Successful implementation of addon detours and a basic LOD system ALPHA RELEASE: github.com/Mee12345/GMod-Infi... COME TEST W/ ME ON DISCORD: / discord patreon: / meegmod
This is like a dream come true, this has lots of potential for storm chasing maps and maybe even localized weather. Also we can finally use jets to fly around
This is such a cool gmod feature. As someone who loves building planes in gmod, it's everything I hoped source could be, someday. Just a slight bit of jank when moving between cells, but I see there's a proposed change for that on the git. Extremely impressive!
Very nice to see a concept like this being worked on again. I remember playing with friends for many hours with the Infinite Maps & Localized Physics mod, but it was just so incompatible with so many other addons. It was fun building vanilla GMod stuff, but this opens up a whole new world. I'd love to see you tackle localized physics at some point, that really makes a world of difference for vehicles. No bouncing around, gravity following it. Spacebuild would be incredible like this.
Very nice! Imagine building whole city that goes on and on with hundred of people with thier own prop houses!

This is freaking epic if you ask me, and this would be something very promising for actual future Stargate maps! Honestly this is probably the best way I can imagine to actually experience Gmod and CAP/Stargate. As one of the main lead developers of CAP I would certainly love to see this work in its entirety with CAP, so in case there are any issues we could resolve on CAP'S codebase to make this work properly for your Infinite map api then I'd certainly could see to it that we could get something done ;) Either way, amazing work, and looking really forwards to testing it myself!
@@_remblanc No, I mean about how he can get other addons to work with the infinite map addon. And how well the vehicles work (especially when going up the large ramp he made).
Can this kinda thing be used by map makers? I know hammer brushes are unstable that far out, but a massive map whose exterior is made of static props could be really cool too!
everything mee comes out with always blows my mind and i can't even begin to understand how he can manipulate source into things like this also what is the portal you were using towards the middle of the video it looks really cool
There's a whole franchise built around the stargates. Stargate as a film and then 3 TV series, Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, and Stargate Universe. There was actually an animated series as well, but nobody really remembers that...
@@number1riker Garry himself said there will be ZERO official mod support and that the game will be purely just game modes. This is said in the S&Box FAQ. S&box is gonna flop HARD as what they are currently doing is gonna be overshadowed by Roblox which is doing what they are doing but with ALOT more. He also said he will not add support for dependencies as he despises them for some reason.
@@number1riker At first though when the game was still being developed in UE4 they wanted it to be just like gmod with mod support, real-time map editing, multi-person map development, dependencies, hotloading(which means you can edit code on the fly), C# support along side lua, and way more. but then they saw source 2 and decided to scrap everything and move to source 2 and completely changed the idea of the game
This is cool. I think this is how The Long Drive game works too, where it’s like in chunks. It's a Unity game but I believe it's a similar premise. Which does make me wonder if procedural generation and seeds could work in this system. Imagine an endless road, for example, that generates twists and turns and things like that. Bet we could have a Wangan map in Gmod now with a long straight.
i got a question how will the coordinates work? will they keep going up to infinity? and how will things be rendered for each player playing on the map
It is possible and mee said he was going to try it. The generation will be extremely time consuming so he might have to pregenerate say 20x20 chunks and store to a file so it doesn't have to be generated each time or something
so alright, its possible to have a flat world, sure, but would this ever work with i guess meshes? maybe a static mesh map could be made that surpasses the bounderies? sure it probably wont have shading but there is ways to making real time shadows nowadays so uuh yeah maybe we can import gta sa to gmod holy shi
Hello, I just downloaded your map and it appears that I spawn in mid-air and can't seem to actually be able to reach the land below me, I just fall infinitely, is this normal or did I do something wrong ?
he said he will do this after everything else is finished BUT there will only be a small amount of terrain movement in each chunk to each chunk generates quickly.
