I love that knot you use. Its a very good knot for big stripers/ big fish. I love the knot. haven't broken off unless the line is damaged by rocks and ect.
Yes and striper has to be 18 inches to keep in the state of california. The 1st and 2nd one you caught looks shy of 18, better safe then sorry getting a ticket. If its right there at bordline, just let it go
