They are getting 450 euros more than they would working in their own country - that means they have a high paid job in comparison to others in their country - It happens in UK too my husband has been driving HGV's for most of his working life - by the time he gets home Friday late evening - sometimes he doesn't get home til Sat am - then he has one night at home and Sunday evening travels to his yard to pick up his truck and he's off again - truck drivers are treated like garbage all over - no one seems to realise that everything in their home and their cupboards would not be there without truck drivers - if the money men could get rid of drivers they would - my husband has Polish work colleagues who live in their trucks and work as many hours as they legally can - every month or so they go home for a visit - they do this for three or four years and by the time they leave they have bought a farm or their family home in Poland - everything has a price - and those at the coal face will always be the ones that pay that price - my husband has a mathematics and teaching degree and could teach Mathematics but his wages would be half that of what he earns driving an HGV. So we put up with it -

Us in the US have some of the same treatments as well. You definitely make a point there about getting home Saturday morning but having to get back to the equipment Sunday

I am confused... I know 2 ex-truckers from Slovakia and neither of them worked for less 1400€ a month and they were rarely gone from home for more than 14 days. They both quit due to health issues caused by decades behind the wheel. Drivers who do only short runs earn much less but these are of no concern to French truckers since they are not their competition.

@@topmatservice5840 Slovakia truck drivers earn in Slovakia 1100-2000eur. There are large truck taxes in Slovakia, many are paid to the state and therefore many transport companies are registered outside Slovakia - mostly in Germany, Austria, Belgium or Italy. If the company and the truck are registered in Western Europe, it is more convenient and less biocratic. The police, especially in Germany, are literally allergic to chambers from Slovakia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Croatia .... therefore it is best to open a company in the west and drive under DE, NL, FR, IT.

There is no Bulgarian drivers who work for 280 euro per month. Nor Romanian, who works for 330. Srdjan/Sergio is either lying intentionally or completely misinformed . Neither the ones that make international deliveries, nor the local ones. Try hiring one for that kind of money. They will simply walk away from an offer of 3 x 280 per month. Get your facts straight.

So? its too fuking low understand it ! One of my close friends from Romania works 2 months in EU for 900 euros gross, max 1000 he said to me. In Italy my uncle works as a truck driver and he gets from 2000 to 2500 depends onhow many weeks (AND NOT MONTHS) you stay outside the country.

To be honest this isn't the norm only for the trucking industry, maybe it's more prevalent there, but this is happening with most industries. They just go ahead and get people from Eastern Europe, bring them to the West and pay them less than they would the locals. We should have a labor market wide legislature addressing this effectively in the whole EU. The European Union is a great idea, but there's an awfully lot of bad execution surrounding it and sadly legislators are moving extremely slow to tackle the issues.

Well thats still bad, I work as a truck driver in Sweden and I only work 10 hours per day(home every night), monday to thursday and I'm free friday, saturday and sunday. I get paid around 3500-4000 Euro/month before taxes

@@tofsen12345 Your salary and taxes are constructed different way. You probably leave half of it to your government in taxes. The standard for eastern europe would be to pay minimum wage to the trucker plus an allowance of 50-60 EUR a day- as a "diet", which is not taxated. As a result, I used to receive a bank transfer of 2400 EUR after tax, for full 1 month on the road. At this time of my life it gave me a big kick forward and having minimal living costs i was quickly able to save thousands to start my own company. I understand the motivation of many of us to stay OTR this long.

@@piotrkozlowski8543 Yes, about 30% tax in sweden, that means I reccive 2500-3500 euro/month after taxes which is still extremly good considering the average pay for a normal job in Sweden only pays 2000-2500 euro/month before taxes.

About the salaries of these drivers. You got a salary and you got daily allowances. Generally in Western Europe allowances are low, but salary high. Eastern Europe has the opposite. The trick is that allowances are out of income taxes and other "social" taxes. So that's why are these drivers "cheaper". They are, but less than people think. And for the transport business, every euro is worth it because is a highly competitive business. Let drivers roams for months in Europe when they sleep, east, rest in their truck that's simply wrong and inhuman in my eyes.

it's 2024, and most people, i mean most truck drivers in EU (C+E) category earn 2500+ euro per month net, i mean it's the salary you start with as a new driver (a good friend of mine a high school colleague works in a company in Germany for 2700€ net) truck driving is severely underpaid, for what they are doing.

