Same excitement here, i like how this defense is built a very good balance of height & talent & mobility, mixing in young talent with very solid & experienced guys like Oleksiak & Parayko. I think we'll see Kaiden on second or top pair with Power or Byram on the biggest matchs. The forward group is mostly built around talents that are as exceptionally good as they are young and that usually mean extra work for the defense which is ideal for him to show what he's made of. We couldn't have dreamt a better scenario for Kaiden to gain xp & shine. I wish him to have a blast !

@lauig Not bad comparisons at all. Although in his rookie year he was pacing for like almost 35 points. If Guhle was playing as our #2 over Savard I think he would have a better season offensively. He will challenge Reinbacher for that #2 spot and Mailloux. My hot take though. I think Guhle playing #1 RD or LD PP2 next season for 82 games will hit 40 points. He reminds me a little bit of Weegar to be honest

I'm 100% certain that rumor is valid regarding sennecke. grant mccagg was on the sick podcast the other day and he was singing the praises of sennecke maybe going top 5. talking about his size, skill and 22 pts in 12 playoff games. from the past 2 drafts, grant was bullish on both slafkovsky and reinbacher heading into their drafts. he's definitely got sources in the habs organization and I feel he wants to hype up players before habs eventually take them.
@lauig
@lauig 28 дней назад
Plus he's grown so big from last summer to the end of this season, takes time to adapt. He inherently got those few games stretch without a point but he then got more & more used to his 6"03 frame, muscled up a little and come Playoffs time he's only got 2 games out of 15 without a point, most nights he's got a goal & an assist. Leads his team in scoring in those playoffs, 10 goals in 15 games, second best in the league.

Saw a draft profile that said Senneke had a big growth spurt. It also mentioned he doesn't seem to play a complete game every night. If both are true his performance in the playoffs would be an indication he is getting comfortable with his new size and that he really ups his game when it is the most important. Makes me believe he is a good choice for us.

I think Tij is developing just like his dad. People forget Jerome had a slow start in Jr then a meteoric raise. I could see Tij be playing his rookie year in the NHL during the 2025-26 season after having a 100pt season back in Jr next season, then coming to NHL for the playoffs and having a full rookie season. Tij had 18pt in 48 games last year then scored 84pts in 64 games this year. Jerome had 29pts (6 goals just like TIJ) in 48 games then 71pts in 72 games. His rookie NHL he had 50+ points. Tij is only 1 inch shorter and 20lbs lighter than dad in his prime. I would love to see Tij fill out his frame in a Habs jersey!

fans need to not put too much hope/hype with that late first, that's setting yourself up for disapointment. It will be a miracle on it's own if that pick even plays in the NHL, nevermind being a good one on top of it. There is no way Sennecke is still available at 25. There is nothing but plugs left in the 25 range minus very very rare exceptions (go look at the last 10 drafts...) Can it happen? yes, of course, but the chances of getting a great player there are very slim. 3rd and 4th liners don't count, they are inconsequential and easily replaceable and nothing to be excited about. They need to package that pick to move up the draft or to acquire a player.

@@bedbath9056 Habs have the 4th heaviest team. You f'n size rodents are everywhere but just don't look up the facts. Colorado is one of the smallest teams in the league. Doesn't actually matter if your players don't use there size. Better having a small physical player then a fat ass that doesn't hit. And Slafkovsky is f'n 20 years old. If you'd do your f'n homework you'd notice that most players in the top 50 in scoring are 24 to 36 years old. There's only 2 players under 24 in the top 50, Jack Hughes and Lukas Raymond so get your f'n facts together. Players usually reach there primes between 24-26 years of age, Slafkovsky just had a pretty dominant season from December onwards potting 50 points in the process and finished with 19 points in is last 20 games. He's very close to being elite and is barely 20 years old. He'll be top 50 scorer in the league before he's 24. Again, get your f'n facts together before posting shit!

I don't think there's a need to trade anyone of significance to make room for Engström. Keeper is UFA and basically free to go, we've got 3 RFAs, and only one (Xhekaj) will get extended and is destined for NHL anyway. Norlinder and Barron will either be traded or let go in some way. I'm half sad for Barron, he's got some serious offensive skill, but it never truly fully clicked for him in the NHL and he did not outshine the kids like Xhekaj did when he got sent down (although he didn't do bad at all). He can still bring an interesting return I guess

The Winnipeg pick is at 29 right now and might move up a couple of spots if the Stanley Cup finalists had less points in the regular season than Winnipeg. Sennecke is now going possibly 15th at the lowest. Montreal needs larger forwards as that is what you especially need in the playoffs.

