Insidious: The Red Door - Angry Movie Review 

The red guy was so scary because we barely saw him. That's why the first one fell off in the end. The image of him standing in the corner of the room with his crackling fingers is still so haunting to me years later, but seeing him just straight on like in the thumbnail is comical

I wanted to enjoy this movie I really did but the problem I found was that they completely missed the mark with the evil red guy. In the first movie he was just an absolute brute, he was truly terrifying. I thought they would add more of him in this movie especially since he was the poster child of " it ends where it all began". He was seen in a few scenes but other than that he was pretty much absent 90% of the time. I also thought it would have been amazing if Josh's father was the actual red guy. I thought it was going to be his father considering they had very similar hair styles as well as he left the note that said "it ends with me". But of course, the movie ended with everyone finally being one happy family again, everything was for the greater good. Truly a lack luster experience.

I can see why Alex was confusing movies since both Insidious and Conjuring have very similar premise to them. Shortly after starring as the Night Owl in Snyder's Watchmen, Patrick Wilson struck up a friendship with James Wan and has been the leading actor in almost all of his movies since. At this point its sort of hard to believe Wan not being involved in a movie that starts Wilson in the lead role. It's even harder to believe that James Wan was made the Aquaman movies where Wilson also played the evil brother. Both of them have pretty interesting trajectory when it comes to their films.

the hypnotized part was not introduced in this film. It's how the last one ended with these characters. In this film it was just reminding the audience.

I quite like this series. It did become very campy and cheesy but I sorta enjoy that aspect. So I’ll probably enjoy to some extent regardless.

I give this movie a 5/10. Because it felt like as soon as the horror started it was over quick. You had to actually watch all the subtle stuff in the background but it didn't play a major part in the movie. Also when dude saw the old man who hypnotize them I thought they was going to come back to that but that was the only time you saw him. It felt like they was just trying to hurry up and end the movie

People won’t understand, how much the first Insidious changed the horror genre forever… before it was movies like “The Wrong Turn” franchise with the classic cliché. Find you a pretty girl, and market around that.

I'm a simple man - I see Patrick Wilson in a movie, I go watch that movie asap.

As friday the 13th has shown us, if something is advertised as “the final chapter”, it will absolutely not be the the last chapter

I have recently watched the first two together, I think they are absolutely a good package. I didn’t bother moving on to the other, because I know they aren’t liked and are very dumb. The first two just had a consistent story and twist that they work. I didn’t necessarily find them scary. I do respect the kind of silent horror they do. With ghost hiding behind curtains or figures that just randomly appear in the background. What really made it good was the characters. The characters have a good amount of charisma together. If it wasn’t for them, it would be boring and not that good of a franchise. Maybe this one I will check out once it drops to a streaming service

Few picks with this review: Moral of the story IS CONFRONT the past and trauma, not suppress it, Thats why the hypnosis doesnt work and they dont burn the painting because YOU NEED to remember your past and your trauma. You cant run from it. Also the ghost DONT say open the door. They repeatedly say CLOSE the door

I was a fan of the first 2 movies, especially the first one. I will never forget the first time watching that movie in theaters cause horror movies at the time were becoming stale and weren’t trying anything new until that came out

Horror movies for me have completely become so dull due to how unrealistic or less scary they are and this is coming from a guy who used to watch them at 11pm every time at night alone

I attended a special screenings hosted by Patrick Wilson at his company's theater in Mew Jersey. Sinclair Daniel (the roommate character) and Peter Dager (Nick the Dick) did a Q&A after the film. Several crew members were there too, including The Lipstick Monster actor and the daughter character actress. I got to ask a question during the Q&A. 😁

Yeah it sucks that this movie didn't end up so good. I thought Insidious was one of the better horror series to come out in the past decade. Like Insidious 1 I thought the intro sequence violin sound was super creepy makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. Had tons of tasteful jump scares and the "spirits"/"ghosts" were so unique you really just didn't know what to suspect which I think made the jump scares better. Like the tiny tim music + little dancing boy but then there's the darth maul demon and stuff. Idk but yeah this new movie I feel like nothing paid off. The way they "won" wasn't really satisfying. And it overall kind of felt like the stakes weren't that high compared to that previous films

I thought for the directorial debut for Patrick Wilson and connecting to the Original story it was very good. Way better than i expected honestly with really good acting from everyone. Will definitely have this in my collection when it comes on blu ray.

The reason red guy was so front and center is because the last 3 films have false teased us with his return each and every time. Was false marketing over and over and I guess they finally wanted to deliver on it once and for all. I've seen all 5 films and I basically agreed with everything you guys had to say except for that part

Insidious: The Red Door contains much less scares then the previous installments and they maybe could’ve done a few more things, but I’m satisfied with how this series concluded.

