Really nice to see this on an older vehicle. The shots in the door are really helpful. I'm thinking about putting one in a 1978 Ford Transit camper van I am fixing up.
I'm putting this system in my mini truck. And I'm making a few other modifications. But you helped clarify so questions I had about keyless entry system.
If you were here in Arkansas, I could make you some ford blanks to fit that remote provided you're still using the original ignition switch or original style
@@JakeHarrington That keyless entry only have one blue wire for the trunk, while the locks on the doors have to + and ground, I asume that the box cant deliver that much output, so the blue is just a signal for the relay to open / close the circut to the boot accurator, just installed on my Mazda MX-5 doors and trunk
This is 100% legit, and most modern aftermarket alarms even have the output signal available. If they do you can DIY a kit for less than 15 bucks. The only limit would be that it's not later era where the lock mech has security guards built in/around it. Late 90s onward roughly. No room for the universal actuators. I found out the hard way.
@@lol-bg4wh You have to pull the interior door trims off and look at the lock actuator. If you can see it and it has a long straight section that you can mount the plunger style actuator near than you can. You can also try looking at the stock parts for the door lock actuator to see what they look like. If they look anything like the universal plunger style they might work. Good luck.
the guys that think this is pointless dont have females in their life.. LMAO.. thats why i put them on my jeep.. i had to.. im jealous of your key fobs.. i did a video on these as well.. just seeing what else was out there.. i subbed..
Subbed back to you! I've actually watched your stuff in the past! Good content! It was a cheap kit, but it still works really good today! Range is awesome too. I can unlock it from from quite far away!
The kit includes some mounting hardware. Mine was directly incline with my lock mechanism, so I just screwed it through the side of the door. You can form the hardware to fit just about anywhere.
Due to the different ignition switches/wiring in different vehicles, it's hard to say that a remote start will work on "any" vehicle. What vehicle are you working on? I'll see what I can do, to help!
I don't! There are a few options out there. How many wires would you need to run to your doors. If everything is mechanical, there is a braided hose style that's very clean looking!
Why the 5 wires on the master? Is that so that it can unlock the others when pulling or pushing on the original door locks from inside? @@JakeHarrington
Sounds like it may be a wiring issue! Or, the way the actuators are placed. If they don't have full travel, it could cause them to unlock after being locked
The mounting hardware came with the kit, but I used a small bolt, for the time being. I plan on grinding a bevel into the metal, so I small screw, can fit flush, and clean against the door.
I have a question..... do the doors stay unlocked while the car is in motion? Or is there a way to unlock 1 door while the others are locked (asking for a 1971 jeep wagoneer) . Thanks and thats a great truck
You can lock the doors while the car is in motion! You can set this up to work just like a new vehicle! There are two fobs, and an extra wire from the harness, so you can install an interior switch if you wanted to!
@@JakeHarrington thanks. Also how would I make the actuators work together with alarm system? Was thinking of getting the actuators alone and purchasing an alarm set that I like.
Yeah the link has been broken! I can recommend a different product for you. This is another highly rated kit on Amazon, that would work as a replacement for this one. Key fobs are slightly different. The rest is the same www.amazon.com/InstallGear-Keyless-4-Button-Remotes-Actuators/dp/B01MDLUTPC/ref=sr_1_25?keywords=kkmoon+keyless&qid=1637209258&qsid=140-0231345-8390808&sr=8-25&sres=B07Y9NPNKJ%2CB09FZP2SY9%2CB077MZC8RJ%2CB077NDP76T%2CB00KTIUG5C%2CB000NJJ1MQ%2CB00HCAYQ0G%2CB08832JX4H%2CB07B93347H%2CB01HP3E5PA%2CB08SBLDN4X%2CB07JQ8Q6X6%2CB07NBMH7T3%2CB0856W45VL%2CB07V1CHK7W%2CB07FCLNLXV%2CB00KTIYXLU%2CB00NBT224O%2CB0771N1ZF9%2CB07GRXFBY5
Your Amazon link is broken, can you update it or post a link in a reply? So many out there, be nice to get one that’s solid, especially if it’s still solid after a year or so
Hey Guys! Haven't forgotten about you! The link for the product I used is no longer good! However, I have done some research on some comparable stuff and found these! The kit is identical, with different key fobs. The rest is very similar! www.amazon.com/AUTOHAUX-Central-Locking-Keyless-Actuator/dp/B07JWF5GCR/ref=sr_1_29?dchild=1&keywords=keyless+entry+car&qid=1626753756&sr=8-29
