Such a hard discography to rank. My ranking on Metalstorm is constantly changing. First and last place are the only one's that don't change. I've watched a few RU-vidrs ranking Insomnium and every one of them are so different.
I don't know if I'm just crazy here, but Winter's Gate never drew me in... I probably need to give it another chance. Their new single "The Conjurer" is brilliant!
Thank you for this. I always felt that other RU-vidrs just didn't go in enough depth on the albums and didn't sort of, describe how each song on the album synchronised with the other and how each album had its own unique atmosphere.
I’ve been listening to Winter’s Gate all week having never really listened to it “properly”. Was just about to move on and now your enthusiasm has led to me putting on again on repeat whilst I work.
My top 5 (best to worst): 1. Across the Dark 2. One for Sorrow 3. Above the Weeping World/Winter's Gate 5. Heart like a Grave Didn't like: Shadows of a Dying Sun Don't remember: In the Halls of Awaiting/Since the Day it all came down One of my favourite Insomnium songs is "Weather the Storm" which was a bonus track for One for Sorrow, I'm surprised you didn't mention it. If you haven't listened to that song, I would highly recommend doing so!
I totally forgot about that song. Will have to listen again! I recommend listening to Since the Day it All Came Down. If you can tolerate the primitive production value, theres some incredible moments on there!
@@thegothicviking1388 The production on those two albums is definitely what stopped me getting into them, with Above the Weeping World being borderline too, but it's been ten years since I tried, so maybe its time to try again!
