In America most people pull off to the side of the road to wait for a funeral procession to pass. It is intended to show respect to the friends and family of the deceased in the funeral procession. Most people in this video that stopped more than likely didn't know who the procession was for, but they stopped to be respectful.
@1980bcman
@1980bcman Год назад
It's also the law. It is illegal to interfere with a funeral procession, but these people did it out of respect because it's not required to stop for a procession if it's on a divided highway

@@1980bcman I just looked it up and you are correct to a degree. Funeral Processions have the "right of way" but that does not necessarily mean that you have to pull over, like you have to for Emergency Services. Also, I would be surprised that many people actually know that the right of way it is a law in most states. I certainly didn't anyway. lol So thank you for commenting. I learned something today. So personally I believe that the vast majority of people pull off to the side of the road out of respect in general.

@@stonewall01 I didn't mean to imply that you have to pull over when a funeral procession passes. But if you come to an intersection with a procession they pass first and then you wait until the last car passes. Anyone in a funeral procession can also run red while in the procession

I remember this well. I live in Stephenville, Texas. On the day of the shooting, I was traveling to Alvarado to see my children and was passed by a lot of the first responders heading to the scene. It wasn't until after I returned to Stephenville that I found out what had happened. His killer stood trial in the Erath County Courthouse, which is just a few blocks from my house. It was surreal seeing pictures and video from the trial on the news. I have been in that very courtroom several times. It was a tremendous shock to everyone in this area, and you could see it on the faces of everyone. Chris Kyle is a true hero, and will be remembered for many generations to come.

Our military is all voluntary service. And every soldier and their families sacrifice in their lives while they are of service. For that we love each and every one of them. And when one distinguishes themselves as Chris Kyle did, they are absolutely venerated, and when he was killed, America was shocked and hurt by his passing. The tribute and respect shown on his journey to his final resting place was the absolute least we could do for him. RIP Chris Kyle, and thank you for your incredible service, America is safer because of your actions and better because of your person.

When I was a kid, my father taught my brother and I that when a funeral procession passes, you stop to face the procession and place your hand or your hat if you are wearing one over your heart as a sign of respect until it has passed. I highly recommend the movie -The Hurt Locker. Thanx !

In tribute to Chris Kyle countless American citizens lined up for 200 miles next to the highway, bridges, and overpasses for hours in the pouring rain out of respect and appreciation for his sacrifices he had made in defense of this great country of ours. On February 2, 2013, Kyle and his friend, Chad Littlefield, 35, were shot and killed by Eddie Ray Routh at the Rough Creek Ranch-Lodge-Resort shooting range in Erath County, Texas. Both Kyle and Littlefield were armed with .45-caliber 1911-style pistols when they were killed, but neither gun had been unholstered or fired, and the safety catches were still on. Kyle was killed with a .45-caliber pistol, while Littlefield was shot with a 9 mm SIG Sauer pistol. Both guns belonged to Kyle. Routh was a 25-year-old U.S. Marine Corps veteran from Lancaster, Texas. Kyle and Littlefield had reportedly taken Routh to the gun range in an effort to help him with his post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Routh had been in and out of mental hospitals for at least two years and had been diagnosed with schizophrenia. His family also said he had PTSD from his time in the military. On the way to the shooting range, Kyle texted Littlefield, "This dude is straight-up nuts." Littlefield responded, "Watch my six", military slang meaning "watch my back". Four months later, while he was in his jail cell, Routh shared with former Erath County Sheriff's Deputy Gene Cole: "I was just riding in the back seat of the truck, and nobody would talk to me. They were just taking me to the range, so I shot them. I feel bad about it, but they wouldn't talk to me. I'm sure they've forgiven me." A memorial service was held for Kyle at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on February 11, 2013 7,000 people attended the service. Chief Petty Officer Christopher Scott Kyle April 8, 1974 - February 2, 2013 The most prolific sniper in US military history he has no equal. 330 kills 160 confirmed kills by the US Navy.

I know in my state it is illegal for someone to cross a funeral procession. Whether it be by vehicle or by foot. In my state, a funeral procession is the only ones who are granted the right of way through a red light, stop sign etc. out of respect(besides emergency vehicles on a call). I can also say that if someone does cross the line they are called out with the car horns and shouts. We consider it to be the upmost disrespect to cross a funeral procession.

This is his funeral procession, the white car at 5:10 was the hurse that was carrying his body. In America, if a funeral procession is passing, we pull over and stop our cars out of respect. This is why all the cars have stopped on the other side of the road.
