Hey! Really informative, although I had a question. So I'm a DJ and for capturing footage fro the events, I recently bought Insta360 X3. In order to ensure that the sound is good, I've been thunking to buy a mic for it but I unfortunately am sure how this set would work. I've been thinking to get Wireless ME because of their ''gain assist technology'' because of the loud music. So if I was to buy Wireless ME, then how would be the setup? Since I'm standing away from the guests behind my DJ booth. Would my insta360 with Wireless ME be able to capture clear sound from dancefloor and the guests in the venue even though both transmitter and receiver is near me? Sorry for all these questions, I'm new to it. How would this work in my case?

Danny! Hey man, thanks for the review on the wireless mic. I am curious is there a wireless mic that also provides noise cancellation? Reason being, my paramotor puts out a lot of noise and wind noise comes into play when filming flights. Any ideas or microphones you recommend?

oh yea they are 2 different kinds for sure.. i love the pocket 3 and highly recommend it for a lot of content... however the 360 aspect looks amazing and has eye catching footage

Yes, I use mine with a DJI mic all the time. If you mount the receiver vertically with a short audio cable it stays out of the stitch line perfectly. If I shoot 5.7K 360° and frame 16x9 or 9x9 the app currently only allows up to 1080.

Hey Danny! I got this combo because of your video! When I record with the Rode and X3, the audio has been recording in mono instead of stereo for some reason. I can fix it on Final Cut, but I’m pretty sure the X3 is supposed to support stereo. Any idea what might be happening?

I like the possibilities the X3 gives you, but I absolutely don't like the heavy distortions it also gives you. The footage is so clean and crisp, but looks artificial, though. Anyway: Thanks for the good work and for sharing it. Thumbs up!

Thx for the great question I have never tested it on a motorbike sorry so I don’t think I could answer that question 100% but I think it might be pushing the limits on it tho.

Any alternatives mic options that's not going to brake my bank account please ? 260 for that mic is insane. Is half of the camera price lol. I need it to record inside the club. I'm a dj and the original mic that comes with the insta360 x3 suppressed the kick and bass a lot. Is unusable works fine with there's no bass. But when bass kick ins forget it. I don't need it to record my voice. Is for music inside the club the GoPro does a better job in side the club. I like the insta360 better tho.

Yes, the 3.5mm cable shown in this video is in the box with the Ulanzi bracket ordered from Insta360. Mine has just arrived.

I orderd the mic adapter and the bracket both for the Insta 360 and I got no cable at all it was ordered from insta 360 Website. The red cable for the rode wireless go will show up in the footage

My hollyland Mic is not supported, and when I watch my videos, my lips and words do not sync up correctly. It has only a handful. Is it the product design problem? Would you mind doing a short vdo explaining how to remove the x3 USB lock ? Seems the top of the tap of the USB lock is hooked to the shaft so it seems impossible to plug in the mic adaptor by removing the USB lock unless I have to break it, but it also means I cannot put the lock back later on.

Its just too bad the X3 video quality isn't very good. The sensor is larger than a GoPro Hero 10 so I thought it would be better but its always grainy and low resolution looking, even in single lens mode. You are outside with great lighting too vs. indoors or in the woods.

This is my complaint too. It's always grainy unless it's only for up close shots. So I like it and think it's cool but it's hard to use as the only camera I think. So I'm changing to GoPro for now

It's not super easy, it's super annoying that Insta360 are behind the times, and haven't provided direct usb audio connections like on the Action 2 and 3 from DJI. That avoids having to use an adapter and at least in theory it provides a higher quality digital connection. Or perhaps nobody has tried that yet? Anyway, thanks for your work on this video.

not only do they sell accessories for things that should be inbuilt, it doesn't even allow stereo input, at all even bluetooth audio will be mono, thats pretty shit IMO, i wish i could just hook up a good studio adc/dac, but it's insta360 that only cares about selling accessories and make your life harder

The mic adapter is a bit disappointing on this and the X2. The design, of course, pales in comparison to something like DJs integrated connection mechanism, but more disappointed because it seems like there is some fidelity loss. It sounds somewhat better than the X2 adapter, but there's a muffling/bassy quality to the sound that sounds much better when the same Rode mic is hooked up to a different camera or uses internal recording. I think the solution is workable for sure, and love being able to use a system like the Rode, but a little bummed the quality loss is that high. When within a couple of feet of the camera without wind reduction on, I would argue the on board mics sound crisper than the Rode! Probably the one complaint I have about this camera, so can't be too upset 😉
