This would have made such a great story, especially compared to what actually happened. If you know anything about hypnosis, you would know that through torture, many people develop Stockholm syndrome and join their captors in whatever it is they’re doing. They could have used that to explain Tails teaming up with Eggman, and in the end he could have sacrificed himself to destroy the phantom ruby.

I was thinking about something while listening to this: What if Metal Sonic was born in the same timeline as Infinite? Hear me out on this. There’s a theory out there that Metal Sonic is Sonic who failed in Sonic CD. Well, if this theory is true, then Sonic would have been upset and depressed that he wasn’t fast enough to save Tails. This has also happened in Sonic Lost World. Heck, even the plan of the Zeti was to robotize Sonic. And a huge part of the theory is that Sonic got robotized and became Metal Sonic because he was too slow. Well, what if the thought of Tails not being saved slowed him down and that’s what got him robotized. One last point, we saw both Infinite and Metal Sonic in these green chambers. If Eggman modified Sonic and Tails, he would need to put them in something to keep them stable. We have NEVER seen any other character in those chambers besides those two characters. I don’t know, maybe Sega is trying to tell us something…

Man, coming back to this video really makes me wish that this happened and the story was well written for forces

Sorry - one counter argument - I couldn't help myself. If Infinite is Tails, then he is the classic Tails from the game gear era. Everyone knows that, as of your theory. Classic Tails doesn't know MODERN Sonic's moves, does he? Apart from that little nitpick, this theory seems pretty solid.

I'm gonna add on the bit that says that the phantom ruby can travel between different dimensions. First in Sonic Mania I think the phantom ruby transports Sonic into different versions of zones than his.Hence why act 2 is a remix in sonic mania. Then in the classic sonic green hill fight eggman refers to classic sonic as a sonic from a different dimension which adds more evidence. And since Aron said everything is cannon so the game gear bad ending is canon.

In Sonic 2 for the Game Gear, in the bad ending, Tails dies (even though they don't explain it in plain sight). So... Maybe he is going revived with the Phantom Ruby? Just a thought

Oh wow this is actually a really good theory of who infinite is. Like I would have never thought of that until just now listening to your theory and that's a lot of good evidence from all the older games into one way that tails could be infinite.

This theory seems really plausible. His personal beef Sonic seems almost too misplaced if infinite was just a friend of the avatar character and that's it. I think that the avatar character could have easily become friends with tails during Sonic's absence as well. We'll just have to see, though.

Oh, and what may help back this theory up further is that comic release online a few days ago. There's something about a pdf file or whatever, (my memory of this is sketchy at best) and one page apparently showing Infinite unmasked...

But if the phantom ruby seeks out hosts, why does it teleport sonic through time and space in mania, then to modern sonics dimension where there are no hosts. And if the ruby took classic sonic to modern sonic, where did the ruby go? Is it infinites ruby? but didnt he already have his? is it a different one? then where did the first one go? did it just drop sonic off then leave? why would that happen?

You know what…it’s crazy, but you might be right. At first, I’m hearing a lot of “it could be ‘x’ it could be ‘y’” but I don’t hear anything beyond those opinions and theories. You cannot refute facts from counter-arguments by using theories and opinions. Maybe the reason why Infinite knows every move Sonic throws at him is because of the Phantom Ruby, not because he has met Sonic before. Good thoughts on “Infinite” Miles Prower; it’s a good point, but still more theories on the Infinite’s name and not facts. I’m still waiting for evidence. Evidence with the common occurrences of Tails being used against Sonic is a very good point and is indeed a FACT. The Phantom Ruby can indeed dimension jump and that does build SOME evidence- but here’s my tear down: Shadow’s Forces DLC. We saw Infinite before he was Infinite, and Shadow fought him. That bit of exposition debunks the thought that Infinite is from a different dimension. We have seen Shadow travel through time in the games, but outside the comics he has not traveled through other dimensions. The game universe limited dimension-jumping to god-like beings or having all 7 chaos emeralds. Time travel on the other hand is very possible. Good theories, keep up the work and you may find more facts. The music lyrics are a good theory for Infinite’s origin, however…you need to present the cake before topping it with sugar. @Henke pull out a ruler and get to pixel measurements! Find out the cannon height of the other dimension’s Tails in proportion to that dimension’s Sonic to set up a proportion to Infinite and Sonic, and you may have something to bake with. as absurd as it is to imagine that the new antagonist of Forces is Tails, this theory is still very entertaining. dunno what people are complaining about

A have a thing i might add to the last part but first i need to cover a few things. This comment will be long though 1- Eggman discovered three powerful things other than the chaos emeralds so far which are Wisps, Time eater, and the phantom ruby. 2- Eggman might’ve discovered the phantom ruby because of the time eater he could travel back in time to see what powerful weapons/creatures could exist so get some use out of it which could explain the appearance of the Deadly Six too 3- Eggman learnt about what the phantom ruby could do so went searching for it until he found transpoted from mania’s dimension 4- Eggman inserted the ruby into a machine he could’ve created to transport through dimensions to give it more power 5- He went to a dimension where Sonic/Tails could be captive/weak and took him to his world 6- Here’s where the wisps come in. Wisps like yaker contain so much power and it has been confirmed that the power of wisps is great so Eggman took some of those to use their hyper go-on energy on Game-gear Tails so he would be totally under his control. 7-Eggman then designed new boots to make sure sonic doesn’t recognize Tails then he cut his other tail to make it confusing for both Sonics. Then he inserted the phantom ruby into him making him Infinite. Infinite might still remember he is Tails but as Henke said he may want to take revenge from sonic for leaving him behind and because he may be corrupted by the phantom ruby. That’s what i think is the case with this theory but only time will tell who is Infinite.

