the keys of C,D,G F and Bb. The D and G harps have a few notes on the lower register that are weak and hard to produce a proper sound on. Because of that I sort of discarded them. The songs I play along with are mostly in E and A so I decided to practise playing E blue's on the C harp and A blue's on the F harp which is technically the same thing. Having seen your video lesson I feel motivated to try using my discarded D and G respectively to play on blue's E and A. Looking forward to an interesting journey! Hope you have a happy new year.