Very disappointed that Suzuki and Montembault turned down Team Canada. I'm sure they have their reasons, but I'd have much rather seen *them* go and play in the Worlds than Guhle. Kaiden needs to give himself time to recover from his numerous various injuries before he plays any more hockey for anyone other than the Habs. One more injury and his entire career starts to really look murky. And Suzuki would have had an opportunity to *seriously* raise his game to another level, and show that he has what it takes to be 'the guy'. Oh well. Go Cole!! Go Slaf!! And stay healthy Kaiden!!

I can honestly see Savard and Matheson traded over the summer. I don't see either being impactful when the Habs are contending and I don't see either gaining any value for where they are now. If the Habs need a veteran to help coach the young guys there isn't anything stopping them from getting an experienced guy as the number 7 and let the prospects fight it out for the spots.

Matheson needs to go.

No one of the two gets traded this summer. Indeed, Matheson is not going anywhere because he has pretty strong ties with Hughes but Savard is likely getting traded at the trade deadline because this his last year of his contract...!!!

I hate the Habs always take the late risers and then wonder why they often end up not being that good. STOP REACHING HABS. PICK THE MAN that is ranked there.

Berkley Catton is a very very special player and Habs would be foolish not to select him.
@powers1500
@powers1500 28 дней назад
As for Benson who also was a special player last year, Catton will likely be a 11th to 15th pick this year. Way too many good defensemen and bigger forwards available for Catton to be a top 10 pick. It seems that right after the playoffs, the GMs still remember well at the draft that indeed size still matters especially...in the playoffs !!!

@@powers1500 But you need players to take you to the playoffs first, Catton is that kind of player that will take you there.

I like Engstrom but im worried on his offensive game. I think he will be a bottom 4 defensive D once we become contenders. But not a star to me. A comparison for me could be like Ian Cole.

He's a 3rd rounder. If you get Ian Cole out of that, you're laughing.

Thanks, buddy! I’ve tried leaving this reply three times. You’re going to get this same post in all your posts. Hopefully, you get this somewhere. lol! 😂 I've been having the same problems. Other than dealing with new meds. That's been the main reason I've pretty much stopped posting. I deal with panic attacks and severe depression. When I go back and find my replies gone. It's hard on me. I've got a last post typed out for tonight. I'm not going to post anymore. Unless it's very important. I've left you replies and you've left me replies. But, they’re just disappearing. It's too much for me right now. Also, a lot of the people here now are a little rudder. One guy wouldn't stop insulting me, so I posted my address and told him to come to Niagara Falls to say hi to me. He never responded back. He stopped after that. Lol! Thanks for saying hi. I hope everything in your life is going well. I might join the draft livestream on Tuesday. Are you going to be there, buddy? Have a great night! Slafzilla!!! 😵💫😊👊🏻

They're not gonna trade up, there gonna trade picks AWAY. They have to many picks the next 2 seasons and it's pretty clear they like adding 22-23 year old established forwards in exchange for picks. They're not going to trade up, this rebuild is almost over, they dont need 20 extra prospects in the next 2 seasons, they have to trade picks away and then focus on who goes and who stays on defense and they'll be able to get picks back by shipping young D out. It's already been 3 years with the same management and no one as figured out how they work? Hughes is gonna go hard after the likes of Dawson Mercer and players of that variety, not interested in drafting 7 players in the first 2 rounds of the next 2 drafts. You keep your highest first round pick in 2024 and your highest in 2025, you ship out some 2nd round picks, we have 3 second round picks the next 2 drafts and you get some young established forwards to play NOW. They have a tone of young defenseman who'll be traded for picks by summer 2025, Harris, Barron and Kovacevic will all be traded this summer or next, then you have Struble and Trudeau that will need waivers in 2025, you'll be able to get some picks back in 2025-2026. That's how you build a team without hurting the farm. Picks for players, then players for picks. Rince, contend, repeat!
