As someone who grew up in a very similar situation, your points are spot on. The older kids are 100% caring for/raising the younger ones. I would also like to add that while the kids may think they’re okay with this situation, when they become adults and realize how they were treated their feelings about it will almost certainly change. Children want to make their parents happy, and probably think that they’re fine with having their lives blasted all over social media. As an adult, they’re going to realize how much their privacy was violated in order to monetize a lifestyle that they probably won’t agree with in a few years. Using your kids to make money on social media is disgusting and shouldn’t be legal.

Oldest of four here: there is zero chance that the ONLY DAUGHTER in a “Christian family” of this size is not the auxiliary parent. There’s a good chance she’s doing more of the housekeeping (buskeeping?) and toddler care than Mr. Just-My-Baby-Daddy.

If the baby was born in the bus and hasn't even been to a doctor, then they probably never got a birth certificate. I recently learned that this is a big problem for a lot of children whose parents try to keep them out of the system. It makes me wonder about the other kids and how many of them are going to be unable to get a job or a bank account when they get older.

I follow the Fundie snark subreddit. One major problem is with the youngest child. The baby's showing signs of health problems and neglect. The baby is out in the sun without prtection and has sunburns/tans at just a few weeks/months old. The baby is showing signs of birth trauma (born in a small bus shower without medical or a post medical check). The baby never smiles or laughs and almost always is crying, frowning, or staring off into the distance (seems unable to eye track from possible blindness).

It’s extremely concerning that the oldest daughter has no privacy. Imagine going through puberty as a girl and not having your own space or being around other girls your age. Same with the teen boy. You share space with your sisters and have no other teens to befriend

I remember how annoyed I would be every year, having to take the family picture for our annual Christmas card. Having to dress up, and smile, and pretend like we're way more perfect and happy than we actual are for a bunch of strangers I don't even know. Now imagine having to do that every single day.

It's actually pretty terrifying to think that the kids not having access to screens = kids not having the only remaining way to access the outside world, resources, ppl, etc. If someone wanted to raise kids in a trapped environment, that's how they would do it: leave them with nothing to compare to, no one else to talk to, and isolated in this little family echo chamber.

I remember one time a daughter on one of these insanity family buses wanted to SLEEP IN A HOTEL for her birthday. It's so sad.

Coming from a large family, these big families often rely on the labor of the older children to run the household. Parentification is a huge problem and often results in strained and imbalanced relationships between the older children and their parents.

You cannot convince me that all 8 of these children are happy and healthy and they all live together with zero issues. Edited to add: YES, I’m well aware that even families who don’t live in a bus have issues. Thanks to those who clearly don’t read the comments before them and repeat the same sentiment. It’s kinda not the point though! This family present themselves this way, as being happy, healthy with no issues, it’s the entire premise of their brand. I’m not saying they’d be happier in a mansion with a bedroom each and a pony. I’m just saying I’m not convinced that this family are as happy, healthy and issue free as they portray themselves to be.

