Today we review the Corbin Touring seat for the Indian Springfield. I have had this seat for a while now and have put about 4000 miles on it. So come along for a ride and see what I think about it.

Beautiful looking seat and the red pinstriping really looks good on the bike. I have been considering a Mustang seat for my RK but will definitely look into the Corbin. Your Bike looks great and that Tank badge is outstanding. Thanks for the review!

Thanks. Corbin has a seat builder on the website where you can try out different color options and that's what I came up with. All black seemed a little too much so I put just a little red into it to break it up. Thanks for watching and for the comment. Stay Safe.

Excellent review of the Corbin seat. Looks like a significant upgrade from the stock seat. When I rode the 2018 Springfield in New England for a week a couple years ago my biggest complaint was the comfort of the stock seat. I could only go for about an hour and I had to stop and get off take a rest. Again thanks for the great review. Ride safe.

Thanks for the kind words. I watched your video on your ride on the Springfield and I remember you talking about it then. The new seat does make a world of difference for those longer rides. Thanks for watching. Take care.

Nice setup! I'm sure your wife appreciates it. I had a Corbin seat on our Yamaha fjr. The shape of the seat was awesome! Fit me perfect. Had it for a season or two with probably around 7-10k miles on it. Like I said it fit me perfect but it was hard as a rock, literally. Lol. Well, maybe not a rock but a board would be close. For example, when I pushed in on the seat, it barely had any give to it. Maybe 1/4" and that's no exaggeration. To be fair, I did buy it used so I don't know the specifics of the original buyer. It was listed as only being used once and it looked brand new when I recieved it. Glad you like the seat and backrest! Corbin does have sharp looking seats👍

I will agree with you they are hard, but its seems like after a few miles they just form to you or something. No pressure points or anything like that. I look at Fjr's being a Yamaha guy myself but it just didnt fit with what we were going to do with it. Maybe someday though? Thanks for watching.

@@IdahoMtnRider I loved the fjr and think it's a great bike but I honestly enjoy riding the Ultra Limited much more. Maybe I'm getting old?

Thats a beautiful seat. I like the color scheme. Corbin makes some nice seats , just takes a bit to break in.

Thanks I played with the seat builder on the Corbin website for hours and that's all i could come up with. lol. The pain you feel while it is breaking in is worth the comfort you get later on. Stay safe.

Great review, use to have the Springfield but currently have the Challenger, deciding between the Corbin and the Saddleman Road Sofa.. with them both being around 1k its hard to decide so many either love or hate them lol. On a side note, business out here in CA weren't closed due to Covid, they were forced to close due to useless Government mandates...not Covid. South Dakota closed nothing, I even went to Sturgis in 2020..not a single cough was seen.
@IdahoMtnRider
@IdahoMtnRider 2 года назад
The Challenger is an awesome bike, congrats on the change. You are right about the gov getting in the way of people trying to make a living. Here in Idaho it was pretty much life as normal except for the government offices. I had friends back in Sturgis then too and they said they had a great time I now have about 12,000 miles on that seat and still loving it. Ride safe.

Coming from a scout, the stock Springfield feels like an easy chair. I have ridden for a couple hours with no problem. The scout , I think helped me to develop an iron butt. Anyway, the Corbin looks nice but I don’t think I need one just yet. I have heard that the Indian cooling/heating seat is a bit uncomfortable after a while.
@IdahoMtnRider
@IdahoMtnRider 2 года назад
I have a friend that I do multi day rides with that has a Scout. He said he would be pretty sore after 8 hours in the saddle. He still has the Scout, but also has a Challenger for the longer rides. The Springfield seat is much better than the Scout for sure. For me this Corbin tour seat is the next step in comfort especially for the passenger. But no need to drop the dough if you don't need it. I haven't heard much about the new seat most of the folks I ride with are on bikes that are a couple of years old. Enjoy your new Springfield. Ride safe.

