Summer is in full swing. Everything is hot, from the water, the temperature and especially the fishing. Spanish have been thick as thieves right now. So far, the 2024 Summer season has been the best quality that I have seen in 7 years. I haven't run across any ax handles, but majority of the Spanish I've landed this year have been between 17-19''. With as warm as the water is, I feel like they've hung around in shallower water more than normal. I started off looking for bait, birds and busting fish. Once the birds guided me in the right direction, it was on fire until I left. I started throwing a 1oz Precious Metals jig in the Gold/Silver. Once the bite slowed down, I went to a small profile lure (Glass Minnow Jig) and began putting fish back over the rail. Later that morning once the Sun was high, I put on a 3/4oz Gunslinger Beach Bum Lure and picked up right where I left off. Links to be able to purchase each lure can be found below.
