INFP asking INTJ for advice 

We only speak much about ourselves to people we're close with, but it doesn't need to be romantic tendency. In fact, I don't think we would be this open to a crush cuz by definition they're not as close as we want to be yet.

@@ardidsonriente2223 yes but the main point there was they could just be really close. INFPs can still share their problems, they just tend to process it themselves first before doing so. It's a similar vein with my sister and I.

Ni-Fi especially when sufficiently developed, can intuitively "feel" when someone is being fake. Also it's quite evident from context that the INFP isn't meaning *literally* everyone, but rather that they'd been facing fake people more frequently at the time of the question. Being pedantic like Sheldon from Big Bang theory (Si) isn't an INTJ trait. This question is particularly relevant because INTJs usually have a hard time socializing in the early life phase, mainly due to Polr Fe function. Social situations can require you to wear masks and be "nice"; most INTJs are generally too honest for their own good and tend to express their Fi. INTJs tend to be very blunt and direct. Most INTJs notice early on that other people aren't necessarily expressing their honest feelings, and that they tend to wear social masks more skilfully. Therefore, the sentiment that people aren't being "genuinely nice" isn't lost on an INTJ.

lol sometimes I think people don't understand INTJ humor and just get offended. I've noticed that INFPs are inside their head all the time and usually to the detriment of themselves. They are such amazing people, and I hope those who are struggling can become stronger when it comes to protecting themselves because we need them in our lives!

I'm an INFP and this hits a bit too close to home. However, this is completely true, sadly.

I tested as an INFP. I used to dwell specifically on a few things I did to other people in the past. I essentially did an "apology tour" as I called it. Most of the people I apologized to said "I dont remember and I probably forgave you a long time ago." But it massively helped me, I never thought about those things again. I did only focus on what I considered bigger things. I also spent some time specifically crafting the apology, which helped me process it better.

I think everyone should see a therapist, but I wish they have better luck finding one they jive with than I did. I'm an INTJ and the experience I had was largely not impactful because they wanted to focus too much on how I felt and less about how I think. Feeling arises from thinking, if I feel bad it's because my thinking is off, and that's largely what cognitive behavioral therapy is about... Another issue I had was that they felt the need to water their explanations down. I'm intelligent enough to discuss different tests and studies and if I don't understand something I'll ask for clarification.

Same. INTJ female with an INFP partner here. Even though I made everything clear 7 years ago at the beginning of our relationship, I'am now facing cold behaviour for the same ideals after we got engaged. It went to the point where he just disrespects me now, and I'am reconsidering the entire relationship with him.

Not like you need to read this, but yeah, that's a major flaw with INFPs, we can get stuck in past issues and bring them to the present moment which can only cause turmoil, so can't blame you for breaking up, specially if you were crystal clear to her.

I think the main issue with miscommunication was when she used intuition to decipher what was wrong with me (which I don't mind), she changed it into how it related to her worst fears, or things felt like they weren't working out and she thought or blamed herself because of her mental health. She never understood that my emotions are sometimes a plethora of jargon in my head and hard to decipher even to myself. So when I seemed upset, or uneasy to her, she put it on herself even after explaining it. I told her, those moments I have to handle alone but she would know when it is too rough. She never gave herself the chance to distinguish that.

This is fantastic advice, and I relate to this a lot. I'm an overthinker and I got into the pattern of analyzing conversations way too much 😤 even after they've ended! Sometimes we need to take the pressure off of ourselves.

Ah...you have discovered the 'good listener' trick. Most conversations are just occasions for ppl to take turns running their own monolgues. A person who isn't just waiting for their turn to speak is rare. In fact, most ppl are never really listened to. So when you say nowt, they get to ramble on. Welcome to the world of the psychologist. For $100 an hour they will listen and affirm, but never interrupt. INTJ's do this for free.
