FYI, you could kill shadows instantly in vanilla Persona 5 when you unlock rank 7 with Ryuji. However, it wasn't as easy because you NEED to ambush in order to trigger it. If you get noticed, this doesn't work. In Royal, as you see in the video, I just run up to them. Even if you get noticed and the alarm goes up, you still will trigger the insta-kill as long as you're running. It even does it automatically, you don't even need to press to trigger it, it'll just happen as you run up to it. So, this insta-kill buff makes it A LOT better than in vanilla. This is actually the best EXP farming method in momentos. Morgona says something like there's 'strong enemies on this floor' and all the shadows have a red aura on that floor. I grinded after the spaceship palace against girimatama up until I could run it over. Within half an hour I went from 45 to 81
It started helping a lot more towards the last few palaces because I just naturally wound up being so much higher leveled from doing everything in Mementos that I could. Being able to dab on basically everything in Shido's palace was hilarious.
Since you're doing this in Royal, and if you're having troubles with light and dark insta-kills, you could get the free legacy DLC and you can equip the St. Hermelin Badge Accessory which nulls both bless and curse.
It’s very useful for the reaper btw. You won’t need Tetjara and can’t be made weak to it. I use sees band for money farming in mementos and team glasses when I’m insta kill farming. But I suggest the badge if you fight the reaper
I discovered Ryuji's buffed instakill when I ran over a Pixie in Mementos. To add, at least in Mementos, instakillable enemies will actively run from you so they're completely ignorble. Edit: In Mementos Instakill is absolutely worth it from what I've found.
I did almost the exact same thing before I found this vid lol, got everyone to lvl 99 before Makoto even got her name “Queen” lmao. Differences: I used hermelin badge as an accessory, spammed beads and stuff when I was level 20 while my ng+ Izanagi no Okami was 99. Concentrate, Debilitate, Myriad Truths. To get so back I switched to messiah to guard and wait to regain things from invigorate 3. Worked pretty well, though stressful a few times.
... I didn’t know it still worked in palaces. Like I knew it worked in Mementos, used it a lot. What the heck is that animation, it’s so cool. I had the ability so long and never even got that insta kill. How?! Okay so almost beat my second playthrough (going for the og ending to complete the Thieves Den) and now it’s way easier to get this. I’m kinda overleveled now so even in the depths I can insta kill most guards. It’s still a bit weird to just run at the shadows but you’ll get used to it. Thanks for the video.
I made my "ultimate" izanami with all 99 max stats, almighty amp, almighty boost, magic ability, concentrate, and spell master. It is so dumb for damage
Nice vid. I planned on doing this myself so I could get blast through the days and reach the new stuff faster. Im sure doing this only once wont be enough though to run through every enemy since you will eventually encounter enemies above your level. Im probably gonna farm Reaper till about lv75 then run through the game. Speedrun wise this would probably be under a category that uses DLC and /or NG+ since beating the Reaper early on in a fresh save is nearly impossible. Should a method be found Im almost certain it would be the preferred route. It just feels like it would be faster. Can't wait for Tuesday!
It's gonna be great if we can somehow do it base game. For sure, reaching gallows has to be mandatory for it to work. Anubis is a possible good candidate since it nulls Light and Dark. It also has a good Magic and Endurance stat so can spend less on gallows. However, then it'll add more time in a speed run which wouldn't be good. Using DLC would be under Any%, at least I think it would be.
You can also equip the St. Hemelin's Badges which you get from the Persona 2 costume bundle, it gives Null Bless and Null Curse, negating the insta-kill attacks.
On my NG+ run I killed Caroline and Justine after 2nd palace and hit like lvl 40, then killed reaper right after because Makoto and Haru died and got no XP so I’m lvl like 50 in Kaneshiros palace and was able to insta kill everything until Shidos palace where a few enemies were blue. As someone only playing through NG+ for lavenza boss and to max everyone for the challenge battles that was sooooo nice Also I’m like 90% sure Ryuji doesn’t unlock his rank 6 until after Madarames palace so I think kaneshiros is the fastest you can get it
Actually, I’m right in the middle of Madarame’s palace and I just got Ryuji’s rank 7. His rank 7 is only accessible at night on certain days, because you need to scout out the teacher when he’s at the bar which is only gonna be at night.
Right before Shido’s palace I entered mementos, at level 58 while having the mementos xp at 200% after collecting enough stamps for Jose, spent 8 hours just looking around and killing shadows, and got to level 99 mostly just insta killing. It is incredibly over powered. So here’s the formula which you’ve probably surmised: Ryuji insta kill perk + Xp gains set to 200% in mementos levels you up very quickly. Also nets you a lot of money, I ended up with about 4 million yen by the end as you can buff how much money you get with Jose as well. But it is tedious, you have to thoroughly and actively be looking for stamps each path of mementos. On top of that, again, I spent 8 HOURS in mementos. On the upside I was able to kill the reaper during the new semester because of this.
If you can max the twins and havent done that many mementos quests yet, you can do mementos confusion money trick and fuse extremely powerful personas.

