I have fond memories of this show! I was seven years old when it first aired. They reran the thirteen episodes so much, I knew what stock sequence was coming up when Bruce Banner changed into The Hulk. "Oh this time, he goes to all fours and it shows his shoe burst, then he rips off his shirt and tie". I hated that Banner's clothes came back after he turned back. Even then, it was too much to suspend my disbelief.
When I first saw this intro to this Hulk cartoon as a kid, I felt goosebumps, chills and even had my eyes tear up and feel a rush of adrenaline when Bruce was in the spiked wall trap and Betty was trying to save him and he was forced to transform to save himself from dying. I imagined myself in his shoes and the extreme stress and emotions I would be feeling. It's one of the best cartoon intros I can remember seeing, and the one that had the most impact on me.
I LOVED this series, it was one of my favourites when I was a kid, along with Spiderman and his Amazing Friends. Although the transformations were using stock footage, I thought they were fabulous, and the dramatic music was great! It was a shame it was such a short series I particularly liked the episode with the She-Hulk and the one where Betty (with a KO'd Banner) go into space. And Stan Lee's narration was fabulous and dramatic.
My goodness! I need to get this series! My favorite episode is when Hulk went back in time & had the cave woman girlfriend. She wasn't afraid of him like everyone else, Episode ended very sad as they ended up separated by time again. As a kid...I cried for the Hulk!
You forgot episode "prison of the monster",the episode in which Banner does get cured of being the hulk via a magic potion he learned about through an old legend about a tribel prince.Banner was forced to regain the ability to transform into the hulk in order to stop the villain known as spymaster from stealing a prototype weapon due the fact that the hulk was immune it's effects
I didn't forget anything. This was a summary of the series, in which I pointed a few of my personal favorite episodes. The video is as intended. Thanks for watching and for the comment.
@@MADABOUTSUPERHEROES You should'v added as one of your favs episodes due to the fact it deals with the fact that Banner gets his cure, but is forced to give it up for the greater good. Thus making it a heartbreaking decision for him to make.Everyone knows that it was a moral decision is what lead to Banner to becoming the Hulk, this episode is a sprta "history repeating itself" kinda way,Hence the tihe title
@@AR-xd3dp It's nice that you like this episode so much and I appreciate the comments and that you're a Hulk fan and that you've watched my video, but you do not get to tell me that I "should have added this episode as one of my favs" . The videos I make are from my own perspective. Not yours or anyone elses. You are free to make your own video and talk about whatever episodes of the Hulk series you want.
HULK'S my all time favorite Character & those Animated shows from the 60s-90s mostly were truly off da Chain & I loved them & still have them all on VHS PROUDLY!
Loved the Transformation scenes!! The Dramatic Theme Music should of been used in the Marvel Movies of today, because it just SO fits the Character of the Hulk perfectly!
I agree, the music is great. Much more befiting the Hulk then any of the music featured in the movies. Thanks so much for watching the video Crissy and for sharing your thoughts ;)
As a 10 year old in 1983, I had been collecting Hulk comics for a year, and had been a massive fan of the live action incredible hulk tv series, since I was six.. My hype for this cartoon was off the charts. I remember watching the 1st episode featuring doctor octopus, with my heart pounding, barely able to believe how fantastic it was. But then came his first near transformation. I couldn't believe what my eyes were seeing as I watched his ripped clothes reform! I thought, "What?" The show is so utterly perfect, then this. Hoe could this happen to my favourite fictional character of all time? How can I overlook this? As I watched the series, my initial dislike of his clothes reforming was replaced by my own theory as I saw it's charm.. My 10 year old mind theorized that the body of the hulk that Banners body morphs into, comes from a magical place. Hence, his ripped clothes must go to this same magical place when he becomes the hulk. Then,, when the Hulk becomes Banner again in this version, perhaps guided by Banners intense desire to protect his secret identity, his clothes reform from that same magical place the Hulk's body comes from. Science can't explain all that mass and power coming from nowhere and then disappearing to nowhere. But, some magical place or dimension worked well for me, and this cartoon seemed to embrace the impossibility of a man turning into a hulk, and running with the magic of it. He gets to transform into the hulk and afterwards is left exactly as he was before, clothes and all. It also stopped anybody reasonably suspecting he was the hulk. From this perspective, it made the incredible hulk even more incredible, likeable, and magical. The stories and animation were the best. Gamma Base, the savage hulk, Banner keeping his secret well hidden, Banner being heroic, Stan Lee narrating - it was just so well made. Just my thoughts....
The best ever voice actor to lend their voice to the incredible hulk cartoons is none other than the late Bob Holt who provided the voice to 1982's Hulk. In fact his vocal performances were so great that they would go on to use reuse his stock Hulk roars for other animated characters throughout the 80s including Unicron the planet sized transformer in 1986's Transformers: The Movie
Thank God i grew up in the 80's. Tv, movies music was so différent the today. Their no creativity making cartoon. 80s was the era for cartoons and was very entertaining to watch and spend time. Even spending time playing with the toys from the 80's where awesome.
