As old as they are here...in their 60s...still the greatest!! Jason Bonham...son of the original drummer John Bonham who died in 1980...did his daddy proud!!
I can attest to that. Tried to get 4 the moment they went on sale, with airline tickets to follow if successful. Shutout, never had a chance. Thank God the video produced was as good as the performance!
The singer Robert Plant wrote the words as him & guitarist Jimmy Page drove through the Sahara Desert. They were on their way to a music festival, they enjoyed meeting the people on their journey to Morocco. Though neither could understand the languages, they did the music. Robert Plant fell in love with Morocco, & visits there often. It’s the song the band is most proud of.
@@YankeeRoyalReactionary you are very welcome. They have so many more great songs, yes Rock & Roll, but they do a variety of music genres. Considered the greatest band ever by millions & millions of fans. They performed from (1968 to 1980) when sadly the drummer John Bonham passed away. Some great songs Since I’ve Been Loving You * The Song Remains The Same/Rain Song* live at Madison Square Gardens (1973). All Of My Love, a tribute to singer Robert Plants 5 year old son who passed away. Just a few songs to get you started.
The song was based on a trip Jimmy and Robert took to Morocco. They have played this music with musicians in the desert using the instruments owned by the local musicians. Very evocative.
Greetings from fellow Commonwealth country, Canada. Nicely observed, perfectly commented... it convinced me to sub. The singer, Robert Plant is just turned 59 here... check out whatever all the others will recommend, but ensure you do the version from MSG, NYC, 1973 in which Robert is 24. You will get a WHOLE OTHER appreciation of him. Peace, love and bellbottoms.
Ah the Gods of Rock & Roll. You do know this song was in the top 10 requested songs, somewhere on this Planet... for over 10 years straight.... don't you? Try their biggest hit "Stairway to Heaven"... and then ... just too many to single out one or two. Nice review.
Led Zeppelin started out in London back in 1968 / 70 and were one of the bands that were thought to have started the whole heavy rock music together with Black Sabbath and others that came after all British Bands, it took a while for the US to catch up!!!
LED ZEPPELIN are THE FOUNDERS of a very new (here 1975) Music-Genre mentioned in the future "HARDROCK" or "HEAVY METAL" that has NEVER existed in this form on our little blue planet before! They were young (20+) and they wrote milestones in music - Genius!!!
I’m a 61 year old man from Kettering,England and I was lucky enough to see them at Knebworth in 1979.I had to apply for my ticket by sending a money order and waiting to see if I was lucky enough to get a ticket as they could have sold out ten times over. When I got the reply that I had been waiting for at my postbox every morning. I felt like it by Willy Wonka who had won the Golden Ticket. Now you’ve seen them you’ll get addicted but it will be a great experience.’
Roberts fist wife was is from India. "Maureen Wilson was born in Kolkata (formerly Calcutta), India on November 20th, 1948. Shortly after her birth, her family moved to Birmingham in England where her father owned and operated a steel factory"
It was great hearing reaction from 2 authentic Indian woman... always wanted to know what Indian people thought about this song.. it's personally my favorite all time song... Even have it as my ring tone.. thank you ladies
So glad you enjoyed this song and performance of it. I got chills when I watched this performance for the first time, know Jason Bonham must have been bursting knowing he filled his father's shoes so brilliantly. You should watch the Page-Plant - MTV unplugged version of this song. They had an orchestra combined with New York and Egyptian musicians behind them and Michael Lee on drums. It's incredible! I also recommend "Gallows Pole" from that same concert. Epic!
fun fact: Robert Plant was Married to Maureen Wilson (a Desi from Kolkata), and Robert Plant, himself, is part Desi (Roma on his Mum's Side, so historically speaking) (because of course that’s like a millennium ago lol) and tragic not fun fact… sadly their son Karac (Pendragon) Plant died at age 5 of a stomach virus or infection in 77… and he canceled their tour of course… glad he’s able to live and be happy again though
I enjoyed watching your reaction, and you now have a new subscriber. I glanced through your videos and I'm looking forward to watching American Family Road Trips. Led Zeppelin are legendary, and they have many great songs. I hope you react to another one of their greatest songs called Stairway to Heaven live at Madison Square Garden 1973, official video. It's different but every bit as epic as what you saw today.