This companies can grow because there is no restriction to bring drivers from outside EU.They will always claim that is not enough drivers so they must bring from outside EU , but everyone knows it's because they can pay less and it is easier to cheat them .

he was not talking about international drivers. he was talking about average local salaries. If the salary of a bulgarian driver would be 1200-1500 eur nobody from Germany or Belgium would bother to haul them back and forth and hire them. There is already lack of truck drivers exactly because of this, all around Europe. They get minimum wage on paper, the rest in hand, they are forced to fake the tacho slips, lie about the mandatory breaks, no travel allowance, nothing. They make less than low grade factory workers if you consider how many hours they work.

Slovakia truck drivers earn from 1100e - for domestic transport e.g. food delivery (supply in the city) courier. In international transport, an average of 1600e is earned

Its one of the Brexit reasons , social dumping. It all started with Dutch company´s and their political representatives who implement later on the so called ´´Bolkenstein`` EU-regulation 2006/123/EG. This makes it legal to trade in people and abuse them , and to perceive qualifications as well. Most carriers and their clients are always loudly pretending to have their priorities on helthy , safety , environment , wearing yellow vests bla bla bla but we always see the opposite well assisted by the EU government. The EU is only their for the upper class and to keep the criminal social dumping system alive.

I’ve been driving a truck and I can’t say truck driving is a glamorous job. If that’s what you think of the industry you’re gonna have a wake up call from hell when you’re coming into the industry for the first time as a new kid. Wages are driven down the hole to start with. Then you’re or I was pushed to drive over the legal driving hours on a regular basis and working overtime ok I could deal with that. But the social dumpster was just a tool for the company to keep the trucks rolling. don’t like paying reasonable money for the job I’ve been doing and the responsibility I had. I drove 20 sometimes up to 23 continuously hours. For 3.64 per kilometre driven. Stopping for a rest or loading or tipping the truck meant no income. But if you’re mad enough to keep up with the conditions by all means go ahead. Enjoy your day as a truck driver. Enough with me rambling. Good video it’s just a Wild West out there.

What was said about the salaries is completely ridiculous - why did you publish sth like that without checking? In Poland, for instance, nobody from here would do the job for any less than 1500 EUR, so it probably is in the rest of the eastern countries like Romania/Slovakia/Bulgaria or others.

I just recently watched a documentary of non European drivers(mostly asian) they only received 620 euro/month. But they never complained due to either it's already big amount for them or they're afraid of losing their jobs. Can't deny that in Philippines its already big amount for us. Even a license professionals in my country only received 200-300 euro and we have a pretty high job requirements.😑 Who have a right mind to offer a "sales lady" job for a degree holder? And a business ad graduate to the boot...🤦 P.S. I'm also a license professional but my salary is 16,000 pesos or 200 euro/ month only.

Even if you are from Hungary and earn €1500 per month working for an Irish Firm driving to Spain and Portugal then back to Ireland , you can easily bring back Duty free Cigarettes and full tank of fuel ! There are many skilled jobs being given to Eastern EU people as they as skilled like those in Western Europe however, they will work for 2/3- 1/2 the salaries especially if they live in a two bedroomed Apartment with 5 friends ! This is called a “ competitive EU Market “ and the best value gets the jobs .

There is no future in international haulage for small Belgian transporters and their drivers. And it's not different in other countries. The future for us is in local specialization. A lot esaier to find drivers too.

For example in Lithuania we also have many foreign transport comapnies opening their branches here. Mostly Dutch, Belgian and German. They register trucks and hire workforce under Lithuanian law and salaries. 90%+ of their drivers aren’t even from Lithuania. Most of them come from Ukraine, Belarus and even India or Pakistan. Those drivers are being payed less than Lithuanian drivers doing the same jobs for the same companies. The company I work for pays 100€/day to Lithuanian drivers, ~85€/day to Ukrainians and Belorussians and 45€/day to Indians and Pakistanis. If you look at the majority of transport companies registered in Lithuania that do international haulage most of the drivers are from outside of the EU. To start solving the social dumping problem in transport sector all of the EU should have the same laws of employment for workforce from the outside of the EU and only then you could start solving social dumping. Right now majority of Lithuanian drivers work in German, Dutch, Norwegian, Swedish, Danish companies and have contracts under the laws of the countries they work in and are being payed the same salary as the local drivers. Reason for this is social dumping in Lithuania by workers from countries outside the EU.

