It is the bomb! Its not the most breathable soft shell but it is the most robust. My one is used and abuse and still looks new. I try to avoid putting keys in the pockets but that goes without saying. You can feel the quality as soon as you pick it up. A brilliant bit of kit.

Just got mine from Trekkitt, anyone trying to find the correct size when purchasing online, I’m 5ft9 slim/medium build, ordered a small size and it fits perfectly, trying to find size guides from montane is quite difficult, according to their sizing I should have got a medium, luckily I didn’t otherwise it would have been too big.

I'm similar size to you. I'm usually a medium in everything. Ordered a medium and the fit does seem big. Especially in the arm length. Think I'll take it back and try a small.

@@Shralps get a small mate, fits so nicely, enough room to fit a Marino base layer and a Rab ascender hoodie underneath, plus the articulating sleeves feel perfect for me with a small.

Yes I’m also 5’9” and quite slim and the medium was too big. Returned for a small which fits well. Very impressed with the jacket

Think this would be a good mid layer. I'm looking for a gore Tex Montane jacket plus a mid layer to go with it. I have loads of Berghaus fleeces but looking for a different type of mid layer like primeloft maybe. Im just getting into trails, so looking to improve my equipment, I have the Berghaus goretex mateland but have my eyes 👀 on Montane goretex pro , I like the fitted look on them. I just came back from the peak District and hoping soon to go again or even mount Snowdon , hopefully... I was thinking to get the Montane prism jacket with the Montane saltoro goretex pro and wear my Marino wool baselayer to Snowdon. Gotta wait though as I just got my boots, the good stuff is always pricey lol.

i ended up buying from PARAMO. i wanted a hardshell that didn't use gor-tex. for insulation give Climashield a look, slight bulkier than primaloft, but warmer? synthetic insulated long sleeve T + hoody + Climasheild jacket + Paramo jacket + Sealskin waterproof beanie i'm set for any weather

You're better off with Montane's Fireball. It's much more suitable as a midlayer and offers higher levels of breathability. Also, do you mean the Mountain Equipment Saltoro? As Montane don't currently produce a product with that name! Harry

I have a Mountain Equipment Frontier jacket. It's to be recommended. They make them match the colors of the Ibex trousers, so if you want a matching top and bottom they are a perfect match. recommend both. The Mission jacket has slightly more insulation but is essentially the same jacket.

Hi, would you please advise what the difference between Dyno XT and Dyno LT? The LT looks like is more thicker but generaly both jackest have nearly the same design. Which one you would recomend?

The XT is warmer and has a brushed lining. LT for spring/autumn use, XT for winter.

Hi! Can you recommend best choice with high breathability as outer level in zero+ temperatures and windy conditions with high physical activity? Trying to choose between Montane Dyno LT Jacket, Montane Fireball Lite Hoodie or something else. Or better to use fleece + windbreaker?

Dyno would be ideal-can then adapt your layers underneath depending on how warm you are.

sorry, but the market has been flooded with softshell/hardshell jackets by the main brands with slight differences. making purchasing over complicated

The differences are quite large in reality. A waterproof should only really be used when it's raining, whereas a softshell can be used all the time. I've just come back from a week in the Lake District and used a softshell the entire time. It's breathable enough that you can easily wear it on the climbs without overheating straight away, it's soft and quiet enough that it can be worn on low-level trails without sounding like a crisp packet and it's water/wind resistant enough that it works when it's just raining lightly. Try one if you can! Harry
