I voted for him in 2015 because I saw new ways of thinking, social change, and a focus and dedication on making the lives of Canadians better. Boy was I wrong. Many big-ticket promises were not fulfilled. He has engaged in more scandals and ethics investigations (that we know of) than any other Prime Minister. Serving Canada as a politician is supposed to be honourable -- this is why they are referred to as the "Honourable..." in the House of Commons. Justin Trudeau has completely disrespected the role of the Prime Minister, the Canadian parliamentary system, and most importantly, every single Canadian.

He is a parent and as a survivor of abuse it is very important he show his kids he loves them. As long as someone is looking for acknowledgement and comfort from others healing takes a very long time. Healing is a personal journey. I really don't think kids need to hear all the disgusting details of someone's abuse. That in itself is abuse. I am a survivor of abuse as well as intergenerational trauma from the residential schools. There is a time to mourn and a time to live. I learned energy healing and it is highly effective and I recommend it to everyone. Narcissistic abuse is painful but not permanent. We all deserve to heal. I wish all survivors of the residential schools complete healing and a life of joy.

@@pennyyeomans4115 I don’t disagree with you that healing is a unique journey but a demonstration of trespasser privilege on a day of reconciliation seems, to me, to perpetuate the power dynamic of colonization. We don’t need to subject them to stories to teach children about reconciliation and respect for the first peoples of this land. His lies to the country of where he would be and what he would be doing teaches the next generation that lies are okay as long as you get away with it. To me, that is the opposite of the Truth part of truth and reconciliation. We will have to agree to disagree on the example he has set for the next generation and all colonizer descendants of what this day means. On the first occasion of this somber day, I think he should have led the nation, not gone storm watching.