So then in this case... Wait tails couldn't get rid of gamegear sonic because that would mean no other sonic could exist and how would silver get there? Also my new theory what if infinite is somehow tails mixed with the sonic from that dimension?, now before you argue think of it this way, if sonic forces was meant to be where you always got the "bad ending" that would mean eggman/robotnic captured sonic and could have fuzed them together which would explain his speed, oh and here's a quote from the show sonic the hedgehog show:"Sonic the hedgehog, to fast for the naked eye" and later "He's the *Fastest* *thing* *alive*." then from the show sonic x (sonic adventure equivalent) "moving the speed of sound *fastest thing around*." and finally according to google "sonic can run @mach 7". Now why am I quoting this? Well you see the only way for tails to be faster than sonic, would be to be fused with sonic himself so I think I just helped your theory but I say mephilies could come back and also cause the " flames of desaster "! I'm gonna quickly compliment you. Good job, man. That's a pretty solid theory. Alot of evidence to support it along with the fact that for Forces' trophies. Infinite's trophy when defeating him is named "Bonds of Friendship". However there are some issues: 1. The Phantom Ruby was never confirmed to have merged with Infinite. The last time we saw it, It was in Classic Sonic's possession as he was going through time and space with it and ended up in Forces. 2. The whole "Infinite miles per hour" thing is pretty flimsy considering Infinite's original name was meant to be "Zero". He was later called Infinite in reference to his power *NOT* to the whole miles per hour thing. That's confirmed. 3. The thing on his chest doesn't really look like the Phantom Ruby at all. 4. Infinite doesn't have strands of fur sticking out the front that Tails has. Instead he has long wicked-looking white hair coming from the back of the mask. 5. The whole game gear comparison for this is kinda left field, isn't it? I mean nothing in Mania or Forces material has ever brought up those games and they are pretty obscure to begin with. Don't give me that whole "Silver Sonic" counterargument. Silver Sonic didn't even play that significant of a story role. 6. You talked about the lyrics but if you notice one of the lyrics say "I won't stop until they know my name" and You clearly stated that Infinite might not even remember who he is. Yet this is stated in the lyrics.

The theory is very possible, but it is in no way convincing. All the "evindence​" you brought up here was just mere coincidences. And whenever there is something that goes against your theory, you just pull up the "mutated by the phantom Ruby" excuse and brush it off. I'd be fine with this if it was used only once or twice, but when Infinite's and Tails's design's are the polar opposite of each other except for the "big ears", I start to say something. Overall, the problem with this idea is that it only works if your mind set is "tails is infinite." I bet I could come up with just as plausible of a theory that infinite is Shadow by drawing mere coincidences and random similarities too.

Just because silver sonic appears in sonic mania does NOT, let me repeat that, NOT mean that it is canon. Mania may be linked to Forces, but the game was still a whole call back to the old sonic games. Just because something from another game said to be not canon appears in something canon does NOT always mean that it is canon.