I'll share my experience of growing up in a large Chirsitan family: Note: There are nine kids, I am one of them, and my two parents. And to preface: please take in mind that this is my families personal experience, and defenitly not to norm for people from large or small families. 1. Space and privacy: We live in a nice 3 story house which has plenty of room for all of us (and as an introvert I get plenty of alone time, which is nice). I only have to share a room with one other sister (who is my best friend, so we both looooove the arrangement), my two lil brothers share a room (they have their own beds), my oldest sister and brother have their own rooms, and my three youngest sisters share a large room (once again they have their own beds). We aren't cramped at all and have plenty of free space, not to mention a decently large backyard that we can play around in. 2.Education: Yes, we're homeschooled, but both my parents were teachers before they decided to homeschool us so we are getting quality education. And we get to go out with friends and hang out at our local library etc so we aren't socially hampered lol Sadly several of my friends have moved out of state recently (which is a bummer) but we still chat and video call often. 3.Parental love: my parents have done a great job on raising my siblings and I equally, and I've never felt ignored or neglected (I'm the forth child btw which is in the middle-child range, so if the middle child isn't neglected, you know no one is lol). And I always can confide in my parents (of course, some things like P and other girl stuff, I can't talk to my dad about bc that's just akward lol).... I did have my own rebellious teen era , but my parents gave me plenty of space,love, and support as I tried to figure myself out (and they've done the same to all my other siblings). 4. Sibling Relationshios: Of course my siblings and I have gotten into our fair share of fights, but honestly none of us can stay mad at each other for more than five minutes and would end up laughing and playing together after any argument lol. But most of the time, we have a good time together (as mentioned beforehand, we have friends as well, so it's not because we have no one else to play with, I guess we just naturally get along or smth) I know a lot of people talk about the "older siblings have to be proxy parents to the younger siblings" but we never had to deal with that (trust me, I've talked with my three older siblings A LOT now that we are older). My eldest sister is bossy tho, but she is the eldest and they usually are the bossy ones, but we have great fun doing crafts and playing CODM together. .And every single time I baby sit my younger siblings I get paid by my parents sooo yeah, I'm not getting taken advantage of. Btw My older brother is in college rn, and my older sisters both have jobs (yes, they still live at home, the economy is too horrible to live elsewhere) so I'm the oldest child in the house most of the time. 5.Healthcare: don't worry, we have insurance, birth certificals (all of us were born in a hospital) etc. We go to the doctors every year for health checkups. A lot of us have glasses (thx for the genes Mom lol) so we go to the eye doctor routinly. So yeah, our parents make sure that we are in good health! 6. Electronics: I think you can tell by my comment that we're allowed to have phones/tablets etc. The younger kids do have screen restrictions because they're young and don't need all that blue light. Us older kids (highschool age and up) take care of our selves bc my parents said we are old enough to make our own decisions (they will step in tho if we are making too many unhealthy choices, like staying on our phones all day every day to the point we are ignoring our health). My dad is kinda a tech nerd, and I'm one too, so yeah, electronics are loved in our house. 7. Publicity: My parents don't even have social media other than facebook, and they never post stuff about us (expect to close family members via a private DM). After my Dad retired from being a public school teacher, he taught cyber security and online safety classes, so he's kinda paranoid of putting pictures of us online because people can use AI to make perverted deepfakes and highly discourages anyone from putting pictures of their children online...(safety first people..) 8. Quality of living: yeah, if you read the entire essey before this, you probably can tell my family has it pretty good. My dad worked his behind off to provide for us, and my mom manages the money he brings in. Of course, we aren't spoiled and have to do chores to get allowance (don't freak out, we each take care of our rooms, and have one other domain to care for, it takes about 30 mintues a week for us to take care of all our chores...many hands make light work.) The adult children don't get allowances tho, they have jobs, and get to live at home for free lol . 9. Conclusion: I know not every big family is like this, this video proves that, but my parents are literally one in a million. They've done a pretty amazing job if I do dare say so myself. They didn't jump into having a large family as a status symbol or smth, they just decided to accept however many children God gave them, and made sure to care for us in the best way possible once we arrived. . Having a big family is defenitly not for everyone, and I understand that, but I really wish people online would stop belittling large families such as mine because of crazy parents like this (and the older generation of parents that didn't realy parent at all but instead neglected their kids a lot). I have been bullied by ppl online because of the size of my family more times than I can count, and I hope that no one else is bullied because of the size of their family, big or small!

It's also worth mentioning that these children have no support system or access to other adults outside of their family. I was homeschooled myself and think homeschooling can be wonderful if done well but speaking from experience, homeschool families already have an issue with being somewhat isolated and insular and these kids don't stand a chance if they do have any issues with the way they're being raised or if there's something more sinister going on within their family.

Imagine ur 10 and living in a huge house with your family then one day ur dad has a bout of spiritual psychosis and forces you to live in a bus and never go to school and ur mom keeps having children so the amount of available space is getting smaller and smaller and you can’t ever have a quiet space alone, and you never get a sense of stability nor are in a specific area long enough to build friendships so you only know your family - ur essentially a cult in a bus. Sounds like pure hell

"Your children don't have screens - but they appear a lot on ours" is hands down the most disturbing thing I've heard in a while. Also, them gushing over how their kids are each other's best friends is such a red flag when you realize those kids have no other options in friends or best friends if they're homeschooled, constantly on the move and don't even have a phone to chat with anyone else at all. Not even to call a support line or straight up CPS, that's what I'd be aiming to do if someone stuck me in a shoebox with seven siblings, and parents that make me act out cringe for clout.

Appreciate your consistency in blurring out the children. I try keep my kids off social media wherever possible, although I've been frustrated by well-meaning friends and family.

