Explore the advanced capabilities of China's Yitian Air Defense System, a cutting-edge solution for modern battlefield threats. At its core is the TY-90 missile, initially developed in the late 1990s for Chinese attack helicopters. This sophisticated missile features an infrared homing guidance system, making it highly effective at intercepting aircraft and missiles at medium to low altitudes. Learn how the TY-90's adaptability allows it to be seamlessly integrated into mobile tactical air defense systems and self-propelled SAM vehicles, enhancing China's defense capabilities. Join us as we delve into the technology, development, and strategic significance of the Yitian Air Defense System.

Sold to Rwanda. Currently marketed by NORINCO as the Sky Dragon 6, filling in the lower range of the companies air defense offerings.

@@keithmoore5306 - Those systems are not in the same category, so very much apples and oranges. I was merely addressing your (false) claim _nobody is buying_ Clearly someone is. Sky Dragon 6 occupies a sector of the market that really has been on life support for the last few decades. I am hard pressed to think of major sales of any direct competitor during that timeframe. With recent events emphasis has certainly shifted to medium and longer range/altitude systems like IRIS-T, NASAMS, etc., and to counter-drone systems. Attack helicopters (the threat for which TY-90 was created) are not the problem they used to be and tactical aircraft don't much fly low-and-close within TY-90's envelope anymore. The TY-90 missile is now being offered in configurations and on platforms that are more suited to the current market.

@@MFitz12 apples to apples or not is not the issue here a single sale is nobody buying it to me! we have different standards for the meaning of selling, it takes at least 5 customers getting triple digits (combined) or a single customer taking 25 to 50 units (not counting the missiles to it) to be counted as it selling in my book!! and the fact remains that the only ones buying chinese weapons are the ones who have no other option because of being in hock to beijing where nobody else will give them credit and loans or being on the west's shit list like pakistan ended up after the seal team 6 raid found mutton head and smoked it there!

@@keithmoore5306 - It is the issue. Mistral (you spelled it wrong) are MANPADS. ASRAM (by which I think you mean the system known variously as CAMM, Sky Sabre or Land Ceptor) is an MRSAM . Sky Dragon 6 is a self-propelled and self-contained SHORAD system, a market category distinctly different from MANPADS (try lugging TY-90 over your shoulder) or MRSAM that has been rather stagnant the last few decades since the end of the Cold War. Sure, Sky Dragon 6 has not racked up big sales but then, neither has anything else in this category of air defense system. That tells us more about the market than the system. I suspect marketing efforts by NORINCO are now emphasizing the LD35 - also equipped with the TY90 missile - which more closely suits the modern threat environment than a system designed at the end of the Cold War to deal with a completely different threat. BTW - I am not interested in whatever completely arbitrary requirements you have extracted from your rectum solely in order to load your argument - standards by which all but a tiny fraction of air defense systems on the market would be considered failures.
