Scratch your head along with me as we figure out what went wrong with a simple stuck trigger on this 1/2" air impact wrench. Was it the throttle valve? Trigger stem? Gremlins? And learn from my idiotic mistake as I didn't do the very thing I said I'd do. And paid for it.

You can fit the trigger after fitting the valve body, Start at 90° anti clockwise, push in trigger and then twist it to 12 o Clock. Clips right in 👍

Thanks for the video.... I bought my 2235 quiet tool and I think my inlet is messed up now it sound like it barely has power... any ideas of why it just blows air out through the muffler and has almost no power ? Thanks !

Congrats, great job. Have you considered buying broken air tools at flea markets and Craigslist and practicing on them?

I haven't, but that's an excellent suggestion. Thanks, Daniel!

Hello again Lindsay Thank you for another Great Video. Question for you about the trigger. I didn't see a spring per say? I saw the o-ring being too big. And old dirty grease, causing it to be stuck. But under normal operating conditions what releases the trigger? Again thank you
@CoyleTools
@CoyleTools 2 года назад
Hello, George! There is tension on the valve stem, and the trigger hooks onto it. When the trigger is pushed, it moves the valve stem and the valve stem opens the valve. When you release the trigger, the stem springs back to a neutral position, closing the valve and returning the trigger back to original position.

The trigger o-ring comes with the tune-up kit. Kit # 2235 tk-1
@CoyleTools
@CoyleTools 8 месяцев назад
In this case the tune-up kit wasn't required. The valve and trigger cost far less than the kit would have cost. Plus the kit you referenced doesn't have a valve.
@seanhazelwood3311
@seanhazelwood3311 8 месяцев назад
@@CoyleTools It comes with the throttle valve, I just installed one. All o-rings, entire valve assembly (except the steel inlet bushing), vanes, bearings, etc. The statement was that you have to buy the trigger to get the o-ring, I simply showed another route. Price wasn't the question.
@CoyleTools
@CoyleTools 8 месяцев назад
@@seanhazelwood3311 Yes, my statement was I had to buy the trigger to get the o-ring. Your statement was you have to buy the entire tune-up kit to get the o-ring. I'd rather buy a $5 part to get what I need than a $45 kit that comes with a bunch of stuff I don't need. When charging a customer, price is always a question. And I needed the reverse valve, not the throttle valve. So in addition to the kit price, I'd have to also pay for the correct valve. For the scenario in this video, that's not a cost-effective option. The reason I had to buy the trigger to get the o-ring was because that's the only choice I had from my supplier. They do not sell aftermarket kits. I do not purchase such things from Amazon or consumer retailers. I buy only from wholesalers or other B2B suppliers because that keeps the price down and the quality high. I get guaranteed OEM parts, and that's not something you can count on when buying just anywhere. If you're a professional tech, I know you understand the wisdom in that. Nobody would purchase parts from me if I paid retail prices, then marked them up to make my required profit, and I can't stand behind the quality. I'll get the exact OEM parts I need and save the customer money every time.
@seanhazelwood3311
@seanhazelwood3311 8 месяцев назад
@@CoyleTools Damn, no sense getting hot about it. I just offered another solution. It sounded to me as if buying the trigger was the Only way to get the o-ring, which is incorrect. Btw, I'm a plant mechanic. We go through about a dozen of those guns per year using them in our process. We only order from IR, not amazon; we're not allowed to order retail. I searched the videos for a simplified disassembly process because I have to rebuild several at a time. I can understand retail repair and costs, but I don't have to deal with that. If I tear a gun (or anything else) down that far, I replace every available wear part so I don't have to do it again in a week.

My gun trigger is stuck on all the time. What could be broken there?
@CoyleTools
@CoyleTools 10 месяцев назад
It's too difficult to provide a diagnosis without taking the tool apart and looking for the problem. There are a number of things that could cause this. If you wanted to look at it yourself, start by disassembling it and seeing if anything obvious is broken. But proceed with caution. If you take it apart then decide to have someone else look at it afterwards, it's more difficult to troubleshoot if it's in pieces without replicating the problem. Or worse yet, it was re-assembled incorrectly and has problems in addition to the original one. If you'd like me to take a look at it, email me at Repairs@CoyleTools.com with the model number of the gun and I'll give you shipping info.

Good job! The tool you have is a 2135TiMAX, the grease your using IR#67 is not for impactool mechnisms, its for high speed angle heads use IR #105 grease, also do not use Marvel air tool oil in IR impactools, it swells the o-rings and IR will not warranty the tools.
@CoyleTools
@CoyleTools 2 года назад
Thanks for the info, although there are no indications on either the grease or oil packaging stating any limitations or voiding warranties. Plus, I am not an authorized repair center, so I don't perform any work under warranty, so there's nothing for me to void. I've been selling and using this exact same grease and oil for six years and never had a problem, but if there's a better choice, I'll get it. I appreciate the advice!
@emothetoolman4437
@emothetoolman4437 2 года назад
Air tool oil IR #10 or similar clear oil, the Marvel oil swells o‐ring which is an issue in IR 2100 series tools on the trigger o-ring and reverse valve o-rings causing them to swell and stick, as far as the hammer grease IR #105 grease, it has anti-wear properties, does not harden or crystallize.

@@emothetoolman4437 Thank you for this. I always used MMO... that's what everyone on the forums stated. My orings finally hit the bullet on my 2135TI impact and I am rebuilding the entire thing this weekend. Found the spec sheet and I should be using 10Z4 air oil from them. I'm picking that up now actually. Also new hammers/grease 115-4T. I never knew one had to do that honestly. I've had my impact for 12 years now. Bought it used. It's been fantastic!