Whoah, whoah slow down partner. This theory is really weak when you think about it. The whole setup is ridiculous. You're saying that Infinite is Tails from Bad ending version of Game Gear Sonic 2. Okay, that's fine but wait! Isn't bad endings always non-canon? It's like saying that Eggman won at the end of S3&K cause he escaped with the master emerald. And even if the Game Gear canon split at this point you are still forgetting one thing: the canon doesn't end here. Sonic is still alive, Robotnik is still around and he is holding Tails captive. And now let's move on to the part of how GG Tails became Infinite. Phantom Ruby teleported to the main games universe, he found Eggman, then he teleported Eggman to the bad version of GG universe, where they took Tails captive and then Eggman modified his body so nobody would recognize him... sounds ludicrous doesn't it? Firstly why it need to be Tails? If Phantom Ruby needs a host why it needs to be a random creature from bad version of alternative universe? Or why Phantom Ruby even needs a host? There wasn't any host in Sonic Mania, and Mania Eggman controlled the ruby without any host. He wasn't at full control and eventually Ruby turned against him but that's why Modern Eggman is making a host body - to prevent situations like this from happening. And let's think about reasons why Eggman is modifying to the point when he is barely recognizable? The point of Eggman turning Sonic friends against him is exactly why he is doing this. He wants Sonic to be overwhelmed by a fact that he has to fight his friends. So Eggman's changing Tails appearance is pointless especially when we consider that he went for the trouble of multidimensional travels and possible fight with his counterpart from Game Gear universe just to get Tails. And how do you explain that Infinite is modern character why Tails from GG is classic one? Also Eggman doing? Or maybe Phantom Ruby is transforming him? I don't remember Classic Eggman from Mania being transformed when he was using the Ruby. Also think about the motivations of Tails. Tails is kind of character that would never turned against Sonic and would rather be helded captive for the rest of his life rather tha turning against Sonic. He is ready to sacrifice his life to the one and only person that gave him hope and wonderfull friendship. That's why Tails must to be mind controlled in order to fight against Sonic and again - why Eggman decides to go for some kind of dimensional travel when he can capture real Tails from modern Sonic world. He can capture anybody from his world and that's the point! He captured someone like Sonic and his friends (aka regular Mobian, or somecharacter that we already know but also from the same universe) And I have this thought now. Why even bothering with getting Tails when he is not so powerfull. Especially in the GG universe when in his first apperance he was captured and that means he is pretty weak don't you think? If you're going to another dimension to get someone close to Sonic and then turn him into ultimate weapon I'm sure Tails would be the last person you would think of especially when there are characters like Blaze. And I could go on and on and it's just a tip of an iceberg. I didn't even get to the details of your theory and there is looooot more things that can be easly debunked. The rest of the theory are just stupi conjectures like "Maybe Eggman cut one of Tails's tails" or "Maybe Tails computer can't read the power of Infinite because he is Tails from bad version of alternative dimension" I will get to this thing eventually but for now on I'm out. @Henke Here's a theory: What if Infinite was created from cells/DNA of Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles by the Phantom Ruby? During the duration of Sonic Mania, Team Sonic were seen interacting with the Ruby and battling it against Robotnik and the Hard Boiled Heavies, Think of the Phantom Ruby being able to copy the feats of each Hero. Physical Appearance: Infinite's Body (maybe shoes): Sonic the Hedgehog Infinite's Mask and Tail: Miles Tails Prower Infinite's Quill/Hair Spiked gloves: Knuckles the Echidna. Infinite could have gained his speed from Super Sonic. We know Super Sonic's speed is incalculable, and as we seen in Sonic Mania's Final Boss, the Phantom Ruby strip Sonic of the Chaos Emeralds before sending him into Modern Sonic's era. Not much evidence, but I think this should be addressed in a Video.

I'm sorry but I really hate this theory. Tails is not Infinite period. And yes the gamegear games are not Canon. Also just because Silver Sonic was in Mania doesn't make it Canon. Its called a EASTER EGG. Like the entire game is. And the song lyrics are just song lyrics. It has nothing to do with the plot. Another thing saying that he was just like Sonic and friends. It was giving an example. Also Infinite's lines have nothing referring to Tails, and the 2 Tails incidents don't have anything to do with it. Tails was mind controlled because he SAVED Sonic from getting hit and it lasted for like 20 seconds, and he PRETENDED to be a robot to trick the deadly 6 and Eggman. I can keep going but I'm done. I Have some theorys -maybe the plot twist is where the avatar does a fist bump with infinite and he becomes good? -maybe infinite will go haywire and he will just kill everyone -maybe gamegear is connected to mania and eggman just needed the phantom Ruby to complete infinite

Another thing which may work for supporting or debunking the theory is that, along with the Tails dies recurring joke, Aaron and many others that appeared in the Sonic livestream have said that “I can't get used to calling him ‘Tail’ anymore”. So either this is a clue to Infinite’s identity or it’s just a joke that Aaron made up and as such it is not what happens in the game

In sonic lost world, tails didn’t snap out of Dr Eggman’s control. He reprogrammed the computer so he doesn’t fully become a robot. Plus he faked being a robot.

i got 1 thing.. in sonic mania in true ending you can see knuckles and tails looking up after destroying eggman and seeing the same star thing (constellation i don't know) but as sonic... at the same time sonic was going through dimension portal... it is the same constellation but there's sonic than tails... does this mean that tails somehow travelled through dimensions with eggman?

The worst part is in the final product there is no plot twist for infinite it's just another sonic game with no real effect on the story but seeing this theory makes me think that this could have been what sonic team was makeing but they decided that it would be to dark for the sonic series.

I do have a quick counter argument, in the episode shadow dlc, eggman said “You! You’re the leader of squad jackal! Your squad failed me! He calls him the leader if squad JACKAL, not fox. And when he meets shadow, “You! You destroyed my squad! I’ll show you why they call me the ultimate mercenary! He is working for eggman even before the phantom ruby is incorporated into him. I have seen tails in past games, and he would understand Instead of just straight up going for revenge. Even if eggman was somehow mind controlling him, that still doesn’t explain why eggman calls him a jackal. Then there is the fact we saw the classic tails in sonic generations.And just because he is another animal, doesn’t mean he specifically is tails. He could just be one of the animals eggman captured for his robots over the years. Back to episode shadow, he says he gave up his own “unsightly” face. Not I was suddenly controlled and forced to do it. So I would like to check out this evidence and make another video in the future!

Another hint is if u pay attention to his battle he hesitates before he attacked as he was trying to fight it. But it could be knuckles to.

Minor error I noticed. Lost World is actually the most recent Sonic game developed by Sonic Team before Forces, not Generations. That's my only issue.
