I have a 2012 M37S with the sport package. Bought it in 2017 with 87k miles and now it has 121k miles. Very good car. The only major issue I have is the 4 wheel steering failed shortly after I bought it. So I have the 4ws and traction lights on all the time for the last 3 years. Fixing the issue will cost a lot of $$$$. Otherwise, it’s a great car in every way, performance, comfort, and style
Have you had anyone other than the dealership look at your 4WAS issue? Some people have had access with minor repairs to the rear rack motor and have posted on the Nicoclub.com forum
This is AMAZING video so much useful info. I'm just trying to buy m56 / q70 currently and now I know exactly what I want and how to distinct between them! Thank you so much man!
Damn you're stocked up on Infiniti's, nice. I have a dinosaur compared to these cars. Saving up for a M56, I have a 16yr old G35X. Really not needed here in TX, but got a great deal on it. I've owned many Nissan's and just switched back to them with the G35x. It still is a great car considering how old it is and the mileage it has. I've never had such an old vehicle that still drives like it's newish. Other than the regular wear and tear on the suspension. It does love to consume oil, that's a given due to its age. Ive never had an older vehicle that drives like this G35x. Even when I had a 300zxTT it was 12yrs old in 02 when I got it. It was a great car but it was obviously old. I had to replace everything on it. Then again, it probably was beat all to hell. Same with a 02 Z28 Camaro I had, it was only 7yrs old when I had it. It was probably ran hard it's whole life as well. It still drove strong when I sold it at 220k. Only domestic I had that wasn't a pos other than a Lincoln Ls I had. Can't really say how reliable that car was, as I ended up totaling it after a yr of ownership. But the 95 M3 I had was a pos, it was 14yrs old and it literally started to fall apart on me. Definitely regret getting that car, the parts were expensive because it was a Beemer. Only thing that gives my G35x away age wise, is the wear and tear on the seats. As well as the paint it's scratched and there's some dents due to the exterior not being well taken care of. But the engine is in great condition, and I've babied it since I got it. It has 206k now and it will definitely last past 300k. That's the great thing about these Infiniti's. Other than most G35s, they have likely been taken great care of. You can almost guarantee that they haven't been modded and ran hard for the majority of it's life. If my G35x drives and handles this well, I can only imagine how nice the M56 will be by the time I get one. I'm wanting to get a 2011-2013 model. So it'll likely be 10-8 yrs old. These cars are slept on, ppl like to diss on Nissan's. Every one I've owned have been great reliable cars. I drove the shit out of the 300zxTT I had. It never gave me any issues whatsoever. By far the BMW M3 I had was the biggest headache. If you take care and maintain your Nissan/Infiniti it'll last forever. They definitely are a great investment. Best bang for your buck, won't find another luxury sports car for the price. Rather have an Infiniti over an Acura, Lexus, Cadillac, Lincoln, Audi, BMW, Mercedes, etc. Thanks for the video though, a lot of good info here. Much appreciated
I also love my old Infinitis. Aside from the fuel economy, I much rather drive my 08 M45 than rent a car most times. And I'm not afraid of miles either, so I try to drive as much as I can. And I love the M & G AWD system because it's RWD-biased. But then it's there to give you traction precisely when needed. I feel that side by side, an M56x would launch off the line better than a standard RWD model, and I believe it would be the same for the Gs. So as much as it doesn't snow much down there, AWD has its benefits
Wow! RAS/4WAS was a big piece of what made infiniti stand out vs bmw, mb, audi... That eliminates the q70 from prospective purchase. Great info. Appreciate your time Ed. Yes write the article! I'll read it
The article is already up 👍 And honestly 4was is one of the main reasons that I've held back from getting a Q70. I was planning to just buy the exterior pieces for my project car
I purchased a 2015 Q70S 5.6 it had 5400 miles i never owned a Infiniti and after driving it i totally fell in love and will never get rid if it one of my favorite cars I've owned 👍🏼
Tried searching for the sport package specs versus the base specs and no where did i find such a thorough drill down. I really appreciate your channel as a new owner of a moonlight white 2013 m56s with 31k miles. I believe after mark weins you sir will be my most watched channel on you tube. Stay safe and god bless. Ahmed from Bahrain
Thanks for the kind words Ahmed. This video took a long time to complete plus a few retries because of all the detail I wanted to include. I also decided to draft up an article in case someone wanted a written reference but I'm not sure many care about written media really, haha. I'm not done though, I have a part 2 discussion to sport models that I am still putting together. I got encouraged because this is one of my most popular videos recently, so we'll see how the next one is received. Oh, and I coincidentally just got introduced to Mr. Weins. Seems like a guy that genuinely enjoys his travels and experiencing other people's cultures.