I put the same seat on my 16 Springfield! The stock seat was terrible! I didn’t have any issues with break in I loved my seat immediately! I noticed that the Corbin put me back maybe an inch or so from stock which is great for me but now it feels like my wife is on top of me. I have the stock Indian back rest pad on and have contemplated what you have.Have you noticed the same? I now have the seat on my 19 Chieftain and in total have about 30,000 miles on it and it is so comfortable! Holding up great as well! I use the Corbin saddle cream on it.

That's awesome, I don't have that many mine on mine yet but hope to soon. I did notice that it set me back ( and higher) some from stock and that it took away form the passenger room. I am not sure which sissy bar you have, but if it is the short one I would suggest changing it to the tall one. As the short sissy bar positions the arm rest too low. I haven't got any saddle cram for it but it sounds like it is working well for you so I may have to invest in some. Thanks for watching and commenting, ride safe.

Hi I.M.R. I agree 100% with you about the stock Indian Springfield seat. It's a real butt beater. About 20 miles and my keester is crying. It's a shame because I love the looks of it. Did you have many color choices on the seat material and how much wider is the Corbin compared to stock?
@IdahoMtnRider
@IdahoMtnRider 4 года назад
Thanks for the questions. I believe you can get a seat that is very similar to the stock Springfield seat in appearance. If you go to their website and go to "seat builder" (I believe) you can choose from lots of colors and trims and really make the seat you own. I got the tour seat which is wider than stock but I am not sure what the Springfield type seat would be like. Thanks for watching and let me know if you end up getting a seat or have anymore questions. Take care.

Would you please describe the materials? Is the seat all leather or all vinyl? Or is the top leather and the sides vinyl or vice versa.? I have the same questions about the back rest. How do you care for the new seat and backrest? - Dave from Dearborn
@IdahoMtnRider
@IdahoMtnRider 3 года назад
Thanks for the questions. The part where you sit is leather and the sides are vinyl. They say on the website that leather on the sides dont last very long so they choose vinyl. I believe the backrest has the same layout. I haven't really done anything as far as the care other than wiping the dust off it between rides. I probably should look into what Corbin recommends as far as care. Thanks for watching, Take care.

@@IdahoMtnRider Thanks for your kind answers concerning materials! I love the looks of the red piping on your seat and the diagonal stiching. It may be the nicest looking seat I've ever seen! I found the piping on my heated Indian seat ( on my 2017 Springfield) digs in to me on a long (350 to 700 miles) ride. During my ride through Capital Reef N.P. last June I met a guy on a Victory who excitedly told me that he could ride 5 times as far on a sheepskin "but pad" than he could without the but pad. So after my last long ride last year, I ordered a "large" Alaska Leather Sheepskin "But Pad" which does effectively hide the feel of the piping (at least on the shorter rides I've been able do this year). It also seems to insulate somewhat against the Michigan summer heat and I'm hoping it will insulate against cold too because the heat generation on my heated seat didn't keep me warm when the ambient temperature was 60 F degrees or perhaps lower. Unfortunately since the Covid shutdown, I haven't been brave enough to do any overnight trips. (-I was planning to ride to Yosemite this year and I'm still toying with a ride down to the Barber Museum in Birmingham Alabama before the weather gets cold. I enjoy your videos but unless I watch them as soon as I receive the notice of a new video, I have a difficult time finding your videos. Searching for "Idaho Mountain Rider Oregon Trail", I seem to mainly find stories or videos of people bicycling in both Idaho and Oregon. How should I be searching? - Dave from Michigan.

So that was for the seat the backrest and the quick-release sissy bar? All from Corbin
@IdahoMtnRider
@IdahoMtnRider 3 года назад
No, that was for the seat and the backrest. The sissy bar was a genuine Indian product that goes for around $400 if I remember right. But I think there are some aftermarket sissy bars that are going for a lot less. Thanks for watching and the comment. Ride safe.

Great advice on sissy bar height. How tall is your wife?

She is 5' 8", the person on the back would have to be pretty short not to need the tall sissy bar. Thanks for watching and for the question. Take care