They were driving across the Northern Sahara (Mauritania?) in some sort of Land Rover type vehicle. Robert Plant fell asleep and the entire song came to him in a dream. He doesn't know if it is about the actual Kashmir, He just felt it was about ancient people living traditional lives; maybe in or near the desert. It certainly is beautiful. I believe he had a spot of bother getting the rest of the band to put it together - it is rather complicated. All in all, not too bad for three elderly men and the drumming son of the original drummer who died around 1980. Sadly, everyone seems to overlook John Paul Jones (on keyboards here). He could, and did, play every musical instrument, and arranged all their music - even those with orchestral accompaniment.
Fun, fun, FUN! I’m an old hippy lady. Led Zeppelin was at the height of their popularity in America, and provided the soundtrack to my high school years. *Kashmir* was, and still is, one of my favorite songs of theirs. My husband and I travel within a few hours’ driving distance to attend the concerts of a local-ish Zeppelin cover band whose specialty is re-creating the exact sound from the studio albums, which often means there are seven or eight people on the stage. They are absolutely *amazing,* and have slowly expanded the radius of venues they play at, from a few mid-Atlantic states, and into the American Midwest and South. I am SO happy for them and their success, even though it means they don’t play locally as often and we don’t get to see them as much. Anyhoo, this cover band, Get The Led Out, always saves the best- *Kashmir-* for last. When the first couple of notes of the song begin playing, the entire audience leaps to its feet, ready to sing along. It’s positively electric and full of joy! You two ladies picked a great song; nothing makes me happier than witnessing young people discovering this music, and so very obviously enjoying it! ROCK ON, DUDETTES!!!
I don't know why they called the song Kashmir. It was inspired by a trip to Morocco and as you will know Kashmir has no desert. Maybe they thought the double syllable title sounded better than a 3 syllable one. Maybe they didn't want the song to seem too specifically focussed, geographically.
focused* and it was probably the fad of being enamoured with India (and rightly so of course), a lot of artists were at the time… it’s just ironic it was during a trip through a deserty area of morocco considering they hadn’t been to Kashmir yet which is basically like southern germany, austria, switzerland lol
@@Cassxowary *focused is the American spelling. In normal English it's customary to double the final consonant of the infinitive form in a past participle.
Great choice. You might like Pink Floyd-Comfortably Numb ,AC/DC - Thunderstruck, RUSH-Spirit Of The Radio and Meat Loaf - I Would Do Anything For Love,But I Won't Do That.
You young ladies should also watch the live version from (1979) at Knebworth. Both versions are amazing, I prefer the older version, when John Bonham played the drums, though his son Jason did amazing on this version. You also might want to checkout the words to this song, to know the story better.
Ummmm, trust me, y'all done heard some of their song's before. "Stairway To Heaven", is one of THE most talked about song's in the world! Stairway To Heaven is the song, that is literally banned in majority of the music instrument store's, from bein able to be used to test the instrument's out on. Another, that I know, that you have also heard, is in a more recent movie(Thor: Ragnarok), as it end's up being Thor's "theme song", when he realizes, that the power come's from within him, not the hammer, and his eye's light up bright blue & white(Due to the electricity). The song is "Immigrant Song". And, another one of their famous song's is, "When The Levee Breaks". Another song is, "Whole Lotta Love". "Black dog". "Dazed & Confused". "Ramble On". And, they have other's, but these are all their top hit's! And, not to mention, how they have been playin, since the 60's! Led Zepplin, Black Sabbath(With Ozzy Osbourne), Deep Purple, Iron Butterfly(You would love the song "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida"), Cream, The Kinks, The Who, Jimi Hendrix, Vanilla Fudge(Not as well known as the other's, though), Steppenwolf, Grand Funk Railroad, Judas Priest, The Beatles, and obviously The Rolling Stones(Obviously), to name the majority of those, who were the pioneer's of what is known as "Heavy Metal" music today. And, each of them, have iconic song's, that you have probably heard before, but didn't realize, that's what you were listening to...
Most of these utube reactions involving foreigners seem a little American Idol ish however. Where are the reactors who hate it? Especially foreigners I mean some Americans hate Led Zeppelin... But ok they probably wouldn't review music they hate. ❤
I hope you have good speakers and aren't piping this through a laptop. Half this song is the power and build-up... only present in a good set of headphones, speakers or live.
@@tobiasisback4605 I wanted to see them tour soon after. I was too young in the '70's to see the original lineup. All they had to do was cut back on the number of tour dates, and allow for more rest time in between dates, if stamina was a concern. Still would've been the biggest tour in history. They said after the one off show, they could've played even better
Led zeppelin best band ever kashmir is for the Muslims i hate to disappoint you girls anyways led zeppelin greatest band ever and ever will be they where truly talented by the mighty God