@@xdxd-ip3yg the 5.7s fueling ain’t Easy, however super fast, comfortable, cold AC, but kinda small in the back for the kids. Changed the starter motor only.
Very informative and interesting. I also have a m37x deluxe touring with tech, sport wheels and brakes. Love the car I'm second owner with 49k miles mint. Car was originally $64
Very informative video. One thing that I don't think I heard you mention is that the deluxe touring package that gives you the silver infused wood trim was not available on sport models (at least I don't think it was, could be wrong). So if you see the silver infused wood trim then it's highly unlikely that it's a sport model. I've never seen a sport model with the silver polished trim.
Thank you for the kind words. And you are correct that the whiteash silver wood trim was not an option on sport models. Only after getting rid of my X did I get to know how desirable the deluxe touring package was to some. I would have made a video focused on it. Otherwise, there was a lot of ground to cover in the video, and I did my best to keep it about what the Sport model *has* instead of what it *doesn't have* , for example a transfer case. I know of at least one sport model owner who sourced the whiteash silver trim because they like it, which is a discussion that could have changed the theme of the video.
I like the 18's, lighter, slightly better acceleration and mpg, more sidewall for driving comfort :) wish I could get an M56 with 18's and the deluxe touring and tech packages but they're never optioned that way
See that white car in the video? Yes, it came exactly as you describe. I only switched to the 20s because I had them lying around and I was quoted a stupid low price for the 20" tires.
Ok ok I gotta know. Which is your favorite? I have an m35 base/journey and an m56S. I def love my m56s, the power, the look and the handling. But man, my m35 rides so nice and those engines are no slouch. it's really hard as I consider selling it
I considered selling my M45, but over time realized I liked it just as much as the M56. Different cars for different purposes, I like the way the Y50 handles for a daily driver. Sometimes the M56 feels like a roller coaster, it can be dramatic.
Currently in the 2009 Acura rl 3.7 305hp sh-awd and previously had the 2j gs300 the M37xs is my next low key bang for my buck nothing beats Sh-awd Tho an M56xS or fx50 are gems not many videos comparing the 350 f sport vs M37xs Hoping M37xs is the right choice
Before you settle on buying one, you should test drive both and let us know how the GS f sport compares to the M. Nice cars I bet, but most of the Lexus offerings are not really my type
I have a Fuga 370 GT Type-S and your spot on man :) Except mine comes with reclining seats in front and yall have the 5.6 and we don't here in Japan just the 4.5 Y50, 3.7 Y51 and then hybrid...
They did us wrong in the US market, lol. They took away a lot of the passenger comfort features. But I suppose for me, I'll just be happy I got the features I want and use as a driver.
As far as the LSD, I know it wasn't an option however I was wondering if there is an aftermarket option, that you know of. I've looked and come up empty by searching for the R208 rear diff. Just wondering if another gear set might work?
I briefly looked for any other compatible diffs. Unfortunately every other diff I found to start with was too low a ratio to change out from the M56 one. You'd probably get some kind of a code.
Since I can’t find a 56s only 56 base I’m considering adding the shift paddles and brakes also adding air intakes and doing a complete exhaust upgrade, coil overs , sway bars at least it can get modified to one 🤣 oh yeah change the front bumper and black out the head lights
Good video but someone is really considering buying the sport model they need to realize a lot of things you get extra on the sport model comes with a bigger up keep cost, do your research before you decide whether it’s the base, X or the sport. I got a 2011 base which has everything I wanted without the cost of a technology package extra 3,500 or the sport bigger wheel and calibers comes with price which is fine if that’s what you want, but like I said do your research.
Thank you for the kind words. My experience has been the opposite of what you fear. I always get the technology package in my cars and never had to do anything out of the ordinary with those systems. Breakdown and maintenance is the same as any other car, except for maybe the 4WAS system on some of the 2011-13 models.
Good info ed. Learned a couple things. The inside of the headlights are different and there are actually 3 different types of bumpers (base sport and vader). U didn't mention anything about the trunk spoiler. Guess that wasn't a sport only option.
@@EdBwoy ed can u answer me this please. I have base model and want to upgrade my brake calipers to akebono. Do I need to switch my 18inch wheels to 20inch?
dirtlamp hey I actually have a 12 M37x wanted sport brakes since the M37xs didn’t start until 13 I did the brake upgrade and still have my 18s on and they cleared did the work my self i have the deluxe touring 18s vs base 18s not sure if that makes a difference but I don’t think so
I would have to meet up with someone willing to let me borrow their car. I think the M37 engine is more than capable. 4000 lbs isn't all that heavy for a midsize luxury car. I'd still love to compare the entire lineup though
@@EdBwoy I'm still stuck Ed... I like both the y50 and y51. They're both very comfortable and enjoyable, however i cant really get a good feel for the long haul interior feel in the y51 as i can only test drive. For you, which is more of a long term comfortable enjoyable ride for both you and passengers; the y50 m, or the y51 m? Thanks again for this vid. It's helped me spot a fake 56xS
@@dontadeshun from the factory, only half an inch 😂😂 But with age, the AWD models tend to retain their original height better, so their wheel gap looks dramatically larger compared to a similar year RWD.
