Thank you for that search term! I was searching using every term I could think of to get ideas but didn't try that one. I think I've got an idea on a boot shape that's similar to #2, I'll try doing a mock-up and see what we think. A 90° elbow would work, and I have nothing against the cost, but I'm trying to avoid using any kind of reducers or bending boots as they are more prone to blowing off under pressure. Overkill for a small towing twins setup I know, but hey, why not! Thankya Sir!
I don’t think you’ll be happy with the end result if you do it the first or second way. Have you thought about clocking the compressor housing in a different position to give you more clearance to work with.
I'm thinking you're right. After some more mock-up, I'm not sure I'd like either options. I'm very open to clocking the compressor housing for better clearance as I haven't really decided how that's going to sit anyway, but I'm not sure if that would help as the issue is between the compressor intake and the OBA compressor that would sit on top the alt. So as much as I hate it, I'm likely stuck with some form a super tight bend. One option would be to make the bend resemble a 'cobra head elbow'. Kinda have it widen up a bit and then neck back down to 4". I'm not sure exactly how that would look, but I can try doing some mock-up and snap a picture to get your thoughts on it.
CumminsWorks could you do another video showing the set up from different angles and an approximate size of the area your working with. Cheap builds that look professional are my forte 😂
You betcha! My internet is kinda garbage, so It's gotta upload overnight. @Optimal Welding mentioned a 'Carburetor Hat', so I did some google image searching with that term and I think I came up with another design we might like better. I'll keep yall updated!
Here's the new video. See whatcha think! I made it unlisted so youtube doesn't go around notifying everyone again. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--S-FEgFEi60.html Thanks Man!
CumminsWorks oil pan was easy with transmission out. I was loosing roughly 1 gallon every 600 miles out the rear main. Considering I drive 450-800 miles a week that's a lot of money. Only cost about $500 to fix. The rear main was destroyed there was no seal portion left. I initially mis-diagnosed it as the push rod cover. I would let her leak but that's a lot of money and I hate leaving oil stains everywhere. I let the powerstroke guys do that.
Oh Wow, Yeah, A leak like that I'd probably mess with too. Frankly, having do any topping off between oil changes would piss me off, so I'd probably get my hiney in gear to mess with it too. That's good to know on the pan, I've had my snoot full of pulling transmissions, I don't look forward to it, but at least I'm pretty good at it by now.
