I did a similar build to this for my durge run. But I started with tempest cleric for heavy armour + shield, thuganomatry, guidance then sorcerer draconic for the extra damage with element at level 6. With the mourning frost and snowbust ring until act 3 with Markoheshkir with Kereska's Favour. It was a fantastic build

I'd like to add a correction as Ray of Frost from the Staff is not compatible with Charisma builds. The ROF on Mourning Frost uses Intelligence as a modifier. I have around double the hit chance now that I respecced and picked Ray of Frost as a Cantrip. Hope this helps!

The stat used for items depends on the last *new* class that was picked. For example, if you pick something like Bard last, the modifier for Mourning Frost (and all other items including scrolls) will be Charisma.

one thing i'd like to mention, if you forego storm sorcery, and instead choose draconic bloodline (white dragon variant) you have even more damage potential with cold damage due to its level 6 passive, also you still get flight, but it happens at level 11

You get Flight from the Illithid powers at no cooldown and no spell slot in the very beginning of act 3, and it practically replaces Jump.

I really like this build. I think I'll do a new run with this build. Some personal notes: 1) don't forget that throwing or creating water can be done by other party members. For a fighter or barbarian throwing something will only cost 1/2 an action or a bonus action so some nice synergy here. 2) While this class alone does a lot of dmg, it should be emphasised more how good the frozen condition is. Bludgeoning vulnerability makes monks 2x stronger, force vulnerability makes warlock's 2x stronger, some very nice combos here. 3) last couple lvls on sorcerer don't do much, so you can multiclass into cleric (tempest) to get destructive wrath, which gives max dmg on a lightning spell once per short rest. For chain lightning this is 80(or 160 if wet) confirmed dmg.

You can get conjure greater elemental and use one of the staves to free cast once at lvl 6... the are heal of greater water elemental speads huge amounts of water and applies wet as well as healing alies within range I pair it with my paladin wearing the boots that generates lightning charges while standing on water... I find this is the best way to constantly spread water because the elemental and fly and teleport with a bonus action

Cool itemization. To improve this, maybe actually pick the Cantrip so it scales with your Cha for sure. And swap one of those Ability Score Improvements with Dual Wielder so you can wield Morning Frost and Markoheskawhatever in Act 3. More chance to hit, free spell casts

Better gain Ray of Frost from your Sorcerer class because staff uses INT to attack roll dice.(less chance to land a hit)cause with your modifier you must have atleast 85% chance to hit on this 16:30 AC.

I did this build in a past game but with draconic cold sorcerer to get Armour of Agathy. At level 6 you get elemental affinity and it adds your charisma modifier to the damage of cold spells and cantrips. So when you combine elemental affinity with the potent robe and the necklace of elemental augmentation, ray of frost is dealing a tone of damage. I also used the Absolute Protector shield as it has the chill version of the Fire Shield spell which felt very on theme, it also meant that with the combination of Armour of Agathy and Fire shield that if I got hit by an opponent I often one shot them from the combined damage. I honestly think the cold draconic version is a lot more powerful, yes storm sorcerer gets you the create water spell but you can also just use Shadowheart to do that.

Ran a similar build in my last campaign, a cold/lightning based storm sorcerer comboed with a tempest cleric is great. Another item that compliments this team is the trident of the waves (which makes enemies wet on hit). I gave this to Tiger barbarian karlach, and using the sweeping attack could wet a ton of enemies.

You have a 15 in dex and a 17 cha until level 8, you might as well make them both 16 to enjoy the extra initiative and ac until you hit level 8 and put both points into charisma

You can't do that. In character creation, only 2 stats can reach 16, he already pick 16 CON, 17 CHA.

if you drop elemental adept (wet condition does the same for you) you can take dual wielder and equip 2 staves. giving you e.g. another +1 to spell save dc and spell attack rolls for the cost of 1 ac.

Id suggest taking dual weilder feat so that you can use that one staff in the great mages tower and use draconic blessing (ice) that increases Ice damage and gives "encrusted with frost" aswell it also gives "Cone of frost" and "Ice storm"

I have a very similar build on my Gale, the only thing I'd have to add is that level 1 dmg spells (especially Ice Knife) become pretty useless in comparison to the buffed Ray of Frost at some point, so it's really worth exchanging some of them for Shield or something utility-based

you can also use freedom of movement spell from hired mercenary it will give the same effects, and change the boots to get more ac, immune to acid boots , or any other boots

While Mourning Frost does give you Ray of Frost for free. That version works off int so you should get it yourself if you're using it on sorcerer. Otherwise it's going to be inaccurate and potentially hit for less with your equipment.

