The way my garage is set up I need mine to go a cross the joists instead of inline with them. Max lift for me will be 500lbs. I have access to my attic I’m going to just drill tiny holes on each side of every joist so o know where center is. Then touch them up after. This is an awesome idea thanks for the video

Mine is running across the joists...I'm tied into 5 of them I think (its been awhile since I did this vide). I'm not sure what the capacity is, but I'm certainly not gonna put it to the test too much

I just received my hoist from amazon and I’m going to set mine up the same way with the unistrut and rollers. What size lag bolts did you use and did you pre drill the studs first before installing them? Thanks for the video

I did pre-drill. I don't remember what size lag bolts I used, but I would go with the longest you can use based on your ceiling joists. My joists aren't standard 2x lumber on edge, so my setup will be different

Love it. I have a low ceiling and I'm trying to figure out if this will work for me. I have like a 9ft ceiling. I want to pull furniture and things that are kind of tall off my 2500 bed. Do you know how low the unit will hang without your rollers? How much slack comes down before it engages? Thank you!

My garage ceiling is 9 or 10 feet. I haven't measured anything, but the track and roller are only a few inches...As for the "slack", I'm not sure I understand what you're asking. There is more than enough cable to reach the floor.

@@MoonBuiltGarage I've heard the whole apparatus hangs down about 10 inches or so. I'm going to drive my 2500 into the garage and off load some items that are a bit tall. Meaning I don't know how much travel I would have. It looks close. If my load is to close to the ceiling then my hoist wouldn't pull it up. that was my issue. Thank you!

If I were to get 2 wireless hoists, will each hoist have its own wireless signal? Or will one remote end up controlling both units?

🤔🤔🤔No Clue🤔🤔🤔 I would LIKE to think they would be different.....

I have one of these but the lift speed is way too fast. I need to slow it down. Can I connect the power cord to a rheostat / PWM / dimmer?

Good question....give it a shot and let us know how it works

Make sure you don't exceed the power rating of the rheostat.

@@ebenezerwheezer2957 What the fuck are you on about? I never said anything about missing parts or China. I was talking about the lift speed.

I plan to do something like this to lift my Trailduster top into a loft storage area in my garage.

This setup should easily handle that

The bottom chord in a manufactured truss is not intended to carry a point load. Your assumptions as to what the member will carry but your reasoning is inappropriate. Building codes are based on measurable quantities with a safety margin, but quesswork never comes into the calculation. Stavros, cousin of Pete Agoras

Statistically, guesswork is ALWAYS part of the calculation
