make it a series. "Just painting a mini". These Bob Ross calm walkthroughs of the process are actually interesting and can even help some people that are struggling with similar problems in their own projects.

Following all the big minipainting youtubers, I've noticed lately a distinct lack of videos of painters just painting! Thank you.
@colossalbigfoot256

Exactly.. you learn nothing. It’s about how big a terrain they can make, how many products donated and etc. I’m going back to print as I find it much more informative with detailed photos and instructions.. YT is ruining more than just the hobby.. go pick up some modeling books as they’ve become cheaper and not “but wait, there’s more” type nonsense.

There's too many people trying to become a youtube personality under the guise of "chasing the algorithm" in the niche at the moment. I'm glad to see Scott take a small break from teh rat race and just paint something.

This might be due to the knowledge base I have from your other videos but I feel like this was in some way, a good refresher. It was a "here's the techniques I used, this is what it looks like at the start, middle, and end." A no fuss review of the results various techniques can give, essentially.

When you got to the sponsor segment, I was expecting to have to skip some scripted mobile game ad. But I stayed all the way through it because (just like the video at large) you just talked to us about something cool you've been working with lately, and showed us some incredible stuff in an interesting but chill way.

Yes!! More of this, please! I love watching people paint in this edited video style. Don't discover the cure for cancer, just show us what you painted and edit it so that it's not 10 hour long. Maybe you can make it as some sort of series, whenever you paint something you like, you show us how you did it.

You know out of all the miniature youtubers I follow I think that Pete the wargamer is the only one who straight up just makes videos of him hobbying,everyone else I follow either tries to come up with something new every time or makes tutorials for specific things.

2:38 I really agree with this point. I think that's why I sometimes enjoy painting older models from the 80s, 90s or early 2000s, more than modern sculpts. While the modern ones look impressive when done, they tend to be a bit of an uphill struggle to complete sometimes due to their abundance of details.

Bob Ross had a crazy amount of episodes. He just painted, no gimmicks, no clickbait, just painting and being himself. Everyone loves Bob Ross for that very reason.

@JarradJL10

More of this! Not every video needs to be something gimmicky (like so many big creators I’m seeing lately), there’s a real therapeutic aspect to just watching a master at his craft paint something.
@trovarion

It's kinda fun you made that observations of busts often being just character studies, without too much unnecessary klimbim. It's exactly why I love painting (most of) them. And also why sculpting them is often more fun than minis.

You really captured what we all were looking for, Scott. Lately so many painting channels went for 'BIGGEST MODEL IN WARHAMMER?!?!!!1' or any other iteration of 'GOD PAINTING IN 10S!' A reminder that, hey, it's a hobby about painting anything for the enjoyment of the process and the finished piece is a nice thing.

Getting out of one's comfort zone is important to growth, but I think it's also important to remember to kick back and just enjoy the process at the level you're at, wherever that is at the moment. Growth is great, and something we all strive for, but it's so important to remember to just relax and feed our passion a bit without putting additional pressure on ourselves. Would love to see more of these as you walk through your process without trying to blow our minds *every* time. Cheers from a newbie inspired by your work!

@TeaIngyer
@TeaIngyer 2 года назад
Honestly I think the simplicity of this video idea and project made it more enjoyable than your recent average. Hooked me from start to end, just getting to watch you take a really cool sculpt, and give it a nice, character filled paint job. Interesting and punchy video concepts are cool, but there's something relaxing about a video where it's just someone hobbying. I think my favorite part was the fact you chose a sculpt that's incredibly detailed, and has an awesome concept / visual storytelling, but isn't cluttered visually. GW models are cool, but as you point out they're often cluttered. With this bust every single element is very carefully chosen to give it character, but there's no 'junk', nothing that's just there to look cool with no function. I'd love to see you paint more models like this, or your custom Vampire mini that you commissioned, in this more relaxed style of video. Peaceful hobby vibes 10/10 Paintjob 10/10 Model choice 10/10 I hope you make more content like this in future.

That way of showing the paints used and mixing ratios by annotating your wet palette is sexy AF. Also loved the high quality animation to demonstrate the eyeball reflection. Even when it's not the big point of the video, useful visual presentation of ideas is still super helpful

Very nice work, Scott. The 'kick-back and enjoy' vibe really shows in that tentacle, an inspired piece of painting. A bit like watching a snooker player when the pressure is off. "...And by the way Capn' the pressure cooker canna handle it - she's gonna blow!"

Hurray normal painting videos! Hurray kickstarter! Hurray Scott!! Also, I love the overlay paint names. A weird suggestion as I am on phone and they are relatively tiny but use the color as the background of the bubbles and then the text in a high visibility contrast. My 2 cents. Awesome video my dude.

Speaking as a Scot I was about to be offended until I remembered about my whiskey cabinet which even though I get new bottles every year for Birthdays / Xmas suspiciously never gets fuller or emptier over time. Not painting for yourself for so long takes its toll and also takes away the love you once felt for your hobby in regards to it feeling more like a chore.