No that's wrong it does damage based on your last level taken so if you level pure sorcerer it's based off charisma if your last level was wizard it's int

Just tested it, it scales with the last level you took, i created a lvl 1 sorcerer and it scales with charisma (just check the combat log to be certain)

How are you holding a staff and a shield? My friend made this build when he made his character in my hameplay and Im lvl6. So we dont know if this is something you van do at a higher lvl or a mod, etc.

Quest reward for the Avenge Glut's Circle quest. Given by Glut once sovereign Spaw has been killed. Sold by Lady Esther at Rosymorn Monastery Trail. Found on a counter behind a Lava Elemental and Water Elemental near the entrance to Sorcerous Sundries, alongside a Coldbrim Hat, Gold Wyrmling Staff, and various scrolls.

I don't know about specifically this but I will say that the general rule is spells cast and effects inflicted by items have DCs independent from the user.

They nerfed the mermaid out fit ;o;........ I am also doing a Pryopalidin build for karlach. Well only 3 palidin at sacrifice of extra atack. Well to be honest theres no fire other fire spells beyond wall of fire sooo...... but so far as pure red dragon sorce she uh she reaally burrrnnns. Also Its nice having a sorcer to do twin haste. The amount of broken builds we could do with level cap raised. Assine OOT warlock. oooffffff Shadow Asssin with shadow strike. They where smart to not to have a max level of 20. I am going to do 1 rouge and 11 shadow monk for my evil back staby durge. Or just keep it pure shadow monk for all the feats. I was expermenting this with a githyanki fighter with savage atacker and greatweppon master. But I think having one shadow punch man would be broken with tavern brawler, with knife of the mountain king in hand but using the unarmed option.

Unless you're using a hireling for the buff, your first spell picks should be Mage Armor and whatever else (Shield). At low levels MM isn't that great, but then neither is Chromatic Orb other than a few instances where you need electricity at range to hit a puddle. It's odd that your character at a higher level has less AC than my Gale Sorcerer at level 9. I'm sitting at 20, not using the ring or cloak of protection, because I use Mage Armor...

@@TheSpudKing Magic Missile isn't good at level 1. I didn't say it wasn't useful or good, because it's one of the best spells, it's just NOT worth taking as one of your first two spells, or at the very least, it's not worth taking over Mage Armor at level 1 unless you are playing Draconic. You also didn't become proficient in shields "because you picked Sorcerer". You get proficiency in shields because you picked a Half-Elf. Half-Elves and Humans start with it.

Sadly in my experience evo wizard only prevents initial aoe damage and not the ice in the ground. Found this out the hard way fighting Grym. Had him down to 5 health and my monk slipped while going in for the kill.

I wonder why bother learning Elemntal adept if you are playing via wet condition? This feat is very underwhelming in this case. If not totally useless. Or do i miss something?

There are enemies who is wet resistant, who can remove wet etc. and if you out of actions/spell slots you still will beat through them even with cantrip, so yeah, we can get ASI or.other feats, but for safety reasons EA is also nice choice

As for Cleric, i am doing a pure lightning build now with exactly 2 levels in Cleric for max lightning dmg skill so he is indeed great plus, as you have already told, gets proficiency in different equipment. I wanted to do an ice build later but your video shows that it is possible to mix both with good efficiency so will continue doing 2 in 1. Didn't know about this cantrip peculiarity btw. Thanks.

Shield is a half elf or human racial and if you pick the dual wielding feat you can dual wield staves because they are categorised as versatile weapons. Versatile weapons can be wielded both one or two handed.

Dual wield feat, and go for abjuration wizard and get Armor of Agathys, Warding bond with one of your clerics and Blade ward, you have a cold demon

There is also a mod that contains bunch of outfits. I'm using potent robe but have that dress on for camp outfit and set outfit to camp.

Make sure to convert your lv2 to sorcery points. At lv10 (my current lv) I have 15 sorcery points which I can use 5 extra actions. L You just need lv1 for water, 3 and up for your other spell’s slot.

adamantian medium and heavy armor are quite good. Yuan-ti mail is also very good. And there are quite many more, so ehm I really don't agree. Best gear should be in act 3 ofcourse.
