Wow! 260000 miles. My first p0303 misfire occurred at 53000 miles on my 2010 honda accord. It happened again at p0301 at 68000 miles. Only had misfires and oil consumption, nothing else associated with vcm. Installed the vcm muzzler2 and have had no other problems with oil consumption or misfires, although the car only has 75000 miles at this point. It is my wife's car and she doesn't drive it much but now it is fixed and runs so much better with all 6 cylinders at all times.
Wow, Thank you I have been struggling swapping ignition coils and spark plugs. mechanic just keep on telling me that is known Honda issue with the piston ring. I just ordered the VCM Muzzler and hope it resolves my issue
Excellent video and device! Just ordered mine and hope that it will give me some more life in my 2012 Odessey. I've only got 140k on the motor and like you, the #3 is fouling. OIl is getting past the rings so I hope that with all 6 cylinders firing, it will slow down this issue. Once again, solid video sir.
The VC Muzzler begins work immediately after installation. The ECO light should not come on anymore after installation. Sometimes if the car is set idle for a long time, resulting in the engine temp to rise above its normal level, you may see the ECO light come on but it should be rare. Just make sure to replace the fowled spark plugs.
Great question. You should not. When you first install it you may change the resistors a couple of times within a few weeks/months to find which one works best for the environment you live in and your driving conditions but once you find the best resistor for your needs you should not need to change it for the seasons. The hottest months will usually help determine which resistor should be used.
There may be occasions when you leave your car running idle for an unusually long period of time like being stuck in a traffic jam on a hot day where you may notice the ECO light come on. Unless that situation is a normal occurrence for you, I wouldn’t try to replace the resistor to account for that very rare scenario.
I have the same problem. I changed the coil packs and spark plugs, then still had a misfire in the 3rd cylinder. ( Code p303 ) now will this muzzle stop your fans from coming on since it stops the cars heating and cooling gauge to stay cool? Or will your fans still work?
Your fans will still work. The Muzzler only purpose is to fool the computer into thinking the engine temperature is lower than it really is so that the VCM never initiates.
It’s not oil. It’s really from misfiring and gas being introduced into the cylinder when it’s not being utilized. Similar to what would happen if your car was running too rich on fuel. When it goes into ECO mode it isn’t fully stopping all activity from happening in those cylinders. That’s what’s leading to the fouled spark plugs.
Different climates require different resistor. So if you live in a cold environment like Wisconsin, the resistor you use will be completely different than the resistor used in Texas. Also, sometimes you may need to tweak it to because the resistor you initial used may not perform as best in say, stop-n-go heavy traffic. After using the resistor that was installed when the unit arrived, I ended up replacing it with the yellow resistor because I found the yellow resistor behaved best in my part of Wisconsin.
From personal experience Yes, make sure the car is cold enough. Otherwise, it will throw you emission system check, so the best way to do it is, disconnect your battery and then replace the resistors
I just fixed the link. Here it is and thanks for the catch: www.ebay.com/itm/354705630686?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=QL24Af60Roq&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=bVI1aaBLSpW&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
I not recall which one I installed on the video but I’ve switched ohm two times since the video. It more of a trial and error until you find the one that works best for the climate where you live in addition to your driving habits. It also comes with a guide to help you decide which one to try first.
Here is the link. I got it off of EBay: www.ebay.com/itm/353133561057?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=QL24Af60Roq&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=bVI1aaBLSpW&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
