Infested (2024) - Movie Review | SHUDDER HORROR Movie 

It's like if la haine and arachnophobia had a kid, didn't raise it right and it developed an evil streak. Absolutely badass.

I'm French and I saw Vermines (or Infested as it's apparently known in English) in theater several months ago. I think it's my new favourite horror movies about spiders, alongside with Arachnophobia. This film was brilliantly made. It might even be in my top 10 French horror movies from the last decade, and definitely my favourite horror films from 2023. I loved the double-meaning and symbolism of spiders in the movie, used for social commentary and as a metaphor for discrimination. I also really liked the way spiders are treated in this movie, as victims who react to this new "hostile" environment they were brought in, and defend themselves against the potential threat humans are. It was quite well done and the dialogues of the characters around it were pretty well written. I also felt that watching in theater was a plus, cause the big screen really immerged me in this building and made the climax pretty intense.

It was totally nerve-racking, but it was pretty good and some of the shots were kinda dope like when the couple are embracing each other then in the background, they have the spiders coming down and the sad music so dope…

Spiders are the one thing that truly give me the creeps, I am still deciding if I'm going to watch this.

Imagine the Arachnophobia movie, but no humor, just the primal 8 legs horror... Terrifying

Really good, uncomfortable movie. My only nitpick was the main character was unlikable since he really never takes responsibility, and then my personal pet peeve is the giant spiders, I don't really understand why almost every spider movie goes for giant spiders but for some reason the bigger they get the less scary they get, maybe because it starts to feel less real. Like I think it would have been much scarier if they just focused on the sheer quantity of spiders since swarms are just inherently frightening and making them just reproduce incredibly fast in huge numbers would have kept the suspension of disbelief through the ending much more for me. But still, great movie, amazing as a debut, honestly hope we see more movies that use real, inherently creepy creatures like this.

I'm going to watch this tonight. The cgi in the trailer ( I assume that there is some cgi, or HOLY FUCK!!) looks really good. Great video!
