Phantom had a warehouse near Jupiter rd. in the Garland area in the early 90’s . They had a full line of soft plastics, the main seller was the 7” Ringed Rascal worm came in a ton of colors . What was cool about that worm you could fish it “ full length “ or pinch of the tail and Carolina rig it as a Fry style bait.
I am a little late today but it has giving me the time to review the comments. THE BEST oF ALL is to see you have taken the time to reply to everyone. RETRO BASSEN earns the respect of all. NICE touch.
I woke this up this morning, camping in the woods at a farm pond with my son. Daybreak, coffee in a camp kettle, brand new retro bassin episode with breakfast before hitting the pond.
ME TOO!!!! I am about to run out of old school purple white tail that I have caught fish on at my local lake for - oh gosh, since 1985. I don’t even want to count how many years that is. Lol
My step dad passed away in January and i just aquired alot of his old fishing tackle. He still has a ton of rods nd reels but none of it looks more than the 1980's old. It's so cool actually touching gear he used 30+ years ago
I'm just amazed that you sit and move around on the ground like that for so long. I would need a decompression stage come back up, like deep sea divers.
It was common in 80's and 90's to buy stock inventory from a big company like Southern Plastics in flats and rebag with your company's logo.Use to buy flats for fishing shows. Many great worms made by same company with many local companies logo.
SWC loves soft plastics. I saw several that would work great. Check out Rolands Friday video. He is sitting at Donkeyland with a monster. Keep after them my friend
I’ve got probably half of the soft plastics you showed. I’ve been collecting plastics over 50 years. I don’t have a lot of each type but I have them. My dad had a bunch I inherited also.
Lure maker " Rebel " made a plastic worm called the " Ring Worm ". It was six inches long. I bought either solid black, or black with a fire tail. It was the go-to worm fishing in the Sand Hills in tea colored stained water, or what we called black water. It was clear enough to see down two to three feet, but had a weak tea color. The bass tore that worm up. The only other worm that came close was the Mann`s Jelly Worm 9 inch in either purple, or red.
Cool finds my friend. The algorithms are finally working in your favor. You need an easy to find address, some of us have some cool stuff to send your way.
Hey Retro, in all of your travels, have you ever run across a Zoom bait, called a Hatimite? It redembled a centipede with each segment being cupped, so it moved up and down as it moved through the water column. If I could post a picture of it, on here, I would.
Dude this reminds me of the time when I worked at sports authority as the outdoor department manager and they send us over 2 pallets of freshwater fishing tackle from a old sports authority they shut down and I was like a kid in a candy store with all the cool 80s and 90s tackle they must of had in back stock. Needless to say I bought bags and bags of the stuff because everything was on .47 or .97 a lure or even .27 for bags of plastics they were in great condition.
This dude is amazing I love your content brother keep it up every time I’m around a new phone I grab it and sub to you channel lol you deserve so many more! You’ll get there keep it up!
You know. That is good you disclose where you find stuff. Your a good man. Now - what is the Net tackle website you mentioned in Denver? If I hung out with you I would spend so much $!!!
It’s all about allowing my Bassin’ Buds to share in the lure hunting experience! Most places will ship, but for those that don’t, I may have to figure out an alternative. Maybe my own Retro Tackle Shop?
@@RetroBassin Now your thinking. I think a true DISCOUNT tackle website would be a HIT!!! And a store if we had a warehouse. But stuff would have to be a discount. I can tell 1 of the reasons this tackle is in these stores is because they want to much $. Like the box of Mepps at Denver. That was a deal. Now that I have your attention. What is the website you mentioned in Denver? Lurenet.com? I will be at the Classic Expo Friday.
Check out olsens pro am in lake worth. Ask one of the lady’s up front to see the tackle in the back and grab you some power bait power craws they have green pumpkin with chartreuse pinchers 4” I believe, they’re killer. Just don’t buy all the old stuff 🤣 It was my favorite bait growing up and they still have 100ct bags soaked in original powerbait sauce.
Sling shot by riverside was a whacky style slugo style bait and it had little holes in it that you could insert small split shot in river side also had a floating lizard with those air pockets for Carolina rig old colors were pumpkin with blue tequila root beer with green glitter also dark grape with a powder blue tail which was very close to sky blue and motor oil which looks whiskey brown in your hand but put it in the water it turns weird green what color the fish see l don’t know and how a bait can apear transcluent reddish brown in your hand and green at your feet in the water is a mystery to me the closest to ring rascal is mr twister curl tail worm uncle Josh once made a leaf lizard very flat and wide and l think you can still get ditto gator tail worm from tackle warehouse made by zoom that beaver liz combo looked great
Sean, the thought crossed my mind, but no. So much of the magic of lure hunting is leaving a little treasure for others to find. So until I get my own tackle shop, I’ll continue to leave some on the shelf for Bassin’ Buds to pick up after watching a video!
Great stuff! Love your content as I was fishing a lot from about 1975 until 1985. I have a lure I cannot ID. Any way to post a photo to see if you or anyone can ID? Pretty sure it is from about 1980.
I have couple of the dogs plus my our Franken dogs!! You have seen my lures at jensons . We hook up and hang out and do some fishing and I’ll hook you up on lures!!!!!
I have two packs of watermelon seed geeks....went to wildlife expo as a kid, had a booth doing fishing trivia and gave out geeks as a prize.....i won them. And have never even gotten a single bite on thwm in almost 25 years lol
The prices were a little high for baits as old as that don't you think? I mean hard baits are one thing but almost 4 dollars for 30-year-old plastics seems a little much.
It all depends on your philosophy. Granted most folks would probably just drop money on fresh packs of modern baits, but for those looking for specific discontinued lures, I’ve seen them go for twice that a pack on the ol’ eBay! I certainly bought a few…
@@RetroBassin I wish it was a tackle shop but I make ar500 targets we are located on 59 n between marshall and Jefferson! But we have lots of good fishing sports here in east texas!
