If you really think it's "objectively" better, than prove it. Except you can't, because entertainment is too subjective to definitively say whether one thing is better than another (to an extent). @@TheJayson8899 By objectivity I meant the obvious elements - such as the camera, the lighting and complexity of the scenes, the actors' performances, the consistency of the story, the dialogues, and the world itself, the quality of the script, the wittiness, the quality of the costumes, and so on and so forth. Any adult will notice this, a child might miss the differences, and the childishness of the SW story (and everything that contrasts with the Raiders) is absolutely fine with him.

A few years ago I was taking a train from Schenectady to the city and when we stopped in Albany, a woman who'd just boarded asked if she could take the seat next to me. I immediately noticed how incredibly striking her smile was and a moment after she sat down I told her she looked familiar and could swear I knew her from somewhere. She said, "I'm an actress, my name's Karen Allen, nice to meet you." Being the same age as the kids in The Sandlot and having grown up a big Indiana Jones fan, I surprised myself and played it pretty cool. We made some small talk about going to the city, I complimented her on her work and gave some small details about growing up with her movies, she asked me about myself, and then we both went on our laptops. I'll never forget her stunning, rare smile that very well could be the most beautiful smile I'll ever see.

I remember my mom taking me to see this in 1981, I was 15 and I wasn't really all that enthused about going to see it, as I hadn't heard about it and didn't know what it was about. Great memory! I also remember not being too excited as I walked in the theater that day in '81. Like you, I didn't know much about what we were soon to see and I just couldn't get past the fact that we were going to see a movie with 'Han Solo' in it that wasn't a Star Wars flick. I remember sitting down, actually wishing they would somehow mess up and just show Empire Strikes Back again instead. Once it got started though, I don't think it took even 10 minutes for me to figure out that this would be one of my favorite films of all time! Years later I got to realize a bit of a dream as I was lucky enough to be an extra in the last-shot scene of the most famous fan-film ever made: 'Raiders The Adaptation'. I was one of the German soldiers in the back of the truck that Marion shot from the gun-turret of the rotating airplane as well as a background soldier in a few other shots. You can see it here on YT by searching 'Raiders vs Adaptation'. It was surreal living out a childhood fantasy in real-life!

@@nathaniliescutotherescue6047 I'm convinced that some celebrities like Ford, DeNiro, and Tommy Lee Jones, are so chronically depressed from some kind of serious foundational trauma that they don't have a genuine connection to joy and require suspended mental states to experience it. Carrie Fisher said that Ford got fun after getting drunk, Jones has said that he has no sense of humor, and DeNiro has always been cagey and defensive. If you look at how each and every one of these people laugh, either in an outtake or in a film, you can almost see the effort they make in making it happen because it doesn't seem to come naturally to them.

No, it was NOT inspired by James Bond, Spielberg wanted to direct a Bond movie but Lucas said he had something even better he could direct instead - Raiders Of The Lost Ark.

To all y’all interested (and too young to simply know this) the film is called Raiders of the Lost Ark. It was only on DVD rereleases (subsequent to the two sequels) that they added the “Indiana Jones and the…” part, as that was the titling format for those two films. But at the time of the release of the original, nobody would have heard of the character, and it wouldn’t have made any sense. And for some reason it bugs me when I see “Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark.” Just bugs me.

Dude, everyone here know the name of the movie. Plus, it's in the title of this video. (also in the movie) "But at the time of the release of the original, nobody would have heard of the character, and it wouldn’t have made any sense." - this is an absolutely logical thing, which does not need to be explained to anyone (who has common sense).

8:05 which is exactly why Sean Connery was cast as his father in Last Crusade in spite of the 12 year difference between him and Harrison Ford, because Lucas felt who better to play Indy's father than the original James Bond.

Ford seems so happy in these. Like he was actually having fun while making movies. I know he never really wanted to be an actor to begin with, but it's like Hollywood pressured him into so many roles over the years that he lost any joy for filmmaking.

Wait I thought the story was that Harrison got sick during the day they were filming the fight with the swordsman, so they changed the scene to have him draw his gun and shoot him. Here we see incomplete pieces of film for a proper fight between them. I thought they changed the scene before any filming began.
