I got that grill like 4 yrs ago & it looked great but couldn't open the hood, wasn't made to give the latch enough clearance to engage😩 was so disappointed because nobody had that grill on a E39! Guess they mold it better now, looks good🍻
I did the same with my LCI E39 530i Wagon. The only difference was I went for the matte black F10 style, because my car is the shadowline version and it now matches the other matte black shadowline finishers.
BMWs are known for their Hofmeister Kink, and their kidney grilles. They are scene at a distance. Now, with these bland black, non contrasting grilles, yours is missing that one element. Good video though on how to change grills.
Really stupid reasoning you‘re going by. The black BMW kidneys have been a favorite since the old classic days. The e46 and e39 literally had trimline options with a black grill, all the new M cars have black grills. So his car is definitely not missing anything. People are just bitching around like always.
I think they look much better than the stock chrome, not a fan of chrome on vehicles. Don't care what other people think, it's your car and do what you love!
My experience with these aftermarket bimmer kidneys is they all fit like crap. Cheap, brittle plastic. I do like the dark look (I have a jet black E39 M5) but decided to go back to stock after purchasing from PO who went with gloss black. They literally fell out. Nothing like the satisfaction of snapping in brand new oem kidney grille's! After seeing your most recent video on e39source I am wishing I had held out and found a carbon black example. It's absolutely stunning paint....you did an amazing job correcting that paint! Gorgeous car. Congrats. New sub here. Cheers!
I love the look! I bought f10 grilles off a guy on market but they are way too big. Can someone tell me where I went wrong. Is there a certain model of f10 grilles that fit the e39?
I like the way the F10 grill curves and catches light reflections in the top part. But the problem is that it is way too shiny and draws attention. It just doesn't fit the design of the rest of the car. I suggest getting the E39 Shadowline (black) grills, if you want a different look from the chrome grills.
Looks good next upgrade I think you should get are the halo lights. I didn’t like the yellow look to them so I bought genness led bulbs for 33$ it really makes the car look modern and have lasted me almost a year. DONT but cheap eBay 15$ ones they burn out after a month or two
Just got my grills from amazon but im going to switch chrome part from the old ones because my car is silver and if i put just all black grills looks like is too much black .
I was thinking about doing the same for my '03 530. I'm not sure if like it. I def don't love it, so no go for me. Keep it going with the channel...thx!
Can't make my mind up if I like them or not haha. I have facelift grills from the 6 cylinder models on my M since I wasn't a fan of the all chrome grill either. It has the chrome outer ring but the inner slats are black.
Hell yeah! I have these on my matte grey/blue e39 540i and I think it just Adds a nice modern touch to the car even tho its design already is timeless!
When someone buys an E39 ///M5 they tend to get an itch to change the emblems into carbon or color coding things they shouldn't and the grill, ahh yes the infamous grill changing. I have seen people ruin this very car changing a grill with some cheap Amazon or Ebay items. When you buy this car leave it the way it is if something is faded or needs replacement go the OEM by new and install. You will get that itch out of you the more you drive it. Its perfection, the way it came out of the factory.
Hey man you like it that’s all that matters, as for me I think it looks pretty cool, might get a pair for my e39 540i. I will say I think they would look much better on lighter colored cars, it’d pop so much more if it wasn’t black but many people do like the black on black.

Shopping for your M5 accessories on Amazon is no different than the chump who goes to AutoZone and picks out all the "cool stuff" from the made in china isle for his car to show off at the parking lot on a Friday night.
