Hi, great build. I just got my first Wheel Horse tractor a 416-8. There is nothing wrong with it at this time but I was wondering if all of the 8 speed transmissions will basically swap out. I'm just looking so that I will have rebuilt spares for the future. I saw a 312-8 that was going pretty cheap but didn't know if the transmissions would swap.
Seems to me that it should be possible to install the hi-lo handle before bolting the trans in. Just fish it up thru the opening in the base? If not, how the heck do you get the trans back out if it needs repair in the future?
Instead of the roll pin on the hi-low arm, couldn’t you take a long allen head bolt and grind enough of threads off to fit into the selector stub hole.Thread the hole where the roll pin starts on the shifter itself . Then you could just use an allen wrench instead of a hammer and punch. Either way, nice work Vin.👍
Hello without a later model dipstick provision, there really isn't a way to check the oil level, if its not leaking bad a good rule of thumb I use is, just drain and refill every season...
