I am using a Shars 250-000 OXA quick change tool post. I just recently upgraded for a cheaper 250-000 that I purchased on eBay. I am very happy with the Shars. The quality and finish are top-notch. 2mm is a very large amount when it comes to pool cues. When I trim off a small layer from the ferrule, I am only taking off 1 or 2 thousandths of an inch. That is a miniscule amount of material. Yes, I do have to remove some material from the ferrule, but I do my best to remove the smallest amount possible. Thanks for commenting.

It's called facing off. Need a new clean square surface to adhere the new tip to. It's a very small amount, the material coming off of the tool makes it look like more than it is. On my own cues I put a sacrificial pad on the ferrule so future tip changes only require facing off the pad and not the ferrule.
