Inheritance of X-Linked Genes

We all know that DNA is the molecule of heredity, but we didn't always know that. It had to be demonstrated empirically. As it happens, some of the first evidence put forth had to do with genes found on the X-chromosome of fruit flies, which allowed us to know with certainty that certain traits must be associated with information on that specific chromosome. Let's see precisely how this was done!

Thank you for your videos, they are a great middle ground between dense, technical scientific literature and overly simplistic high level overviews. Very helpful for someone trying to get an accurate conceptual foothold. I'm programming a simple evolution simulation and these videos have helped it to be at least be somewhat predicated on realistic principles.

Fascinating that you have chosen color blindness as your example. My son happens to be color blind, but I’m not. So I have the carrier gene, and passed color blindness on from my grandfather, into my son.

I have a question. Would a heterozygous female fly mating with a white eye male, have the possibility to get a female fly with with the white X from the Male and from female leading to a white eyed female fly or is that not possible.

How would this apply to albinism? If a child has a mother that is an albino what is the chances of them producing a child that is albino?

When around my father I just want to give up at life and just die, he has never worked a day in his life, he a crack head/drug head, he very unhealthy, he never supported me, he blames his problems on everyone else, he has full common sense but refuses to use the brain god gave him, he calls everyone the devil who’s doing better then him, he says in order to be successful you have to give your soul to satan, hes a leach, he’s 50 and still lives with his mother but his father was a very successful man (he was a boss and owned business) my father has more then a hundred lazy bones in his body, I’m 20 Nd black of color what I inherited from him walking into man hood was bad hygiene, bad health, I never peaked, missing teeth, doubt that I will be somebody and confusion on how to be a man / my mom is a hardworking mother and father and what I inherited from my mom was to never give up no matter how bad my situation is and a hardworking work ethic on the job and positive mindset off the job
