Loosing the z order when grouping, feature or bug? Have you had a problem with the bounding box clipping off your outlines? In 1.x I have had some really strange behavior with that. I got a corrupted default.svg and had to reset it.
When you use group, Inkscape raises items in the stack to sit together by the top most item, they should be in the same order relative to each other but will all be side by side - can't have other items between them. I have experienced the odd glitch from time to time. I find closing the program down and restarting sometimes helps. I have had to reinstall Inkscape before when problems persisted.
Combine will colour all the shapes to the colour of the top shape and depending on with fill rule you have selected, it may produce holes in the combined shape - the fill rules are the 2 little love heart shaped things in the top right corner of the fill and stroke dialog box if you'd like to give them a try.
Hi! I do exactly as in this video tutorial, trying to get the same result shown in the video for the Combine operation ( Ctrl+K). However the result is always different; something like Union (Ctrl+ +), but with the fill color being that of the top object and the outlines of the two objects being visible. Using version 1.2 here Could it be some bug? Thx.
Just tried it on mine and it did the same. If I put one shape inside another and use Difference to cut it out, then use Break Apart to separate the paths again, then Combine works as it should, so yes, it looks like a bug with Inkscape 1.2 You can report bugs to help the developers, for more info on reporting bugs you can take a look at: inkscape.org/contribute/report-bugs/
Sorry Renato, there is a simple way to rectify the problem, if you open the Fill and Stroke dialog box (Object - Fill and Stroke) - in the top right corner, in the Fill tab, there are 2 buttons that look like hearts. these allow you to choose whether intersecting sections are filled or not, so you can make it behave the same way as in the video. So you should be able to get the same results. Hadn't thought of that when I replied yesterday.
Why do I sometimes get an absolutely different shape than the ones I am using or the one that I must get? Sometimes there are random lines and stuff. I don't know how to explain it better, but I hope you understood what I meant.
I'm not sure whats happening, sometimes if there is something wrong, such as you're trying to union a group with a path then it just doesn't work. Try zooming in and see if they disapear, it maybe a glitch in the program. You could also try closing down all open Inkscape windows and restarting the program with a new document and see if you have the same problem.
@@CreateForFree I tried to reinstall Inkscape, but it still doesn't work. The thing that happens is when I use Path > Difference the stroke stays. I still don't know if I explained it good.
If your computer is full of old files and programs, it might be worth backing up your files and resetting your computer, once you have wipe your hard drive. You can reinstall your programs, files and updates. I do this to my computer from time to time, it keeps it running faster and stops a lot of the glitches that start to occur. IF YOU DO THIS, MAKE SURE YOU MAKE BACKUPS AND KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING - it too late to go back once you've wiped everything!
Just want to thank you for this video, I have watched sooo many Path's video until I am blue. Finally, you show while doing the Path - Difference, one simply routine that ensures success. In video at time 9:11 the Circle must be on TOP and the Rectangle must be BELOW the Circle. OBJECT TO BE SUBSTRACTED MUST BE RAISE TO TOP AND NOW THE PATH - DIFFERENCE OPTION WILL WORK FOR ME. I have been modifying and modifying and modifying, No More Now Thanks To You.
