This video provides a tutorial on DNA replication. DNA replication occurs in three stages, initiation, elongation and termination (OriC). Pre-replication protein complex binds to OriC to create a replication bubble and replication fork. DNA replication is initiated by recognizing the site of origin of replication. Helicase enzyme unwinds the DNA strand by breaking hydrogen bonds and topoisomerase enzyme prevent the formation of a DNA supercoiling.Single-stranded binding protein binds to single stranded DNA to prevent reannealing and protects from nucleases.
The following topics are covered in this lesson,
1. Initiation of DNA replication (origin of replication, OriC)
2. Replication bubble
3. Replication fork
4. Unwinding of two strands by helicase
5. Function of single-stranded DNA-binding protein (SSBP)
6. Role of topoisomerase enzyme