Are these cars as reliable as the Lexus LS400 430 and 460 models?? I want to buy an m56 but I'm scared if I'll be able to afford to fix it if something goes wrong
To be honest, if reliability was a major concern, I would focus on the Lexus. Not that this car is bad, it's just that it doesn't withstand abuse and neglect like most Toyotas would.
Hi, im planning to purchase m56. I heard if m56 has rear worm gear issue. It’s very hard to fix even at Infiniti dealership. Have you seen or experienced rear worm gear problems??
They could have been talking about the 4was motor in the rear steering rack in sport models. The dealer cannot disassemble it for you, because they are set up to replace the whole assembly.
I would love to leave my Infinity M35 with you this is my first Infinity I love the ride it's fast mechanics be robbing me for the parts 😔🤷🏽♂️ another thing where I live it's snows I have a rear wheel I have to get rid of this s*** but I had fun why it last💨😉
Hey man I have a quick question... I'm in NYC and have a 2011 M37x....Would you know where I can buy engine mount brackets, I can't find anywhere that has them and they are back ordered at the dealer? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Do you mean the brackets, the metal pieces that are bolted to the engine and then rest on the engine mounts? I have to clarify because I can't see the metal failing easily. Either way, I have found that the owners of this website are usually willing to help me locate hard-to-find parts: www.infinitioepartsdirect.com
I have a black M37x and just down the street at an Acura car dealership they just got in a M56xS with 80k miles on it, and I dunno if i should trade my 37 in for it since I enjoy the handling of it over the 56xS (though its way much rarer) when I went on the highway for a test drive. It's truly a monster though in the power department and it feels right. But my 37 feels like it should too. Should I make the trade? It's 19k for the 56xS. Last year there was one around the area for 15k but I got the 37x right before the 56x was posted.
19k for an M56xS is a great price, especially with the mileage. I suppose it also depends on what other packages were optioned to the car. I would say taking the trade also depends on where this leaves you financially.
In all honesty though, if the M56 did not wow you during the test drive, don't get it. Since handling is a higher priority for you than rarity, stick with what you have. Test drive an M37S if you get a chance.
@@EdBwoy Yeah it's all good financially. And the power certainly wowed the hell out of me; same with the sound. Just wanted the input on it and thanks. I think I'll go for it. Thanks Ed! :D
Hey I need some help I’m looking at a 2013 m37xs with 192,000 miles for 8300 here in Florida what should I look for or keep in mind that’ll have to get replaced later on
I would inspect it just like any other vehicle with 200k miles. Unless you see proof of receipts, figure out the suspension is almost due. The M-related things I would look out for are that the AC or heat blows evenly all over the car, and if you have heated+cooled seats, that both functions work. Test the dome lights too. Scan for codes, because done V6s had galley gasket issues like other VQ37s.
Ed i have an issue with my 2012 m56x headlight ..water got in it and it looks like a need a new headlight ...any suggestions where i can get a good hid headlight ?
It depends on various factors. - V6 or V8? - what other packages does it have? - exterior & interior condition - Maintenance history - Location & availability
@@EdBwoy San Antonio tx , v8 bulk on blk with the sport pkg. It looks like a solid car, also found a 12 with 65k with exact same options. I don't want to over pay since your the expert on these cars, I thought that I'd ask you. I was looking at the charger rt at first, but saw the M56 and fell in love with it. It's not perfect but it checks all my boxes. Thanks for any advice you can give me.
Good day , I have 2011 infiniti m56x. My Stability control light comes on when I hard Accelerate . When I trun the car off an back on light gose away. I changed ecm & abs module. Still haven that problem. Really don't know what to do now.
I got a question concerning my 5.6, so whenever power power is introduced or taken away, the drive train makes a clicking noise. I have AWD if that means anything
an intersting fact from russia bro: you can meet here infiniti M25/37/56, q70 2.5/ 3.7 /5.6 and JDM nissan fuga 250 gt / 370 gt/hybrid, nissan Cima y51
The FX wheel paired with the tire is approx 6 pounds heavier than the stock 18" wheel & tire. Very close to the M56 sport wheel ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KF1_4UtTN2c.html
