I like how Jellystone's recent portrayal of Space Ghost, while relying more on the comedic side, feels like a homage to both the original series & Coast to Coast
Back in the 60's when I was a kid I couldn't wait to wake up every Saturday morning to watch Space Ghost and all those other great superhero cartoons. Now when I watch reruns of all my Saturday morning favorites like Space Ghost, The Herculoids and many more, it brings back so many wonderful childhood memories for me!
I love Space Ghost! I grew up watching reruns. I've had the DVD set for years now. I recently bought the Space Stars DVD set. And you're right. It pales in comparison. Have you ever read the FUTURE QUEST comics? It's an epic crossover comic featuring tons of Hanna-Barbera superheroes.
Nice to hear from a fellow Space Ghost fan. I have the first trade paperback of Future Quest. I really enjoyed it. I was pleased with all the interactions of those classic Hanna Barbara superheroes. Thanks for taking the time to comment. I appreciate your support. Not just here but on some of my earlier videos as well. It means a lot :)
Basically, Space Batman, as a space cop. He even has his own Robin, Batgirl and pet sidekick. ;-) I think it was a fairly nice cartoon (debuted the same year as Star Trek, funnily enough). I was genuinely amazed in the 1990s, when the characters were resurrected for Space Ghost Coast to Coast.
Even though I grew up with the doofus version of Space Ghost from Coast to Coast and Cartoon Planet, I would love if they did a serious action-adventure revival of the series. That being said, it'd be hard for them to make Brak feel like a threatening villain for me, considering I can't not think of him as a goofy manchild.
Let's not forget to mention the fantastic music cues by Hoyt Curtin (many composed and recorded for the earlier Johnny Quest) and by Ted Nichols. Too bad none seem to have survived in original recorded tracks. A great Hoyt Curtin piece is heard here at 7:29 - 8:01.
@@MADABOUTSUPERHEROES trying to relive my youth and your channel is doing a great job… have subscribed. Keep up the great work!! Any thoughts on Auto Cat and Motor Mouse ??
@@BT05003 I'm So glad my channel is helping you revisit your childhood, that's so great. Thank you so much for the very kind words. Sorry but I"m not familiar with Auto Cat or Motor Mouse. Are they 80s cartoons?
I prefer Coast to Coast parody, but I feel DC should revive the character in a more dark setting (similar to Batman)…..Even if DC doesn’t own them, they should purchase the rights
Space Ghost was way before my time, but as a kid they did rerun the show countless times. I loved this show along with Thundarr. And unlike some other hero's of the 80's. He-man cough cough, Space Ghost or Thundarr were not afraid to take a life for the greater good. Of course in Space Ghost's case, how did his rouges Gallery get blown up in one episode, and come back for more later lol.