My dad drives 90kmh everywhere city snow ice. Cus hes from eastern europe and if he dont drive fast enough he cant make it to ferry or destination and it results in many fines and cheating with tachograph also driving completly sleeples. Compleetly dangerous but he cant make money if he dosent do that

Maybe stuff changed but some in some situations this is kind of a lie im romanian and most truckers i know in spain that do international trucking they are Romanian Bulgarian Albanian Serbians mostly balkans baltics and russians they earn over 2000 euros per month i know some romanian drivers with salaries of 4000 euros per month.

This is dumb when this reportage was done most Romanian drivers used to make between 2.5k to 2.8k a month now everyone makes around 3000€ a month, yes we do get 400€ on the salary paper but we alao get 100€ a day as “diurna” “food money” because romanian gov would take 42% in taxes if this wouldn’t have happened and all the laws are still against the eastern drivers so don’t come at us with saying we re getting slaved when you are oppresing the eastern europeans companies access to the european market… so much for an unified europe smh… Also your whole economy is based on eastern europeans transport companies. If Lithuania Poland and Romania would stop driving. Europe would halt in less than a week

I`m Driver to , I`fe asked som Collegs from Serbia , I`f met on som raststation in Germany , How much thay earnd per month , tree of 10 sayed thay workd per delivery two of them tells me thay work per Km 3 of 10th sayed thy have fix wage under 1000€ only two of my Serbian Collegs have , partly , simmilar payed like in EU thay earnd 1500€ monthley ! For shure Serbia isn`t part of EU but i think that EU should react and giv all of them a better secur way of Worker Live ! I live and work in Austria and I`m proud about this . In Austria it is prohibited to Companis to pay wages per Km or otherwise but only on Hour basis wich is corect . I think that Bruxelles Politicians shoul copy Austrian Law about far houling Drivers that would be best for al of my European Collegs !

JUst make it so that Salary is based on the country driver is on. Example: Driving From Poland to France. Numbers are just made up because I dont know real times 3 days in Poland(cargo loading and trip to the border) 4 days crossing Germany 2 days to reach delivery point in France. Meaning that salary for driver would be calculated like this. 3x legal truck driver salary in Poland + 4x legal truck driver salary in Germany + 2x legal truck driver salary in France.

Western European drivers would want that, eastern European drivers do not - because, they think they loose access to the market in western Europe and to their drivers meaning loosing their job.

The personnel costs are far from being the highest portion of the transport costs. If a large trucking company would by miracle have all trucks autonomous starting tomorrow, their costs would be in the grand scheme of things marginally lower. Even if your total costs per driver are 2000 eur a month.. the truck's lease is what, 3k? it will make 10-15k kilometers, that is 4000-6000 eur just on fuel at least, road tolls could be in thousands as well depending on the country. maintenance and repair over they year. So let's stop saying the driver salaries are the key factor that sets the transporting prices. Yes, salaries are the easiest factor to undercut your competitors by hiring cheap labor, but every one and thei rmother, who as much as overheard two logistics dispatchers in a bar would know, the fucked up instant delivery world we live in, where we need every knickknack off amazon next day at home causes the need to have way too many trucks on the road, that drive overloaded by 5 tonnes one way, and completely empty way back. They could have picked a full payload the next day, but nobody will wait for that. Million sorting centers, hubs, every parcel changes hands a dozen times just so you can have your iphone next business day. There is big shortage of drivers in Europe, laws are being mended so already 18 year olds can sit behind the wheel of 40 tonne trucks, because there is simply not enough drivers. more than 40% of all car accidents that were caused by driver's fault were caused by drivers under age of 23. So we are now putting young, inexperienced drivers who last week couldn't parallel park mom's Corsa into the cabin of a truck. Awesome.