'When Monsters Meet' is very flawed: Hulk finds it hard to break his way out of a grille for one thing. Quasimodo witnesses Bruce transform to Hulk and then after chasing Quasimodo around the city (and up the Eiffel Tower), when he sees Hulk back as Bruce he acts like it all never happened. Very weird. It's ambiguous but still, he would have no idea about the Bruce and Hulk split personality to know Bruce isn't still out to get him, and he acts like the two beings are separate... Makes no sense.
I loved this Incredible Hulk animated series that aired on NBC. The only thing that it lacked were more villains 🦹♀️ from the Marvel comics. Still it was cool seeing the Incredible Hulk face off against Doctor Octopus. Plus,I liked how Dr. Bruce Banner did a lot of heroic feet’s before changing into the Hulk and wasn’t wimpy and nerdy unlike his comic book counterpart.
This & Spider-Man & His Amazing Friends was a must watch every Saturday. An underrated 80's cartoon like The Mighty Orbots. I have no clue why this isn't streaming on Disney Plus? Just about every other Marvel animated series is, including those other Hulk cartoons. What's the deal?
This is one of my fave..in Asia here it was shown on then local tv at prime slot for kids at 18:30 hours everyday one like this was presented..i rush home from school around 18:25..normally makes it 10 minutes into the show. Good retro docu. 🤗
This Looks Like a Really Cool Animated Hulk Series I Will have to Check it out Thanks for Sharing and bringing it to my attention, growing up in the 90s I Got into the Incredible Hulk Animated Series of 1996 That was my Introduction to the Hulk. I Loved this Story for the Hulk Where the Hulk is on the Run from General Ross and he has to Take Care not to get angry otherwise he will alert the Military of his Location, Whereas Nowadays it's always the Hulk is always With the Avengers and to me that is not as Fun I miss the Time where Hulk was always on the Run and Fighting off the Military and The Various Thugs Soldiers Robots and Freaks General Ross Threw at the Hulk in an Attempt to Destroy Hulk.
You're very welcome Daniel. I like the 90s Hulk cartoon as well. It's also very faithful to the Bill Mantello & Sal Busema 80s comics that are personal favorites. Thanks for watching my video and for taking the extra time to comment. I appreciate you sharing your memories ;)
One of the best superhero cartoon theme tunes ever. Already a big Marvel Comics fan back then, I used to watch this show. BTW: the original *"Blob"* came out in the 50s, not the 60s. Great synopsis as always though.
Thanks for checking out the video and for the comment, Beta Ray Bill. Great name. Cool character. Betra Bill should have been featured in a Thor film already. What are they waiting for?! Thanks for the complement words as well : )
Thanks for the suggestion Michael. When I get around to it I'll be sure to let you know that the video has been posted. Also Thanks so much for watching :)
@@MADABOUTSUPERHEROES I think you’ll enjoy it. The first 13 episodes are the best because they are the comic stories with some of sensibilities of the Bill Bixby show ( there’s even a quick visual nod to the show in the first episode itself) and Lou even voices the Hulk himself!
@@Dhampir101980 I know. I watched it when it originally aired in 96 😃 and have revisited in reruns since then and caught it on Disney plus too. I'm well versed. I'll definitely get to it. One of my favorite episodes is the season one episode with Ghost Rider. Luke Perry from 90210 fame voices Rick Jones. It a cool series for sure.
@@MADABOUTSUPERHEROES that’s my favorite episode as well! It’s too bad that the show was forced to abandon the dark, moody tone for season two. The only good thing about season two was Gray Hulk, they barely used him. Such a waste
@@MADABOUTSUPERHEROES quick story, I wanted to watch the hulk on Saturday morning but for some reason A NFL game was on. I was super bummed! Keep up the good work! Narration is on point. Cheers!
Do you Remember General Thunderbolt Ross in the 1996 Incredible Hulk Animated Series? He Looks Just Like General Ross From the 2003 Ang Lee Eric Bana Hulk Movie I Loved that Movie and I Really wanted a Sequel it was a Good Movie, I Hope Eric Bana Hulk and His World will be One of The many Characters and World that will be in Deadpool 3 Avengers Kang Dynasty and Avengers Secret Wars.
I absolutely remember that. Sam Elliot as ol' Thunderbolt Ross was one of the best parts of Ang Lee's Hulk. Although, I'm more of a fan of the Ed Norton Incredible Hulk film. I'm looking forward to Deadpool 3, we'll have to wait and see though. 👍
@@MADABOUTSUPERHEROES I request you to make a review and retrospective regarding Lionsgate's Marvel Animated Movies such as Doctor Strange, Next Avengers: Heroes of Tomorrow and more.
I was a kid in the 90s who watched the 90s hulk cartoon but I also watched this one when it came on TV good show for its time it felt like hulk unlike the real life one which was a bit lame to be honest
Please do HULK and The Agents of S.M.A.S.H. ....its abit out there but fun...some jokes you see coming but the Easter eggs and character intro cards are cool....Great Vic by the way...A TLS
Thanks. I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I appreciate the request but I've watched some of that series and it just wasn't for me. I'm glade you like Agents of S.M.A.S.H though. Thanks for checking out the video and taking the time to comment. 👍
There are some on sale at Ebay, but it's not a commercial release it says, but it does play on American DVD players. That's the only I've ever saw except one on Amazon that doesn't play on American DVD players.