I’m one of 8 kids myself, and I love all my siblings and wouldn’t trade them for the world, but I wish I grew up in a somewhat smaller family. To this day, it is weird for me to spend time alone with my parents. They came to visit me last year and I spent an entire day with them by myself, and it felt so strange, like I wasn’t sure what to say to them or how to act. I realized I had never had their full attention before and I was receiving it for the first time at 30 years old.

I have been thinking extensively about the blurred lines on social media for children--aren't these children performing labor? Yet, they are not earning money and there are no laws to protect them. I wonder if 20-30 years from now, we will see legal cases where children sue their parents for using them to make money when they were in diapers.

I lived with 9 people in an 80m2 space as a child and it was literal hell. That’s all I have to say. Being a teenager is unbearable in those situations.

This is the most healing thing I’ve ever heard. I grew up in an over crowded homeschool house with my nine siblings. There was no space. No privacy. If you were the same size as your siblings? You shared underwear. You had food taken off your plate every day because there was too many kids for how much we had. It IS a nightmare and we DO unpack the trauma. Thank you for being upset at what is happening and not letting it be normalized. I couldn’t talk till I was three, and read and write until I was between 10 to 12. The second you could read, you were responsible for your own education. There are so many grades that I skipped that I should not have graduated high school.

The comment about being on screens while the kids aren’t allowed screens is exactly what turned me off The Duggers many years ago. I remember watching it with my school aged daughter and thinking “Really Michelle? It’s ok for my kid to watch your kids on tv but if we had a show, your precious gems wouldn’t be allowed?” And we disconnected cable shortly thereafter.

It’s kind of baffling to me how people all over the world live in small spaces due to necessity, yet these influencers try to make it look glamorous for their kids to have to be cramped, have no privacy, be removed from school and friends, etc. most people who have to make a small space work for a large family want to be out of that position one day. As a punishment for watching TV passed by curfew, my parents punished me by forcing me to sleep in their room for a month. I only hear them having sex once when I woke up and I was so traumatized that even almost 30 years later I still haven't been able to process it. I was 10. I put the pillow over my head and I was crying praying that they stop, I can still hear their moans and movements. To this day, I haven't been able to have a normal sex life, most of the times I find sex repulsive, I tried therapy but it didn't work. I strongly believe that hearing your parents have sex as a child is one of the most abusive things a parent can do to their child.

I love this series because it feels like the closest to understanding the true nature of influencing. People make money which is not inherently wrong, but like all jobs, it depends on how you do it and what their intentions are.

The thing is, with many of these RV/bus families, the children usually have no privacy or space, which the parents have an actual room with a king sized bed and an actual door. Entitlement at it's finest.

Being a single, full time working dad, with four kids aged 5,6,9,11 living in a 550 square foot house I find it impossible to believe that those kids are happy. My kids are surprisingly nice to each other, knock on wood, but that only means that there’s a limited amount of conflict between them every day. My grandmother had six children by age 27 and she told all her daughters when they got married, "do not nave 6 children, you will not have enough time to give them what they deserve." and she was a homemaker while my grandfather was in the army. There's a reason why people have less kids these days because resources are tight. And maybe you have enough physical resources but your hours in the day are always a finite resource. Big famlies can be wonderful and people find happiness in them of course! But it's something that you have to consider when adding more and more people dependent on you.

I don't understand how they think Jesus wants them to exploit their children and gives a hoot about social media. This is what THEY want to do. And if they say they are living a simple life to be like Jesus, they should be giving all their influencer money to the poor. You can't have it both ways.

I lived in an RV with my boyfriend and two dogs for three years. Living in an RV isn't peaceful or stress free, you're just trading in one set of stressors for different ones. My RV was around 300 square feet. That wasn't even enough personal space for the two of us. I can't imagine adding 8 kids.

Back then, my grandparents, who had 12 children together, told me about how they lived together in a small house. But they worked very hard to make sure each kids are well fed and loved. As soon as they have an opportunity to move out to a bigger space, they took the chance. One may argue people in the past cramped in a small space with big families, but heres the point, they had no choice. This family here, the parents are committing a crime. Thank you for raising this attention. I hope someone will get to them and change their mind.

As a homeschool family, it takes a lot of effort to effectively homeschool your kids. Being part of a community of other kids is so important. These kids have none of that. No friends, no community, no support system. Just siblings.