Without joe dressing up like a ' red door 🚪 ' I feel that I'm missing the much needed visual stimulus to keep my interest and involvement in this drafty video review ❤😂

The start of this movie was so slow and boring I couldn't believe it. When dude was single letter typing to his son I heard audible groans in the theater. The middle was OK but the scares were just cheap loud audio stings and too infrequent. The ending was confusing and just bad. 4/10

i was really hoping for a backstory type of thing for the red demon he appeared in everysingle movie all of them so that meant he was clearly important to the story but in this movie he just felt like a pushover i thought they were going to show how powerful he was his full potential but they didnt he appeared like 4 times throughtout the entire movie i was only invested in this series because of him and this was supposed to be the conclusion? this didnt feel like it concluded anything... and i think the fact that all it took to close that door was paint? really it was that easy the entire time? this movie really disappointed me i really wanted a backstory to the demon and seeing his full potential but oh well i liked this movie for the scare didnt like it for the story

One thing I don’t get is that the wife divorced him as a result of Josh being hypnotized and lost. Why wasn’t she hypnotized?

The last horror movie that really freaked me out was that sinister movie, Insidious movies didn’t really do it for me

The movie did what it was meant to do. I liked it. Also those"did you see that" parts that Alex mentioned. Those are apart of the movie, every insidious had them

I usually watch these reviews for entertainment. I love how their whole thing is judging a movie outside it's pedigree. I had to look up the word insidious before I showed the movie to my sister. I couldn't just show her something that was likely to give her nightmares without any definitive context. That first movie was like the first Paranormal minus the reality of the situation which was conveyed through the way the film was shot. They could only take it so far... The first movie was the finish line

I gotta disagree Joes! It sticks to the premise of the previous movies. Its like watching Spiderman NWH without knowing of the other Spiderman movies. The other movies play into this and not knowing of them takes away from this one.

I love this movie and all Patrick is in . Definitely worth it

The first movie is one of the best modern horror movies, though nowhere near A24’s stuff. The music alone, which I never really hear getting talked about, is some of the best in horror history, along with the intro credits. The 2nd movie I like even more, so I’ll be seeing this, despite not being all that interested, just to wrap up the franchise.

I just got watching this and I'm actually at either a 7 or 8 out of 10. Within the last month I've watched all the other movies in chronological order and I think it works better than watching them in the order they were released. I fully understand why people wont like this cause there is no satisfying conclusion, but the son figured out a way to not let his father sacrifice himself in the further. Its simply survive to fight another day.

I really enjoyed parts 3 and 4, though I can't really put my finger on why... But the real takeaway is 26 MILLION to make 5 movies that are shot, edited, scripted, and the effects all are pretty decent?! Maybe Hollywood needs to stop making movies that bomb for $500mil and hoping they make a billion and go back to focusing on smaller budgets that pay out. I don't know, I'm no financial genius, but it seems fairly obvious...

3/10 if you waste your money on this movie expect to be disappointed.

People with trauma *are* cursed. People like me. We went through shit we didn't need to get through, and it stuck with us. It frightened us, it altered how we act, think, how we react. The horrific levels of neglect and abuse in my life have made it exceptionally hard to want to make friends, because people are selfish, harmful, will lie to you for attention, etc. But now I'm incredibly lonely. I don't want to do "go to the bar" hangouts, but I do want someone there who can listen, who can help, who can be there for me - as I'd be there for them. Trauma is a bit like a curse because it's just as hard to get rid of. You build this huge defensive wall to prevent the same pains again, but the key is to tear down that wall - not always, but usually - to feel either more capable, or just *capable altogether*. The neglect and abuse for me, have left me with massive self-esteem issues. I'm working on it, but still. I may have impostor syndrome, I feel like anything I do is just a thing I do, that most people could do, nothing special, etc. If I do a good job, I so rarely can see it, and when I'm praised on doing a good job, I *literally* do not trust it. I just think the person is being nice or wants to cheer me up, rather than actual merit being behind it. And so much more.

There's room for simple stories that use trauma and mental issues as part of the story/plot. Two of my favourite horrors are Hereditary and The Taking of Deborah Logan, which both rely heavily on these concepts. The problem is you only get go down that route fully if you're fully in control and dedicate to its inclusion, if not it will become a background afterthought and become unconvincingly arbitrary. Insulting in its simplicity and lazy inclusion and reliance as a plot device. You can use these elements either by proxy or directly, but you have to make sure you give the time and attention to properly tie it in otherwise you're just using this highly sensitive subject as a McGuffin. The time and explanation has to be directly proportional to the level of relevance mental health has to the plot and characters. There's a direct point made in Hereditary about the dad and family doubting their moms sanity, that's why it was so good, it did what every horror trope does but better both fulfilling the trop but also subverting it in its own way. That requires a vision, something only an individual can have. As opposed to a board of writers or even a board of people that green light what individuals write. There may have been a real story in here but for reasons (usually social ones) it got lost in translation. Who knows... Unfortunate.

The first two were great, 3 was okay and the last key was disappointing hope this one is decent

He sings in the new ghost song. He also sings in the phantom of opera.

The movie was weak and predictable. How about The Sound of Freedom review guys. I saw that and was traumatized. Support this movie. It's a very important issue that must be addressed. Looking forward to it.

Good movie but i wish they had a better way to end the film it felt messy on how they try to deal with the problem. 6 out of 10 almost as good as part 1 which was amazing in setting up dread

The Insidious Franchise is way better then the conjuring

I felt this was the worse in the series. I also felt the funeral wasn’t needed, Carl’s cameo was pointless as well as the ending felt rushed and lazy

Definitely a nice ending, well, ending, that is until they come with six and we all know they will. I enjoyed it. Not scary at all, but then horror movies just don't scare me anymore, it comes with age, unfortunately.
