INDIANA JONES And The SCORE-ONLY Movie 

What movies do you want to get a score-only release? What scores do you want a full release for or wish would get a release at all?

I've so many thoughts about this so I'll try to keep it short. When creating my videos, I typically will boost the music so it's easier to hear what I'm talking about. Having a score only version is perfect for this reason and for others that want to enjoy and study the score in context. The Matrix has a score only/commentary track on one of it's blu ray releases some films change the music after recording and the edits are covered by dialogue or sound effects, like the T-Rex Rescue had music spliced over it, Sorcerers Stone added in a measure during the Flying Keys, or even the 2 beats repeated in HTTYD that were edited in after the fact. having these released as music only might showcase these edits that might only work in the final film that production companies don't want out there. This is why I like having the complete score/scoring session recordings too, to see what was changed or perhaps alternate scores for scenes. While my list would be long as I would love score only versions of many films, the short list would be LotR, all Star Wars and Indiana Jones, The Mummy, Avatar with the original score, HTTYD of course, and many MANY more

As soon as I started serving soundtracks to films (it all started with King Kong 2005), I was disappointed that some compositions that I wanted to hear separately from the film were not in the album. I didn't know much about it then and was upset. Later, I learned about more complete releases and found what I wanted. But I'm leading to the fact that albums of "original soundtrack" are full of fluff, which may not contain any bright diamonds, and sometimes they completely spoil the original material by cutting out fragments, or combining some tracks together (I still haven't forgiven the album for this The Lost World: Jurassic Park soundtrack)

James Newton Howard is such a master of film music I'd adore having score-only versions of his work.

I was just complaining the other day that there are parts of the HTTYD soundtrack I can't get anywhere! I also love Tintin and would be excited to get a full score release for that too.

Looks like my comment was deleted. Trying again. There have been numerous films with isolated score tracks released on DVD and Blu-Ray. Just do a search for them and you'll find all of the title. Some of them even include composer commentaries as well. One of the best ones is hearing Goldsmith and Horner intended score to Alien and Aliens. It's amazing how well Aliens lines up with the current cut even though it was edited to death in post.

Definitely! Definitely! Definitely I would love for you to review the score for “The Adventures of Robin Hood” from 1938. It’s one of my favorite scores The DVD released a few years back included a score only track. I was able to get a recording of the original score and it is phenomenal. All other recordings of this movie’s music are just that recordings and not the original. Before John Williams, there was Eric Wolfgang Korngold. I think it’s one of the most perfect scores ever written, and I would love it if you reviewed it on this channel.

There's so many I would want to see do this. Top of the list is The Rocketeer.

I have a blu ray box set of the original Twilight Zone, and lots of the episodes have an isolated score option. I wish it was more common... it can't be much work/cost to do it.

The Last Jedi has a score only version on Disney+

I'm so glad this was allowed by Disney or whoever has control over this. The whole CD debacle was really bad, and it's hard to enjoy the film knowing some amazing quotes and new music was just left off the album, since they can only allow an hour and twenty minutes on them. Plus, the entire sequence of events starting from the Tomb scene to the Credits is written in a way that makes me think this'll feel like a silent film when watching this version. Edit: They probably put this version on Physical cause they felt bad for those who couldn't get the CD.

There actually have been Score-Only-Features on DVDs before. I own several Danny Elfman-scored films which have that option. My copy of Chicken Run has one too. So, this is nothing new, but certainly something more movies desperately need.

Could they do a release of the whole series this way???
