@@JsscRchlDrsy because the other two that came out in that decade were far better. This movie was very poorly paced and the comical treatment fell a bit flat in many scenes. But hey, taste is personal and I respect everyone have their favorites. I saw the movie recently btw. I’m neutral about this film.
It was really something special to be a kid in the 80s. Spielberg & Lucas were like surrogate fathers, not that they had any influence on how a kid should be raised, but the adventures & stories they told were the fascination of so many playground moments. It truly would have been a very different childhood & adolescence without these filmmakers & the icing on top was the ever-popular music of John Williams. ...and it must be said that Spielberg's movies seemed to be better when he had that big mane of hair. Nowadays, he's the best at historical drama, but in those days, he was a kid just like the rest of us & it was reflected in his movies.
When I went to see this with my mom we got there just as they were doing the dance number with "Anything Goes". We both thought we had gone to the wrong auditorium! This movie starts off with a bang and keeps it going.
@@SB992REBORN Meh. Maybe it's because I was a kid when he made those scores from the seventies and eighties, but the stuff he's done in the last decade or so, though good, is not to the same level as back in the day, IMO. I'd say Harry Potter is the last truly great soundtrack he's done.
this is so good. it's unbelievable how hard they worked. I never would have got close to guessing how hard they worked. The fact that the film made it look easy speaks volumes.
Seriously? Her character was so annoying.i know it's not her fault but after Marion and before Elsa it's a disappointment.i don't 🤔 bk she's a good actress but if course I'm super jealous of her cause I'm madly in love and in awe of SS.I also blame her for his divorce from Amy Irving...again I know it takes both of them.
@@Carousel5883 that’s the point. She was supposed to be annoying. Indy and short round are annoyed with her the first two acts of the film. Harrison’s facial expressions when it comes to her behavior are hysterical and priceless. Just watch. It’s the little things in this film that make it special. Harrison’s best performance as Indiana Jones by far.
Temple of Doom was underrated. The plot is an homage to the 1939 film Gunga Din. It has Roy Chiao as a Chinese gangster! Spielberg was criticized for the violent scenes and racial stereotypes.
Despite being born in the late 80's, I had the pleasure of seeing Gunga Din as a kid, and think it to actually be better than Temple of Doom by a smidge. Both were, and remain, excellent adventures.
Karen Allen did not want to be in more than one Indy movie,* which is why this movie takes place one year before Raiders. * Though she was convinced to come back for Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls.
@@wachinimagaming4898That probably started after Karen decided not to be in future Indy movies and honestly it sort of fits with his macho male chauvinist character (which softened with age).
An absolutely fantastic movie, I have actually met douglas slocombe , a lovely man , he was the director of photography. The film is action packed , and if I'm not mistaken the most expensive one of the first 3 to make . But this is truly one of steven Spielbergs masterpieces 😊😊😊😊
Lucas did that himself with the prequels. lol And then selling his "legacy" for cash. lol I Also - funny, I don't see a credit for Kennedy writing or directing or even coming up with the stories for, any one of the films you people seem to hate so much that she was just a producer on - and yet you people never seem to blame the people who actually *MADE* those movies. And funny how you seem to never give her credit for the ones you *DO* like. This may come as a shock to you, but Kennedy produces "The Mandalorian" and produced "Rogue One". But somehow, magically, she disappears when you talk about THOSE shows and films. lol It's so transparent where this crap comes from and the hypocrisy behind it, you really just need to stop. lol
@@redadamearth wow. Just wow. You really need to get a life and not waste it angrily typing longform comments because someone dared to criticize your precious Queen Kathleen. Pathetic
@@stoneyboyd it seems your concerns have been confirmed ..indy 5 is a complete mess and has been destroyed by critics ..how she still has a job at lucasfilm is astonishing she's destroyed star wars and Indiana jones she must have serious dirt on somebody high up
@@DarkLordofTheSith69 I like how you guys think she has every job in Lucasfilm, from directing to writing. Anyway it's gotten initial so-so reviews from Cannes, not "destroyed" lol
steven spielberg said the inside of the temple on the inside of the temple it felt like an opra hall but to me of how big it is it felt like a nhl hockey arena
I love this one because of all the bug scenes and the dinner scene but the last Crusade is my all-time favorite which means my order goes 321 and we’re not including Crystal skull
Spielberg and Lucas are way too hard on themselves about this film. I'm glad they took a risk and went dark. This is a lot of people's favourite Indy film for that very reason (including my sister's). And it's not totally dark - there is plenty of comedy, even in some of the nastiest scenes.
Now I have to ask: Lucasfilm or Paramount, where was this when the Blu-ray set came out back in 2012? You brought back the original making of Raiders from 1981, why not this?

can anybody directly translate what Indy says to Short Round on the bridge as a warning (47:04)? I know it has to be something like "hang on" or whatever, but I always wondered how it translates.
This as the prequel makes more sense in a watch viewing as RAIDERS is better watched that way as it's BLOODIER AND WORSE than temple already violent in its own way!
Lucas was going through a really messy divorce at the time, and he admits that he wasn't in a great state of mind when making it. Probably explains why the tone is darker than the rest of the movies.
You read right, but fuck them. Temple of Doom is beyond a masterpiece. Lucas and Spielberg should hace divorces more often, because it helped produced badassary. Temple, Aliens and T2 prove you can surpass the original by a wide margin.
I desperately hope I walk out of the movie theatre happy after watching the new film ,Not like last time were I sat heartbroken watching the end credits in a state of shock, The list of ILM digital artists and CGI Amateurs must have been in the Hundreds who delivered Awful and Jarring visual effects that should have been delivered by practical effects and stunt people. The new film should be called"Indiana Jones And The Curse of the Sphinx " A script Sadly rejected by Spielberg and Lucas.Paramout Pictures are currently in discussion with J,J Abrams who's script is based on Time Travel? Thanksfor the video.
To me this was the worst Indiana Jones movie. it seems it was more of a how gross can we get picture. and frankly it didn't have the chemistry of the first or the third movie. I don't even have it in my collection

@@redadamearth said the Kathleen Kennedy Simp who gets offended every time someone criticizes her. Grow some thicker skin and get used to people criticizing her. Welcome to the Internet.
I love, love, love, to near worship, almost all the Indiana Jones adventures. However, there is one that is a disgrace, and forever will be known, and derided among family and friends as “The Temple of Dumb”. The real horror is that i can never be rid of it. One poor choice to go, with innocent hope, to a beloved Indy movie, has stuck that travesty to my eyeballs for the rest of my life. 😢
@@rimurutempest9937 And it was all Lucas's fault. Every single stupid moment in that movie, Spielberg fought Lucas on. The aliens. The gophers. The monkeys. All of it was Lucas's stupid crap. Frank Darabont had a GREAT version of the script that worked and that Spielberg and Ford both loved - but Lucas, being the idiot that he is, said, "No, I want to make it dumber."
I didn't like Temple of Doom. The female lead was annoying. The monkey brains scene was the only good one in the movie. Just my opinion. Love all the other Indiana Jones films.