Ok, I grew up in a large, low income family (9 kids currently). When I only had 6 siblings I lived in a trailer. We were also all homeschooled. It's a similar size and 7 kids is a similar number, so I want to compare that experience. Me and my siblings were neglected emotionally, academically, and somewhat physically. Our mom was a stay at home mom, but she didn't have the time in the day to properly support all of us. Older kids would be homeschooling younger ones. My oldest sibling, at age 12, helped with the home birth of one of my younger siblings. We had 3 bedrooms, with 3 kids per room and the youngest with our parents. There was no privacy. My oldest sibling was rooming with 2 toddlers. They hated it. We would spend most of the day outside doing random projects and wandering in the woods. All of us were behind in school to the point cps later put us in public school. I'm also very worried about the safety of these kids. None of them have phones, which means no ability to call 911 or family tracking apps. They are famous online, which means they have some creepy followers, that's just how it is. Their parents document where they are at any time. They are constantly in an unfamiliar environment. I hate to say it, but I'm extremely worried one of them will be taken advantage of or even kidnapped.

I have this feeling that families like this one don’t actually live on the bus full-time. I feel like it’s just a façade just for the channel and just for the views. There’s just literally no way that you could live in such a small space with so many people… Hell even three or four people living on a bus that small would be absolutely impossible to be done comfortably.

A lot of our parents' and grandparents' generations grew up with 5-7 kids in a house under 1,200 square feet, and sharing bedrooms with 2-3 siblings, but the main difference is they were able to leave to go to school, hang out with friends, play sports, etc. So they were only packed in that house during the evenings and overnight. Having grown up in a family of five in a larger home, I can't imagine having to deal with either situation, but the bus with 10 people sounds like a nightmare.

The lack of privacy is actually dangerous. This will not end well for many of these kids.

All I heard regarding the kids not having any phones or tablets or screens at all (especially the oldest/teen) is that they literally have no way of contacting anyone in the outside world ever. Can't ask grandparents or safe family members for help if they ever needed it. They're completely reliant on their parents and the decisions their parents make

Knowing how often influencers fake their contents for views, I wonder if all of this whole “a big family living in a bus” is all a big lie. I can easily imagine the family having an actual house and living there most of the time but going for a road trip over the weekend or something to get their week’s worth of contents filmed. Or, if they’re rich enough, get hotel rooms every other night or something.

Whenever RU-vid pushes any family and kids videos or shorts in my feed, I always block the channel and sometimes report them. I am baffled that RU-vid had no rules in place to protect children. It seems money wins over ethics.

I am one of 8 kids. and we were also homeschooled most of our childhood. Let me tell you, after spending the day doing school together, the last thing I would have wanted was to be crammed in a sardine can bedroom with all my siblings! Lol! You need a break, even from people you adore. My family is very close, especially all my sisters, we are literally best friends with each other, but our parents never had to shove us in a bus to make us be friends. At one point we lived in a three-bedroom house, so there was just a boys' room and a girls' room, but only for a year or two. The best thing for us was when we were able to move to a bigger house (not a mansion, just a normal house) and had more space to have privacy.

There’s an episode of Wife Swap (circa 2004!) where one family is a bus family. At the end of the episode, their two daughters beg them to go back to school and join team sports. The parents compromise was to take them to homeschool sports in places they traveled to. So the kids never got real friends, they were behind several grades in school (as found in the episode), and were never really happy with their parents. I always wondered what happened to those kids.

I'm a single person, living in a 250sqft studio apartment. 200sqft for TEN people? Absolutely not. That's ridiculous.

I'm a SAHM mom of four kids and I homeschool them. It is hard enough to deal with four kids in a four bedroom/2 bath 1600 sq ft home! I couldn't imagine having four more living on a bus! This is ludicrous 😂 I have binge watched all of your videos on this influencer insanity and OMG you are right on point with everything! And I will admit, I have been sucked into buying everything from skincare to clothes to home decor and organization. I look back now and realize how much money I have wasted and it makes me nauseous 🤢 There definitely needs to be more people talking about this behavior.

This gives me a disgusting/disturbing vibe... It's not much better than having children growing up in your basement. And the fact that she called her kids "things that need me for survival" sounds like something you would hear in the asylum, not from a happy mother having a happy life.
