Betting big on the flop on that AJ hand was a really nice move that I don’t think a lot of people would notice.

Thanks for the feedback. It's one of those small things I was the most proud of during the session lol.

Often times when your bluff and value bets are the same, it's too easy for the villain to call your bluffs. Probably best to go over half pot in both cases. The chips you lose the times villain folds when you have it will get recouped when your bluffs get through. You can't give villain a good price to snap you off.

I have had a bad feeling (I felt my decision making that day was off, or something just felt awkward) and sure enough it was a bad session. I've also walked in feeling in tune and won. I have had plenty of days where I didn't feel one way or the other and had to evaluate myself throughout the session. So, I think there is just as much value to that as applying value in other decisions during a session. Though,, I wouldn't be compketely outcome oriented.

Hi Alec - any insight into why you buy in shorter and not looking to cover the players you definitely have an edge on? You def aren't the only pro that does this on HCL just curious why some choose not to cover the weaker players. Love the content.

Hey, thanks for that! Many reasons. Look up Sharp Ratio for starters. Another is the asymmetry. I don't play often (no other public games are this big that run in casinos - biggest is $20/$40 at Wynn), so I get maybe 4-6 sessions while in SoCal, then don't get these stakes for a few months. Don't need to win, but don't want to have negative variance, then sit on a loss without possibility to play through it.

I just left the poker room tonight before getting seated because I lost my desire to play after waiting for 2 hours. It’s an hour drive to the casino for me. I wish I could have had an opportunity to play, but I’m glad I decided not to play after getting that feeling. If you aren’t in a good mood, you should probably do something other than play poker.

That's rough. I know the feeling. I used to commute hours back and forth to Commerce and local casinos in SOCal when I was coming up. Definitely requires some extra will to get a session in. GL to you!

11:43 i do not agree about the value on calling here Alec. The issue is, IF you improve on the turn.. HOW do you proceed... There is TOO many players in this hand, to Call the Raise. You think about the Value without seeing the Danger... I think playing for 40 years (i'm 56) have given me an analytical "Radar" that helps me avoid getting drawn into foggy situations 🙂