I 100% p5r first run because of my previous experience with p5 it was easier than base game but i still enjoy it gotta say though 2 tapped reaper new game +1
I remember when I first played royal I had to replay the entire game over after I beat it because I didnt know you had to finish marukis confidant in order to get the third semester. I was on normal mode and during the second playthrough with all the best weapons/armor, I soon became the most overpowered being in existence with the exp I was racking up. At the end of the game, I could insta kill every enemy in the last part of mementos. I know that this game is quite easy compared to the original, but man did it feel good to have the power greater than a god. I couldn't beat the twins/lavenza sill tho.
So long as you're going against one enemy at a time just equip the Ring of Gluttony. It repels the first enemy attack you receive so if the reaper only attacks once youll just repel every attack. Only thing it doesn't reflect is almighty damage... Honestly the gear is super, super busted
showtimes make the reaper a joke all you need is after unlocking the first showtime fight the reaper with that character and joker have that character gaurd until they get a showtime having joker buff debuff and heal then doing it again and again you will likely kill the reaper in 4-5 showtimes which with how early you’re fighting him will be faster than fighting it normally
I do think the homunculi is useless because with the dlc comes an item that nulls bless and curse attacks which not only trivializes akechis boss battle but removes the threat from the reaper without even needing to waste a turn to apply it.
The only real setup, aside from the obvious getting Ryuji to rank 7, is just grinding. I think you need to be 10 level higher than the shadow you're killing, but I don't know if that's player level, Persona level, or overall party level.
If you have everything checked off (Ryuji rank 7 and being 10 levels higher than the mob), then make sure you're not pressing X to actively start the battle. You just have to sprint and collide with the enemy to trigger it.
You won’t need to because if you are somewhat like me and never played any other persons game and got scared day 2 in volley ball dude palace and put it on safe mode and can’t take it off
I got him to rank 7 just after kamoshida palace. But you dont see the benefit till later (probably after 2nd palace) as you are still to low of level for it to trigger.

I know this is a somewhat older video now, but I wanted to drop a note that equipping the St. Hermelin accessory from the free DLC batch gives you Null Bless and Null Curse. That way, you don't need any homonculi to be save from the reaper's instant kill moves. However, you can't equip another accessory obviously.
I always thought it was kinda dumb that the insta-kill was mementos only and only gave you personas, shame it took them until Royal to fix that also why does the reaper get two turns if you ambush it? that seems a bit unfair if you ask me
@@classiest in the original it was mementos only, when ambushing enemies in palaces you fight them as normal, and don't forget that the only rewards you got from the insta-kill ambush was Personas
right after the 2nd palace when i was still level 16 kill the reaper so many times i got to level 99 before kanashiros palace if you want to know how go to reddit and go the to "how to farm reaper persona five royal" i will tell you how
Jack Miller I don't know about Messiah since it's weak to Curse so you'll have to get a skill card that takes care of that, but that's too early in the game to get a skill card, but probably once you unlock fusion alarms after the third palace you might have a chance at an itemization accident giving you one. That's very RNG though so the next best thing is to equip the second palace will seed accessory to cover that weakness.

You need to beat the game and see the original true ending or Royals true ending. On your NG+ Satanael will be available for fusion as soon as your able to group guillotine.
No, but they did add ambushing using your grappling hook. This can be done even when running and won't trigger the insta-kill. Also, treasure demons still don't get insta-killed so can only be attacked normally.
Ambushing the enemies will activate a battle in palaces, dashing into a shadow (that you're a high enough level to Insta-Kill) it will Insta-Kill not ambushing. You can do the same in Mementos

You just need rank 7, be 10 levels higher than the shadow and then sprint towards it without ambushing it, that should do it. If you use third eye and the shadow is green (meaning insta-kill is enabled and the shadow is 10 levels lower than you) you can insta-kill it. Any questions?
Amanda Chetwynd Ryuji Confidant ability at rank 7 and being 10 levels above the enemy will trigger the insta-kill if you hold R2 and run into an enemy.
When you use Third Eye, does the enemy have a green outline? Are you dashing into the enemies, without pressing any other buttons? Is Ryuji at Confidant Rank 7? Those should be the only requirements.
