Same bst as mega Rayquaza, ability allowed it to deal even more damage to any mons weak to the move it used, it's the hardest boss in the franchise if you don't use something like zoroark or steel types. And they may have done this change so that other pokemon can have it now(Battle Bond). I personally don't like it, as Greninja is my favorite pokemon but, my opinion isn't important.

And to answer your question, anime-wise, Greninja fans are so toxic, that they wanted him to return when it would not make sense no sense whatsoever (at least for Sun and Moon), it becomes so repetitive and annoying you could feel the toxicity more than the move Toxic in the games, how salty they became when it lost to Mega Charizard X, claiming it had the type advantage, despite not really since it was a fire/dragon, yet they also forget that it won against a Mega Sceptile, whom it was at a complete disadvantage, and that they also deem him as the strongest Pokemon, yet his feats don't even compare to any of Ash's other Pokemon. Game-wise, Greninja, and its "cool" form, has been used so much that it made it less enjoyable to use or even fight against since you'd know that there'd be someone who'd use it (not including how most users would react should you counter it) and because of that fact, Greninja essentially outshines almost every Pokemon (considering that he was so busted like an absurd form that could use z move, he rightfully deserved to be nerfed badly) Also, even if I didn''t bring some of the past disagreements I've seen from Geekninja fans, that in itself should also show how toxic a certain community is that it doesn't matter if it became a stereotype since it is so common

@@marshalllee6376 well the thing is, megas were formed by the shots of the ultimate weapon, and as it's pretty obvious in the anime the bond phenomenon isn't connected to this, so Ash-Greninja isn't a mega, another reason is the fact that Ash-Greninja doesn't use an item to change forms but an ability, so Ash-Greninja is more like normal pokemon who can change forms, like palafin or wishiwashi
